Some personal endeavours make me feel like a mechanical calculator trying to divide by zero. Losing energy repeatedly grinding at an unending iterative task. I must fight the urge to try and justify this time use. Some things don't need defined answers. Live. This is a photo of the Fraser River.
View from Port Royal up the Annacis channel of the Fraser River, facing north east. Silty brown waters reflect the light grey of the foggy clouds in the sky, which provide a gentle fade to snow capped mountain ranges in the distance. Clustered apartments stand over the left side, rising above townhomes that act as a background for the New Westminster boardwalk. The Patullo Bridge and its new replacement, the Riverview Bridge, stretch across the river. On the right, Surrey is obscured by trees except for distant high rises. In the foreground of the right side, Shoal Point's industrial fishing port sticks out of the water, further blocking the opposite shore.

Life goes fast, so don't wait. Do things you love, with people you care about, and make the most of every second. Make your world better for yourself and others. How you spend your time defines your life, so be active in defining your life and feel better for it. Have this broken toy ride-on car.
A top view angle of a black open-top sedan style ride-on toy car sitting broken in a patch of wet grass and leaves along a slope. The steering wheel is bent off the column, and the front dash/control panel is popped off its mounting points, exposing multi colour wires under the plastic shell. The silver seat and wheels remain in fair condition though the black paint of the body is scratched in several high-contact areas. Water sits in the base of the inner body's shell, covering the left half of the floor.

Having family members perpetuating the same types of social/political harm that were definitional to our family's history as immigrants is frustrating in many ways.

It's funny talking to both tabletop game devs & video game devs because apparently they have two entirely distinct understandings of how games are allowed to work despite being related spaces. Devs I've met tell war stories of how different implementation vocabs lead to communication issues. Wild.

Drives me crazy that when older people talk about the "good old days" it usually refers to times where there were no upheld social standards and they didn't think about other people when interacting with them.
A low to the ground image of a forested path in autumn. A damp gravel road leads up towards a tree with a deep s curve in its trunk, bending from the base out to the side. Fallen leaves litter the path in reds, oranges, and browns. The sky is grey, and the damp remnants of a recent rain cover all surfaces.

When I talk to [traumatized] elders and [depressed] youths, they feel too similar. Suffering, bullying, ignorance, get normalized to them and destroy healthy relationships. Yet they often can't help each other because their worlds are different. Time creates a cultural language barrier. It's buns.

Asked if they were a scammer/bot and the account instantly nuked itself. Personally haven't seen that one before. Hopefully that means they won't be using that account to phish more people. Stay safe online lol.
Split image. Left side, text chat snippet cut off. Right side, suspended account page. Texts:
Anon: "saying they wanted to play a game and sent me a fake tournament link i clicked it got hacked and honestly thought it was you. The handle were nearly identical i panicked and filed the report with my friends without double checking, and now i realize that might have been a huge mistake."
My reply: "I had a similar copy paste "I reported your account" scammer send me a message on discord several months back. Can I get any verification I'm speaking to a real human right now and not a scam bot?"

It's hard to work together when using different base definitions for everything. Trying to reason terms of engagement takes up most of any conversation. Dealing with people who struggle to accept redefinition of ideas always feels like insanity. It's taught me how deeply important communication is.
A picture of Juneau, Alaska. Taken from the railing of a cruise ship, just above the Cruise Pier Juneau.
In the foreground, the pier walkway sits high above the waterline on massive wooden posts. People walk back and forth along the coastline, and a variety of tourists settle themselves by some advertising booths and a totem pole. A small park of light green trees and grass patches sits several residents having a cookout. The bright blue Historic Merchant's Wharf ends off the visible portion of the pier on the left side, underlining the business district.
The city of Juneau's pale-coloured, low-rise buildings create a partial dividing line along the center of the image. Hidden behind those buildings, the roofs of the housing district can be seen peaking out on a hill. The density of both trail off towards the right as the town's end gets squished between Mount Roberts and the Gastineau Channel.
The top half of the image is dominated by Mount Juneau, covered in wispy white clouds that rise like steam into a fog that hovers over the thick evergreen forest. Sun bathes the areas unblocked by mountains and fog. Closer, the sloping hill of the much less foggy Mount Roberts covers the upper right third image.

I'm constantly reminded that age doesn't necessitate experience, and experience doesn't inherently mean learning happened. I just watched an old person I care for do something very clearly dumb and face the (mild) consequences. I respect the elderly, but many still have lots to learn and discover!

Going to talks and conventions (Game dev, Art, TTRPG) and meeting lots of people has been awesome. Everyone just wants to engage, create, do. There's a lot of inherent anxiety to that, but the common ground helps people share their experiences and enjoy the process. Start stuff, community follows.
Alouette lake. A dirt cliff sets the base of the image, littered with small greens and dry branches. Below, a large lake ripples from the wind, only half lit on the left side due to the late afternoon sun. Along the left side of the image, a beach front (North Beach) is populated by afternoon swimmers/sunbathers. A sand bank stretches out into the water, where some people swim and play with stones. Across the lake, a backdrop of massive evergreen forested hills dominates the upper half of the image, with clear blue skies peaking above. The hills opposite the viewer are visibly shadowed by clouds and unseen hills.

It's hard to sleep while the concentrated wills of the power hungry burn down the lives of the people you love. But we must. (I say, sleep deprived.) Have to trust. Gotta rest. We'll each do our part to build a better future. It's a marathon, and everyone needs the energy to keep moving forwards..

No thoughts, only feesh.
A shallow pool in a rocky stream where cool clear water flows through. The gravel and rocks vary wildly in size, colour, and shape. Soft natural light illuminates the greener tones of various mossy stones, while the reflection of a clear blue sky imparts a blue hue to the water. Camouflaged amongst the rocks, somewhat central to the image, a small fish fry swims. (I honestly could not tell you the species).

Every person I've ever met who's an ass or bigot: 1. Doesn't know any better 2. Is scared of the consequences of being wrong Holding others accountable is a hopeful act. Hoping they override fear, accept consequences, become better. It's our responsibility to each other. Have this pic of Vancouver.
Clear skies overtop a vibrant day in Vancouver. Picture taken from Vanier Park, overlooking the entrance to the False Creek Inlet where boats whip by and the SeaBus ferries through. On the opposite shore sits downtown, with high rises staggered across the skyline. People are picnicking and sunbathing down on the beach, and many are walking along the long sea wall that follows the shoreline. The north shore mountains are layered behind everything else, prominently backing the thick forests of Stanley Park which grounds the left third of the opposing shore. In the foreground, some large rocks shore up the edge of a grassy plain. A single sparsely blooming bush rises from the stones.

As my friend groups age, most recent discussions seem focused on what being friends means. How we act in reference to each other, and why. I see a pattern of relationships lasting through honest discussion, with active accountability from all parties. Maturity displayed as care, effort, acceptance.
A bright, clear day over the Sturgeon Banks Wildlife Management area. The clear sky dominates the upper half of the image, with sparse clouds hovering mountains far in the horizon. A grove of trees trails off from the left side of the horizon, and dense tall grasses and bushes paint the landscape varying shades of green. In the foreground, a group of cows and calves stand grazing, black with white fur banding around their torsos. The majority of them stand around a single stripped driftwood log. Wire fences, stripped logs, and wooden posts divide the small grazing area from a gravel pedestrian path up on a small dyke, from where the photo is being taken.

Community cures fear and isolation. The lonely become selfish and vulnerable because they're all they have. When you talk to people around you, learn more about them, and create lasting relationships, you never feel alone. Make friends. Look out for each other. Prevent kings before they happen.

I lied reflexively as a child, feeling unsafe with myself and the world. Lies mold themselves to expectations, spreading like a virus and getting you and everyone else sick. Be honest with yourself, care about others health, and make safe spaces for discourse. It empowers everyone to do their best.
A Great Blue Heron sitting on an old, mossy log in the sediment-blasted waters of the Fraser river. The Heron's head is tucked in, neck bent around to inspect something on its own body. The log the Heron sits on is braced against a metal pole and its end is caught up in driftwood amassed along the shore. The shoreline backdrops the image but is itself hidden, covered by overhangs of blooming bushes and other foliage.

Note to self: Stop talking to the narcissist like they care about anybody but their own interest. It doesn't matter how well they mask it, they're always going to misconstrue every point towards their self obsession. All regardless of conscious intent, and you shouldn't fault having empathy to them.

Forcing myself to write things down over the past couple years made me engage in more active thinking. Iterating on concepts tangibly has helped me organize, plan, and memorize better. Ideas can be anything in your head, but if you can't describe them to others through any medium, they aren't real.

May unfortunate circumstances never kill your desire to do, create, and experience cool things.
A reflective freshwater lake, surrounded by vibrant pine forest. The opposite shore of the lake cuts the image in half, with young trees and a couple large stones on its edge. A small, lonely island of decent growth rests close to the opposite shore. Above the endless sea of trees, the mountain hills in the background roll like the ripples of the water below. Brush and branches peek in from all sides of the image, framing the scene.

In my experience people harm themselves/others because they're scared of changing themselves. Do the [familiar, normalized thing] rather than face new viewpoints. Latch onto the "easy" solutions because adapting is perceived as hard. Kill bigotry/patriarchy by teaching people that change is normal.

Deer Lake park, from a pathway lookout on the south side of the lake. Blue sky and mountain peaks backdrop the forested hills of Burnaby Mountain which loom behind deer lake. The camera is low to the ground, dominated by dandelions in the foreground and grassy wetlands that stretch down to the lakeside.

Consent is possibly the most important part of relationships. Clearly communicated social boundaries prevent unfortunate assumptions and help steer towards positive engagement. Play games under the same set of rules, and have more fun for it. When things aren't fun, discuss rule changes together.

There's lots going on and lots to do. It's easy to get overwhelmed so try to break down problems into smaller actions. Plan simple, doable tasks. Find out what you can work on, and complete those tasks one by one. Keep steady pace. That's all we can ever do, so map it out and keep moving forward.

Be thankful to those around you. Say it so they can hear it. Appreciation is often understated, as there's a lot of invisible effort behind the scenes. Letting others know that you're aware of and respect their efforts is easy to do consistently and makes everyone feel better. Here are some birds.
Some loons and ducks resting along a lakeside. 3/4 of the loons are propped up on one leg, asleep in the shallow water. The last one is swimming in from the right side. A duck cleans her feathers on the left. Way in the background, 2 more ducks are chilling on a frozen section of the lake. The foreground is sparsely grassy, and a little muddy.

Take advantage/enjoyment of the little things, and life gets much easier. Identify little decision moments in your life and use them to build and maintain momentum. You can use the extra energy you gain to give yourself and others impulse to tackle challenging things. Have a lil bird made of snow.
A roughly bird-shaped piece of snow sits on a baseplate made of snow on top of a rusty metal fence post. The post is white painted, with severe rust flaking/dripping. A bolt through the post holds a metal gate hinge, the gate is just as rusty. There's an alleyway in the background leading towards a single blue house with a chain link fence and a garage covered in snow. On the right side of the alley is a wooden fence, also lined with snow.

Time is strange. Short events become memories that last lifetimes. Small words can spread to influence entire populations. Simple acts of appreciation can give people new leases on life. Spend a few minutes or hours on someone else, could save them the rest of their life. Worthwhile trade I'd say.

It's really easy to become a bystander. It's also really hard to live that way. Own the responsibility to learn about life, people, and what actions you can take. Taking interest and agency is freeing. Know where/why to exert effort, and empower yourself and others to do so. Have a snowy stream.
A snowy shot of a stream at the bottom of a ravine. The snow is thick and fluffy, coating the topside of the trunks of tilted trees rather evenly. A stump (evidently recently sat on) sits in the foreground on the photographer's side of the stream surrounded by shallow footprints. The other side is covered in brush. The water between is rippled but clear as crystal.

I cannot stress the importance of dedicating spaces for yourself. The right environment is empowering and comfortable. A quiet office and comfy bed make productivity skyrocket. Surround yourself with encouragement and love, and people who show you care. You're worth it Have this shot of Whistler.
The Whistler mountain range peeks out of a sea of cloud against a bright blue sky. The mountain peaks are white capped with streaks of clean cut trails drawing down through the evergreen forests. In the foreground a ski lift takes colourfully equipped mountain goers up the run. A couple "Family Zone" banners ripple in the wind. The snow is crisp and well trodden.

To start this year I said goodbye to one grandparent. To end it, another. Life goes quicker than we realize and slower than we give it credit. Doesn't matter where you start, or even where you end. You have plenty of time, live your life. Do things you love. Embrace change. Have this little river.
A cobblestone shored river sits amidst a mountainous temperate forest. The river winds and ripples, with its stony beach piercing a path through the endless trees and high mountain ranges. The trees are mostly evergreen, though closer to the river many are leafless. The bushes close to the water are brighter than those surrounding. A fog sits around the crest of the mostly solid-green mountain peaks. A touch of snow sits dead center of the furthest central mount.

"[When things are hard] I like to remember that everyone is living for the first time." is something my sister told me a while back and I can't agree more. Have patience with everyone (including yourself) when they make mistakes. It's a complex world and people are always learning. Have the ocean.
On a grey cloudy day in the sea, the sky is slightly foggy. The endless flat horizon divides the image into two parts, sea and sky. A small whisp of cartoonishly flat-bottom round-topped cloud can be seen to the left side of the image. In the center of the image peeking out from the horizon is the curve of a rainbow, contrasted against the light greyed skies and darker waters.
The water itself is relatively calm but maintains large ripples and curves from ocean currents.

What's in a name other than the meaning we put in ourselves? Nothing. Like all words, in any language, the meaning changes as people do. Your identity develops meaning into your name. Not all will understand and thats okay. Choose your name. Your life can teach others what it means. Have a park.
A portait framed image of a park green. The scene is divided in two by a sharp line between a cemented path and a grassy field. The cement is shadowed heavily be trees behind the photographer. A jagged opening in the shadows crosses the line between the path and grass field. Scattered within the field are several short bushy trees. On the upper third of the image past the grass, a roughcut wooden fence is visible with a treeline behind it. The trees are a mix of fall colours. The sky above is a gradient light blue with lighter white-grey tones near the treeline. A radio tower pokes out from the upper left side, its base just behind the fence. Below it (in the field) sits what appears to be a fire hydrant.

A teacher of mine once advised to "Say the obvious, for it isn't obvious to everyone." It's so simple yet so necessary. Everyones understandings and experiences are different. Clarifying your thoughts/intentions creates accessibility, and avoids conflicts of misunderstanding. Have the moon light.
At night looking over the ocean. The moon shines bright over the darkened water, reflecting a long wide line between itself and the photographer. There's a slight fog above the horizon, creating a light gradient sky against a cool dark sea. The horizon divides the middle of the vertically framed image.
A single star is visible on the left side of the sky, closer to the horizon than the moon's location. The moon itself is centered in the right half of the sky.
Objects are visible at the lower edge of the image, though they are blurry and hard to define.

Happiness comes from within. Do what you want, become who you want. When you struggle it's best to reorient yourself and find what you want(need) to do. Sometimes it's hard or confusing, but set yourself in an environment where you are empowered to learn and grow and you will. Have some flowers.
Several light-purple petal flowers bunched up amongst some grasses alongside a path. Bright yellow stamens peak out vibrantly against the gentle purple of the petals, and the shadowed greenery below. The upper half of the image is in light, and the lower half in shadow, with the flowers blooming mostly along the center line and lightly in the upper half. A couple wilted flowers dangle below their lively counterparts, in the shadow. I know not the species of flower.

Having the freedom to post 300 characters of whatever comes to mind to the entire world at any time is a rather scary system to have unmitigated access to. These digital opportunity spaces for engaging in asynchronous interactions provide such wonderous and profound experiences. Here, have a slug.
A grainy gravel path with a long slug in the center. Leaves lay scattered about, and a shadow of the photographer's phone casts over the bottom left corner of the image. Original Poster doesn't know the colour of the slug.
