I wanted to have some fun today. So I made an oil painting on a trading card sized piece of canvas. Well, primed paper. Have a little itty-bitty bob-omb battlefield painting. #supermario #aceo #mariofanart #fanart #oilpainting #tinypainting

A little sneak peak at a new project. Going to start making dedicated sticker paintings on the side of larger pieces. This is an experiment; The stickers I make from this piece won't be for sale BUT I might do some fun giveaways with them.

So after a long time of green, I finally decided to paint my art studio purple, and boy lemme tell you I love it SO MUCH MORE

A finished piece for a private commission. This was one of my best pieces I've ever painted, and I'm so excited for it to make it to the client's home. There will be prints and playmats available soon.

Finished my third study and the last one on this panel for my Project Hail Mary Screenshot exercise. The petrova line! These were super fun to paint, and I think I wanna do more of this kind of exercise. The question is Lord of the Rings next, or Star Wars. #projecthailmary #fanart #oilpainting

Did this as a collaboration with @kmccaigue.bsky.social. Decided to really start pushing my art to be more whole scenes and involved pieces, and this features yours truly modelling (because I had no one else available). Watch the collab here: youtu.be/MAdaSUcqCRY

I finished this piece over six months ago, but this was client work and they requested I wait until they saw it in person to reveal it HOWEVER that is now done so everyone, please enjoy my little #oilpainting of an #uncrustable.

The second study from #projecthailmary. I honestly love how real this looks as a thumbnail. The entire goal of these studies is 'looks like a screenshot from afar, blobs up close. This... does that. #fanart #art #oilpainting

I wanted to do some exercises to start painting again, so I dipped my toes in with a 3 hour study from #projecthailmary. #fanart #art #oilpainting

I need to get better about posting here. But I come with an up to date pinned! I cannot believe my most recent art, and I'm in LOVE with all of it. Gonna be the new pinned! #art #portfolio #oilpainting

First finished painting of 2026. Technically the bulk of this piece was painting in 2025 and all I did to wrap it up was a glazing coat to adjust some colors BUT, behold. #oilpainting #fanart #art #gyarados #pokemon #pokemonfanart

So this painting has been sitting on my wall for ages, as I've tried to decide if I wanted to pick it up or just toss it. And tonight I figured... what the hell, let me do the grisaille. I'm glad I did. I can't wait to put color to it! I think it was just waiting for me.

Zia Ellithiel @spacegothprincess.bsky.social · 22/11/2025

So... 14 months ago I started oil painting. Tonight, I attended the reception for a gallery show featuring one of my paintings. I... what? How? I'm genuinely proud of myself but also I'm still riding a wave of disbelief and surrealism (the emotion, not the art style, or maybe?) #oilpainting #gallery

Idk how I did it. This is only the #grisaille layer, color still to come but i think art gods visited me. #pokemon #wip #painting #fanart

And behold! Flying Books. For those who've followed me long enough, you may recognize this as art that I originally did as a digital piece years ago. And here it is, traditionally rendered, and I think better for it!

Not art related, but look at how absolute fangirl I looked today!

Another finished painting. I am actually kinda proud of this one, esp. for my first finished painting to feature a figure.

This shit is bullshit. I am allowed to look at whatever I like wherever. And this server is just an art server with profane language.

Got a couple pieces transferred over to canvas for painting, including a portrait on my first ever self-stretched canvas. I'm currently playing between moving permanently to Linen Canvas or gessoboard... it's a tossup.

020

Zia Ellithiel @spacegothprincess.bsky.social · 03/10/2025

General technique test for my big painting. I ... well the technique works but I also semi-rushed through this painting. I plan to take a lot more time with the proper painting when I do it. Then again, practice is practice.

Zia Ellithiel @spacegothprincess.bsky.social · 30/09/2025

Sharing a piece of work in progress/ prelim art. This is a sketch of a new painting I'll be working on, and I was just so proud of how it came out looking. The idea is a bit of fantasy mixed into a bit of darkness. idk what it'll be called in the end but for now I call it 'Beacon'.

Zia Ellithiel @spacegothprincess.bsky.social · 23/09/2025

The better part of valor is knowing when to stop. I miessed up mixing hair colors, so Im going to let this piece sit, come back in a couple weeks, and work on it again when I know Im ready.

Zia Ellithiel @spacegothprincess.bsky.social · 23/09/2025

Six months ago (Left) I started my first oil portrait, and I was extremely dissatisfied with the results at the time. I knew my forms were good, but I hadn't quite had a handle on skintones. Six months later, I think I have ENOUGH a handle to try and work on it again. And... it's coming out well!

010

Zia Ellithiel @spacegothprincess.bsky.social · 18/09/2025

Did some grisaille layers today. I'm still experimenting with my oil painting process, and I decided to try grisaille base layers for these paintings to see how they'd work. The left is a new still life experiment, and the right is a repaint of an older work of my digital era. #oil #oilpainting

On Sharing Sunday (That's what I'm calling it hush), I want to show you all my first EVER painting, compared to what I'm painting now. Keep practicing. Your art will improve, and you don't need AI to do it. #art #noai (And I keep that first painting in my office. I still like it).

My next painting has been transferred over. And this one will be my first painting on Linen! We shall see how this goes because if this works well I may be linen here on out.

040

Zia Ellithiel @spacegothprincess.bsky.social · 03/09/2025

Well, neither of my planned things happened BUT I did get the TARDIS painting varnished for my art show next week, and I stretched and sized a new linen canvas for a new test painting. Gonna gesso the new canvas probably on thursday, and I have an idea what to paint on it to test it.

Had to stretch some colors a bit, but I'm honestly surprised I had enough for this! And I even managed to do it with almost oil paintings (there's one digital piece in here, that's all). Goal is to expand into more colors as I go through next year! #the_color_wheel #art #oilpaintng

Sharing some paintings I finished today! These were all practice for a new series I'm working on, and I ended up liking all of them on their own so I thought I'd share! One of the originals is going to hang in my study, dunno what to do with the other two yet. #oilpainting #practice

Update on the painting! That's first pass done, going to let it dry and then start working on the second and probably third passes

020

Zia Ellithiel @spacegothprincess.bsky.social · 06/08/2025

Hi all. Not dead, just quiet lol. Anyhow heres a look at a new painting Im working on tonight. Big ol wip atm.

020

Zia Ellithiel @spacegothprincess.bsky.social · 29/07/2025

And an update to the Painting Wall. Actually been a while since I shared this. A lot of old paintings are now in their new homes or in temporary homes, which leaves space for new work. It's kinda nice to have more unfinished paintings on here than drying paintings.

010

Zia Ellithiel @spacegothprincess.bsky.social · 28/07/2025

I never did share these after Con but behold, a collection of some of my recent fits. Fashion will now commence.

020

Zia Ellithiel @spacegothprincess.bsky.social · 24/07/2025

A new work in progress. I have wanted to paint a nebula properly for a while, and the one I did last year was... not good. So I try again. One year later and I definitely have improved!

020

Zia Ellithiel @spacegothprincess.bsky.social · 22/07/2025

Share 4 years of your art 2022-2023-2024-2025 Honestly I think the biggest shift here is a swap from digital to traditional (between 2023 and 2024) and working in oils now has let me be more free with my art and actually produce more complete pieces!

020

Zia Ellithiel @spacegothprincess.bsky.social · 18/07/2025

And behold! My first ever table at a con! Come out to ctcon and support a local artist!
