Juicy Lucy were a Blues band best known for their version of Bo Diddley's "Who do You Love? But I bought this LP purely on the cover. When I got home and heard it, it blew me away. Great Blues. #geoffsalbums #blues youtube.com/playlist?lis...

Made in Japan was a stunning live album by Deep Purple. I remember seeing DP live & was shocked to find Ian Gillan had left & David Coverdale had arrived. Still a great concert. This one still had Gillan on vocals on a best-ever live offering. #geoffsalbums www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxWS...

Today we are back to Progressive Rock with Camel. A Nod and a Wink is one of their later albums written whilst Andy Latimer was seriously ill and feeling nostalgic. Some wonderful lyrics, especially "Simple Pleasures". #geoffsalbums #progrock youtube.com/playlist?lis...

Nightwish was formed in Kitee, Finland in 1996. Symphonic metal had arrived for me and Oceanborn was my entry drug. Released in 1998. #geoffsalbums youtube.com/playlist?lis...

Abraxas was the album that introduced me to the work of the band and guitarist Santana. At one point Carlos Santana held the world record for the longest sustain, I believe playing Samba Pa Ti. #geoffsalbums youtube.com/playlist?lis...

U2. Hmm. Whilst I collected The Joshua Tree, as I'd heard it in a colleagues car, it's one of those albums that you like at the time. Whilst it is competent it's not really exciting. Shame really, an excellent band & Eno producing sounded perfect. #geoffsalbums youtube.com/playlist?lis...

Close to the Edge was Yes' 1972 release. As was becoming common at the time, there was only three epic songs (this deluxe edition has more) on the vinyl. However, they are all wonderful, played by a band that was well into its musical stride. #geoffsalbums www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...

Killer was released in 1971. This LP had me from the moment Under My Wheels opened with that guitar break. Fabulous. Then there is the James Bond-esque Halo of Flies. People derided Alice Cooper for being showy, but they are so much more than that. #geoffsalbums www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsBr...

Today's choice is one of my favourite albums. Chris Rea is one of the greatest guitarists. The way he makes his guitars sing always stops me in my tracks. Here is God's Great Banana Skin. #geoffsalbums www.youtube.com/watch?v=4p60...
