Vanadinite with mineral oil. You can see the oil so clearly because of the differences in atomic weight. Vanadinite is mostly lead and vanadium, while mineral oil is carbon and hydrogen.

Right before heading to the airport for home in DC on Nov. 14th 2023, I happened upon a protest. I had to take pictures quickly as I walked through, but I wanted to share the pictures I took. Yesterday was the winter solstice, so the days are slowly getting longer again! I hope everyone is getting some time to rest. Throwback to the summer solstice, when I was in DC and the museums were open late. Thanks to Bailey Sarian, I wandered into a museum party while looking for a bird. 10/10

If you need a cute show to watch this season, A Man on the Inside on Netflix is a good choice. Hits close to home this year, very cathartic at times. It's nice to rest a little after this semester.

This is a big 'ol bumble bee I was given by another SLCC student. The first image is the edge of it's wing, and looks like a man running up a hill to me. Notice how the details change between the last two images. One only uses BSE (elemental mapping focus) and the other a MIX (elemental and surface)

When defunding, I hope DOGE thinks about how those responsibilities get divided and makes sure the funding goes to the correct place. When we say defund the police, we mean change who is responsible for lower level calls and give them their part. Police have a stressful job. We want to find balance.

Salem, the reason I needed rabies shots. She's a stray. I walked outside the other day, and she looked rough. So I tried to take her to the vet. I got impatient, and she bit me deep. My bad. To be safe I got the R shots and a tetanus booster, but ear chips usually also indicate R vaccination status.
