ok i say flirting it was more like. homoerotically charged bullying but only one of them knew it was gay. i did actually write a little short about it way back when but it was in my notes app on my old phone (broken) (got dropped in a toilet) (dont have it anymore)

conversation had shortly after arriving in ishgard. its maybe her worst decision of all time. it didnt go anywhere beyond some light flirting but it was weird for everyone involved

reanna: hey, how come you never told me you have a cute sister??
haurchefant, visibly confused: because i do not??

haurchefant contemplates the possibility of a secret second fortemps bastard child. reanna thinks about emmanellain being a cute girl

i have a reanna fact that i fear is going to devastate the general publics opinion of her but its too fucking funny for me to not share it with somebody

notes app wip whatever. theyre calling her the most mentally normal well adjusted cat of a time

lie, her mind screams, lie like you always do. pretend you're something better than you are, something normal and human.
she searches desperately for the right thing to say, the words that will make him happy and make her seem fine. they normally come so easily, but something about his presence makes it impossible to find them. she has to get away, she realizes, she can't think clearly when he makes her feel so warm and safe. she needs to run.
she bolts up from her chair and out of the room, not bothering to grab a coat or even close the door behind her. she runs through the inn halls, passing door after door until she makes it to the stairwell. she hears footsteps following her, maybe, but it's hard to tell when her head is all scrambled. nothing makes sense now. all the doors look the same and she grabs at handle after handle until she finds the one that yields.

she stumbles outside into the cold evening and promptly empties the contents of her stomach into the nearest snowbank.
warm hands wrap around her shoulders and pull her up, out of the snow and away from the puddle of sick beneath her. haurchefant turns her around so they face each other, but he keeps his hands on her shoulders like she might collapse if he lets go.
"you are not well." his tone is gentle, but his eyes are stern and leave no room for disagreement.
"'m fine," she tries anyways, because she is nothing if not stubborn.
he looks pointedly at the vomit on the ground, back at her, and raises an eyebrow like that's all the argument he needs. in his defense, it would be a fairly convincing argument for anyone else. unfortunately, she is herself, so she looks in the opposite direction and simply pretends it is not there.
