Spanberger was literally a Blue Dog. She never claimed to be more progressive than the average Dem. Anyways the lawsuit is ongoing, with Virginia as one of the plaintiffs.

I was happy to see Abigail boost @caitfornewyork.bsky.social on Instagram today. She's running against the fake moderate Mike Lawler in New York. This is a majority-making seat, and Cait is the woman to seize it.

She’s now stepping up to serve her community in Congress.

It was great to spend time with her this week. She has my full support heading into the midterms."

Haha I thought about posting this. Lotta people were dunking on Kiggans on the bad website. The election observer in me says Kiggans has no shot. We're witnessing the humiliating death throes of a campaign. Of course the canvasser in me says "this is a 2 point race, you gotta vote!"

Social media feeds people simplistic good and bad narratives, such that they recoil from any kind of nuanced take. When there's a powerful new technology, "use it with appropriate guardrails" is better than a wholesale rejection.

Governor Spanberger talking up the damage Trump is doing to the Virginia beef industry. There's a tension between blaming him for tariffs, and blaming him for waiving tariffs. But it's the chaotic, ad hoc approach that damages business. Central planning minus the planning.
Spanberger's Tweet: "I held a roundtable today with Virginia cattlemen to discuss the Trump Administration’s recently announced plan to flood our market with foreign beef, how rising input costs are squeezing local producers, and the deep impacts of federal tariffs and continued conflict in the Middle East.

I have and will continue to stand with our farmers and cattlemen. The success of Virginia agriculture — our #1 private industry — depends on sound and durable trade policies that give producers the confidence to invest in the long-term health of the industry."Governor Spanberger's tweet: "This morning, I visited Williamson Farms in Botetourt County.

The family has been farming in this region for over 100 years — producing grass-fed beef, pasture-raised eggs, honey, and more.

Last week, I urged the Trump Administration to reconsider their plans to flood our market with subsidized foreign-produced beef at the detriment of family-run Virginia farms, like the Williamsons. Today, I heard from Virginia cattlemen with real concerns."

Only a few generations removed. Advances in liberty are not the inevitable tide of history, but the result of years of activism. And they have to overcome dedicated reactionary sentiment, not just apathy or inertia. The fight goes on.
Twitter post from Governor Spanberger: "On this day in 1920, the 19th Amendment was certified and women in this country were given the constitutional right to vote.

As Governor and as a mother of three girls, I am grateful to all those who fought for equality and progress over generations. I’m also looking forward to securing a strong future of opportunity for the next generations.

Reports of her unpopularity were greatly exaggerated. There was a basis for it; that's why she has higher disapprovals than Warner and Kaine. But this poll puts it into perspective. Dem critics of hers are highly online, but only a small portion of the actual electorate.

Abigail knows the territory. Everywhere in an hour radius voted between 65% and 85% for Winsome. But it's still good she got to meet some fans and see more of the Commonwealth. She represents everyone, not just places that voted for her.

Looks like she isn't just going to watch as the merger happens. She's formally requesting to be a part of the State Corporation Commission Case.
Governor Spanberger on Twitter: " 🚨NEW: I will be taking the unprecedented step of intervening in the proposed NextEra-Dominion merger to be a party to the case.

This $67B proposal would create the largest regulated electric utility in the world.

For a deal this consequential, I will not watch from the sidelines."

But to all the candidates who took a long shot and lost: thanks for stepping up. Abigail did that herself 8 years ago. I praise her talents more than anyone; but in another circumstance or another district, she could be one of these people getting 20% of the vote or less in a primary.

Best way to celebrate the 4th -- making new Americans. Here's to another 250!
Governor Spanberger on Theeads:

"75 people came to Monticello today as citizens of 35 different nations.

They left having taken an oath to become part of our story — making the same choice as our founders 250 years ago. To believe in liberty, justice, and self-governance.

They chose to become Americans."

Senator Russet Perry and Governor Spanberger had some bad blood over the data center listening tour. But I guess they reconciled, because Oak Hill State Park was added to the budget as an amendment. Oak Hill in Loudoun is the former home of James Monroe, where he retired after his presidency.
Tweet by Virginia state senator Russet Perry saying: "It’s official: #OakHill will be a State Park!

2.5 years of hard work and collaboration & we’ve finally crossed the finish line. Incredibly proud to have helped shepherd this project from day 1. Huge thanks to everyone who fought to preserve this history for future generations!"

Better relationships with the General Assembly as a whole. They thought they could lead her around and disrespect her on the referendum, slander her chief of staff, etc. She retaliated and called their bluffs. Some of the vetoed stuff was restored in the budget, some will get addressed in '27.

I'm fine with teacher's unions and other public sector unions, if we get the details right. Hopefully that gets done in the next legislative session in VA. But it's not so they can get a fair share of the profits. There are no profits, just services provided to the broader society.

"Planes that land safely don't make the news." The numbers reported in here are spectacular. Double digit decreases in all sorts of categories of violence. That's a vast amount of human misery alleviated. And it's due to competent work from the executive, not new laws. Still work to be done.

It's finally over. We have a 2-year budget. No shutdown. And the General Assembly won't convene again until January.
Abigail Spanberger's tweet from today:

"Today, the General Assembly has moved forward with a budget proposal — and that means we are keeping our government open and delivering for the 8.8 million people who call our Commonwealth home.

There is a lot to be proud of in this budget. It delivers raises for our teachers and public employees, makes new investments in our schools, includes a RGGI credit for residential customers and small businesses, and takes other tangible steps to make Virginia more affordable — all while protecting families from the devastating cuts in the so-called ‘One Big Beautiful Bill.’

Importantly, this budget positions the Commonwealth to be a national leader on data centers. For the first time anywhere in America, Virginia will institute a statewide energy consumption tax on data centers — an idea I first proposed this spring — to ensure this industry pays its fair share and does not drive up costs for Virginia families.

This is a compromise proposal — one my administration helped craft — and it builds a strong foundation for further discussions about the future of this industry in Virginia on issues like environmental and community impact.

Failing to pass a budget would have been unprecedented in the history of our Commonwealth — and it was never an option. My focus remains exactly where it has always been: lowering costs for Virginians, delivering for our schools and communities, and supporting the families who count on their government to meet its most basic responsibilities."

The budget proposed by the Virginia House of Delegates would remove the Confederate statues from the Virginia Capital grounds. Naturally the Blue Checks on the other site are enraged and crying about Spanberger's cruelty.
NOVA campaigns (a right wing account) posting on Twitter about the proposed Virginia budget from the House of Delegates:

"The @vademocrats
 and @GovernorVA
Spanberger are going to spend $1,792,510 of taxpayer money to remove Confederate statues from Richmond

“Department of General Services shall remove and gift to the Shenandoah Valley Battlefields Foundation all Confederate monuments and memorials from Capitol Square, including the General Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson statue, unveiled in 1875; the Governor William "Extra Billy" Smith statue, unveiled in 1906; and the Dr. Hunter Holmes McGuire statue, unveiled in 1904.""LynnhavenMan says in a reply: "No budget, but we have to go full Stalin and erase history."

Housing is one of the biggest issues facing the commonwealth. It's why Virginians leave the state for places like Texas or North Carolina. So it's great to see her sign this. Congrats also to Cavco for getting to host this and give a tour of their facilities.
Facebook post from Governor Spanberger saying: "Virginia has a housing affordability problem across the board. It is real, it is urgent, and it is one of the biggest threats to the strength of our Commonwealth. That is why housing is one of the pillars of my Affordable Virginia Agenda. The bills I signed in Rocky Mount yesterday take concrete steps to tackle the housing crisis — increasing supply, lowering housing costs, and expanding homeownership opportunities. "

Putting words in her mouth. "Stop talking about it" is not the same thing as "don't do it." As the article says, she'd be open to new maps for 2028. But first we have to hit the near term target in 2026. After that, we'll have enough data to formulate a proper, national response.

Pelosi was fine with it! She understood that Spanberger wasn't going to vote for her for Speaker, and didn't have any hard feelings. It was an electoral consideration in a swing seat, which is not the dynamic here.
