I think it has do with wrong doing and inadequate systems Someone gained from stealing and lying And it got found out nownquestions are being asked how did that happen

Supporting BLM isn't the story. The story is a diversity group advised Cambridge on hiring shortly before Arday was appointed. Given the later questions about his appointment and credentials, whether those policies influenced the process is legitimate to investigate. Can you see that viewpoint

Space lover ✨️ @spaceodyssey1.bsky.social · 18/08/2026
That's exactly my point. Cambridge took advice from a pro-BLM diversity group on its hiring practices. Whether that influenced Arday's appointment is a legitimate question for journalists to investigate. The institutional process is part of the story, not his race itself.

No, that's not what I'm saying. I'm not saying his race was the story. I'm saying the systems and institutions that promoted him became part of the story. Questioning whether DEI policies affected standards or scrutiny isn't the same as attacking someone because they're black.

Space lover ✨️ @spaceodyssey1.bsky.social · 18/08/2026
I don't see it that way. I think the bigger story was about the institutions themselves. They publicly championed him and DEI initiatives, yet serious questions emerged about how thoroughly he'd been vetted, alongside some extraordinary claims he'd made. That's why it became bigger than one academic

Good question, and I genuinely don't know. Why do journalists pick up some stories and not others? There's no set formula. But this became about more than alleged plagiarism — Cambridge, academic standards and wider institutional failures all became part of the story.

Its called a debate or challenging different viewpoints if yo want to live in a echonchamber thats fine.

I clearly did answer Was the articles putely on Arday personally ? Nothing else just solely on him Or Articles on the story on how institutions, investigations dei initives or left leaning people failed to vet him correctly? Am very clear

Hah But that's exactly my point. You're saying the acceptability of intense media treatment depends on whether you approve of the person's behaviour. I'm saying the principle should be consistent. You can despise Hopkins and still believe there should be limits to how the media treats people.

I tend to debate rather block

Poor post .. you can't accuse someone you dont know of racism I have a view that has nothing to do with skin pigmentation or prejudice, just their merit of their actions Grow up, please be an adult

Space lover ✨️ @spaceodyssey1.bsky.social · 18/08/2026
Of course I see the difference between Hopkins and Arday. I'm questioning the principle. If intense media scrutiny is wrong because of its effect on someone, surely that applies whether we like them or not. Otherwise we're deciding who deserves protection based on personality.

Space lover ✨️ @spaceodyssey1.bsky.social · 18/08/2026
I don't dispute the coverage affected him. I dispute that it was disproportionate. This became bigger than one man — it raised legitimate questions about Cambridge, academic standards and whether DEI initiatives and the systems around them were actually working.

Space lover ✨️ @spaceodyssey1.bsky.social · 18/08/2026
You asked me to give it a rest My reply is simply I do what I want, pal If you don't like it, dont reply to a topic Simple

So you think this was because he was black Not just the outrageous claims he made or activities he claimed he did And yep, if a white person gets a qualification anf geta high profile job, he should be scrutinised Also, this wanst just about jason, but the institutions that championed him
000
Space lover ✨️ @spaceodyssey1.bsky.social · 18/08/2026
None of us know exactly why he took his own life. It could equally have been the weight of his own actions and the allegations he was facing. His death is tragic, especially for his family, but you can't simply state that media criticism caused it when none of us knows that. Dont reply then

Space lover ✨️ @spaceodyssey1.bsky.social · 18/08/2026
But if he killed himself, would you be as upset as Jason arday? be honest
000
Space lover ✨️ @spaceodyssey1.bsky.social · 18/08/2026
But would any of this have even come to light without journalists looking into it? And I don't agree the coverage was necessarily excessive. It wasn't just about Arday, it raised wider questions about the universities and how something like this was allowed to happen in the first place

Space lover ✨️ @spaceodyssey1.bsky.social · 18/08/2026
I think institutions hiring walter mittys should too

Space lover ✨️ @spaceodyssey1.bsky.social · 18/08/2026
They're both people, my friend. Their personalities and behaviour may be different, but that's not the point. If we're saying the media can go too far and contribute to devastating consequences, that principle has to apply to people we dislike too. Surely you cant disagree
100
Space lover ✨️ @spaceodyssey1.bsky.social · 18/08/2026
That's a comment on the story ....am talking about the story itself. You are misdirecting Prople are upset about dei initives bit that's another story
100
Space lover ✨️ @spaceodyssey1.bsky.social · 18/08/2026
Marcus, please be really honest, genuinely. Would you say the same if Katie Hopkins took her own life after intense media scrutiny? I've seen your past posts, so I'm curious. We can't apply this principle only to people we sympathise with—it has to apply equally to everyone targeted by the media.

Arday wasn't an unknown academic. He was a Cambridge professor with a public profile and his achievements were reported nationally. If those achievements are publicly celebrated, legitimate questions about academic integrity are also fair public scrutiny. That's not a witch-hunt.
000
Space lover ✨️ @spaceodyssey1.bsky.social · 18/08/2026
Who first raised the allegations, or what views they held, doesn't determine whether the allegations are true. LJMU didn't uphold the original complaint, but that doesn't automatically disprove later evidence. Defend Arday by addressing the evidence, not attacking the accuser.

I'm confused about what is racist ..... A man lied plagerised stole another person's work effort and research to propell himself forward to further himself and because he got caught and institutions are being questioned its racism ...thats the cray part.
100
Space lover ✨️ @spaceodyssey1.bsky.social · 18/08/2026
No, tbhs story was big because of Jason Arday, and after his resignation, the story evolved into how institutions propped this man up and gained employment in the high positions in the best university

Space lover ✨️ @spaceodyssey1.bsky.social · 18/08/2026
Confued by this because all news dies down, it simply doesn't remain forever.. the story was big not just because of Jason Arday but by the people and institutions that propped him up to virtue signal.
000
Space lover ✨️ @spaceodyssey1.bsky.social · 18/08/2026
Are you saying there has been more scrutiny on jason arday than boris and farage, etc Becuaue that's simply not true and you know that Jason Arday was just current news that comes and goes Am sorry about his death, especially his children, but he took other people work to benefit himself and lied
100
Space lover ✨️ @spaceodyssey1.bsky.social · 18/08/2026
This isn't a true reflection Because most of the stories on this were not purely about jason arday personally but how institutions and left leaning people enabled this and gave it the green light without sufficient due diligence And how Dei initives propped this man up as a poster boy
000
Space lover ✨️ @spaceodyssey1.bsky.social · 18/08/2026
Do you agree he should have resigned ? Do you agree that a person who lied substantially and copied another persons work to promote ones self and gain entry into work is not earned .. should journalists notninvetigate and print findings
100
Space lover ✨️ @spaceodyssey1.bsky.social · 18/08/2026
How 🤔 think it was about his credentials and plagerism be precise not vague
000
Space lover ✨️ @spaceodyssey1.bsky.social · 18/08/2026
Why would the left wing try to convince you a dishonest man should not be held accountable for lying and plagerism and not be investogated
300
Space lover ✨️ @spaceodyssey1.bsky.social · 18/08/2026
So, what was the correct course of action? Should journalists not investigatenor question ? Should wrong actions not be held accountable ? Give a clear opinion on this situation
310
Space lover ✨️ @spaceodyssey1.bsky.social · 18/08/2026
Am confused. Are you saying they should not investigate wrongdoing? A man clearly lied to further his career whilst pushing people who actually earned it away and actually deservered it.. would you want your own work plagegrised and someone else to get the credit ?
