It's not about being nice. Isn't even about the high road. It's about the truth, period. Here's a real example: How many rape and incest cases are being mishandled and discredited now? Because of handful of highlighted false (or retracted) accusations? Fakes do real harm, to our people and causes.

That is a grave stance. You cannot fight a propaganda war with more propaganda. Why not? Because it's a lie. An easily disproven lie that discredits the very discussion/victims by its existence. They prime others by calling us liars, so every lie is evidence in favor of their entire platform.

Honestly, probably a lot of people. Even if they aren't explicitly saying it or necessarily thinking it intentionally. It can't be consumed, and must be destroyed; what are they suggesting to do? Keep it in a vault until the end of time? JKR turned HP into cognitohazard (only minimally hyperbolic).

I can see why someone would feel uneasy about it. Slightly closer to the HP topic but still generically: I understand the need to not financially or socially support/platform people w/harmful takes. But we have long been warned that erasing even Bad media from history can be a slippery slope.

If I may, and I'm abstaining from the HP talk for a moment just to focus on the concept rather than the specific incident: Discarding *a* book because of logistical needs is a fundamentally different need than active intent to eliminate all copies of a text from existence, or at least circulation.

This is an interesting thought, and one I will enjoy mulling. But I think that makes hobbies even more important. I can't fault the new generations for not knowing how to use technology that hasn't been in their homes their whole lives. But STEM toys at all physical hobbies solve both.

I also think they should be dismantled, and at least several of them investigated for war crimes and global trade and bank fraud. And while I think there are safe and legitimate uses in STEM, I don't trust the creators and I think generative and agentic systems needed to go yesterday.
