Smol bean resigned (after doing how much harm in his role at OpenAI)? How terrible (that neither he nor anyone else at OpenAI will suffer any consequences)! Surely our society will take note (of the fact that non-rich people have been screaming about A.i. harms before this jackass got a platform).

Ah, a living Bohrs comic. Classic!
Four panel comic by Bors. 1: Woman posts "Apple AirPods cost $150 but they can't pay taxes or decent wages to their Chinese factory workers!" 2: Man smugly says "...You said on an iPhone. Heh. Gotcha." 3) Different man says "Cars should have seat belts!" Smug man replies "Yet you bought one. Hypocrite much? Owned." 4) Peasant carrying load of firewood on his back says "We should improve society somewhat." Smug man pops out of nearby well saying "Yet you participate in society. Curious! I am very intelligent."

The reality is that there are a lot of well-documented research studies that you seem to be ignoring about the harms of genA.i. I'm sorry that makes you so defensive that you became insulting to someone who has followed you for years.
Critics have already written thoroughly about the environmental harms, the reinforcement of bias and generation of racist output, the cognitive harms and AI supported suicides, the problems with consent and copyright, the way AI tech companies further the patterns of empire, how it’s a con that enables fraud and disinformation and harassment and surveillance, the exploitation of workers, as an excuse to fire workers and de-skill work, how they don’t actually reason and probability and association are inadequate to the goal of intelligence, how people think it makes them faster when it makes them slower, how it is inherently mediocre and fundamentally conservative, how it is at its core a fascist technology rooted in the ideology of supremacy, defined not by its technical features but by its political ones.

Female vs Male Lifespan

    Females:
Female black widows generally live between 1.5 to 3 years. In captivity, with stable food and no predators, some can live up to 4 years.
    Males:
Males have much shorter lives. After reaching maturity (which happens in just a couple of months), most die shortly after mating. Their total lifespan rarely exceeds 4 months.

We are talking about the plagiarism/theft/de-skilling/ecocide/CSAM/deepfake/antiprivacy/billionaire-enriching/etc apparatus. If requiring a 'backdoor' to all devices w/ genA.i./LLM ability is what it takes to save humans, our world, & society-as-a-viable-concept, I'm kinda good with that.

Fuuuuuuuuck you, Yee.
To help faculty redesign their assignments, Yee co-authored a guide that contains dozens of suggestions centered on making students show how they are using AI to support their work. Faculty can also use AI to facilitate reworking their assessments by feeding the assignment into a large language model and asking for help making it more AI-resilient. “It doesn’t have to be a multi-week process,” Yee said. “AI can provide different ideas that don’t make course redesign nearly as hard.”A.i. slop graphic of a woman marking up a paper with words like "Revise" "Source" "Check facts here" and text reading "Created by educators, for educators. Huh. I learned something - yay! Unrelated... this guy is obviously a VP because he says crap like this:
Higher education has always prepared students for the world of work, and employers want our graduates to have some sense of how late-model AI works. Of course we can do more than help our students get good jobs, but we can’t do less. Higher ed’s half of the social bargain is that graduates are generally better off for having spent time with us — if that goes away, so do we. If more jobs are going to require AI use, it falls to us to help students prepare for that future.

We fundamentally disagree, I think. 1) genA.i./LLM harms are not limited to the person using it. (arxiv.org/pdf/2505.22073) 2) I'm not a teacher, therapist, or doctor. I have no need nor desire to give grace to adults who knowingly choose to harm others.
Importantly, we find that most incidents in our analysis bring harm to stakeholders that did not interact directly with the Generative AI system, undermining the accountability frameworks assumed in many AI governance models. We also find malicious use to be a prevalent failure
mode underlying Generative AI harms, in contrast to previous work that analyzes AI incidents more broadly.

Right now, all use of commercially-produced genA.i./LLMs causes harm. If saying "using this makes people lose trust in you" and "this causes XYZ harms & should never be used" makes someone double down on their ACTIVE CHOICE TO HARM ("just a little bit, responsibly"), then I have to invoke Bors:
Bohrs 4 panel cartoon. 1) Woman says "My GAWD these Trump people are racist" Man in MAGA hat says "That attitute is what's pushing me to be racist!" 2) Woman asks "Say what?" Man says "Might as well! You say I'm a Nazi so, fine, I'll be a Nazi if that makes you happy." 3) Woman says "It... doesn't." Man continues "I bought this Waffen SS uniform for Hallowen. You'll cry 'offensive' so maybe I'll just wear it every day. 4) Man, as he is shaving his head and getting a swastika tattoo, says "I just hate to do this. I feel bullied, really."

It is interesting, though I take issue with the assumptions about these books' implicit goals. As the authors acknowledge, some of the 'demoralizing' messages are just reality (such as scientific success has a higher cost to women & POC) - but they don't take into acct that parents have to ...
Abstract
Biographies of scientists are widely used to spark children’s interest and broaden participation in science. In telling the stories of successful scientists, these books convey implicit “recipes for success”—yet no study has systematically examined whether these recipes align with what motivation research recommends. Here, we provide the first large-scale analysis of motivational messages in children’s science biographies (422 best-selling books, 1,355 protagonists). Four main findings emerged. First, scientific ability was portrayed equally often as fixed and as malleable, a pattern unlikely to support motivation. Second, interest in science was overwhelmingly portrayed as fixed: Most scientists were said to be captivated by science from a young age. Third, scientists in physics, engineering, and computer science were portrayed as more reliant on fixed ability than scientists in other fields. Fourth, biographies of female scientists disproportionately emphasized effort even after adjusting for the obstacles they faced, consistent with stereotypes attributing women’s success to hard work over talent. These findings suggest that well-intentioned efforts to diversify science through role model exposure in children’s science biographies may fall short.

Actual consequences?? Hot damn! Good for InterMountain Education Service District!
After investigating a 2024 complaint, InterMountain Education Service District deemed the display a “bias incident” because it was a “hostile expression of animus” related to gender identity. The school told Theis to stop displaying the books and warned him that noncompliance could lead to discipline, including firing. He was ultimately terminated.

This is horrifying to see, in a plea to prevent science from being undermined by people who have no business making science-funding decisions. Publicly-available A.i. is one of the dangers and what you get out of it will partially reflect the biases of people undermining non-tech research!
Note that the OMB is required to review and respond to substantive public comments, so make sure your comment is substantive. You should have evidence-based insights and ask questions that require answers. An example from my comment is below. Let me give you a big pro-tip here on drafting your comment: it's not wrong to use AI. Lord knows they'll be using it to craft the responses to these comments. What AI can do is fluff out the serious point that you're making and pull together evidence, additional arguments, and the language that they will need to see that makes your comment "substantive" in their view. Make sure that you're using arguments, language, and approaches that are speaking the language of the people who are looking to destroy science.

"We acknowledge that this technology has the potential to erode public trust. That is why we..." are pretending we are computer science & statistics experts instead of survey purveyors. - Gallup, apparently
We acknowledge that this technology has the potential to erode public trust. That is why we are gathering empirical evidence independently, assessing the accuracy of this methodology rigorously, and determining the circumstances under which simulated responses can be used. We take seriously the questions this work raises about quality and trust. Credibility is central to everything we do and underlies the reputation Gallup has built over 90 years. If validated and used responsibly, this technology has the potential to provide organizations with rapid, reliable and more powerful insights.

I'm sorry your cynicism apparently requires you to assume every activist organization is useless or acting in bad faith, but sometimes people with similar goals come together to try to do things.
The No Kings protests were organized by Indivisible and other progressive organizations[12] as part of a coalition of more than 200 groups, including 50501, the Third Act Movement, American Federation of Teachers, Social Security Works, Communications Workers of America (CWA), American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), Public Citizen and MoveOn.[7][13][14] The event aimed to protest the policies and actions of the Donald Trump administration, including his purported fascist tendencies and associated democratic backsliding in the United States.[3][4][5] Its name and theme reflect Trump's own contention that he is a "king" and several posts by his administration that depict him as a monarch.[15][16]
