Requiring every state DMV to have NSA level information security is unworkable. There is a reason everyone in this industry knows that the best way to protect information is not to collect it.

I work in the tech industry. Sloppiness is the norm. Everything just barely works to the minimum SLAs Keep in mind you are proposing this as a legal requirement. How do you enforce it? How does a site prove that it is meeting the requirement without retaining data? How do you ensure data backups

Six months after that is implemented, you will see the complete browsing history of half the country leaked. That's why we don't do that

Mills clearly did not want to actually put forth the effort to win the seat. That she lost a Dem primary to a guy with a Nazi tattoo should be prima facie evidence that she was a weak candidate.

I took a semester on Revelation in HS, at no point was it considered a literal prophecy of the end of the world. The only other thing in 4 years of Catholic HS that even touched on it was a timeline with now, the end sometime in the future, and between those the Bengals winning the Super Bowl

This will be unsatisfying but body cameras document what happens in an officers presence and an officers actions. Flock cameras are mass surveillance. Scale and data aggregation makes it a meaningful distinction. If body cameras were used to continually record and aggregated so they could track the

Actual evidence is to the contrary. Bathroom bills were political losers in swing and even red states until very recently. Republicans running on anti-trans bigotry in 2024 under performed, or at least did not out-perform. It's important to stand up for human rights in the face of oppression, just

Seems weird. Presumably if a student in a dorm has a part time job in MA, they will be paying MA income tax. Obviously if you are living off campus either the student or the landlord will be paying property taxes. So the distinction hardly seems to matter when it comes to taxes.

Tom's position is just super weird. I can think of maybe 1 or 2 circumstances where if you maintain a domicile in a place and reside there for 75% of the year, you should not be counted as a resident.

It's just wrong as an empirical matter to conclude anything about your first point other than the polling was off. As most primary polling is off. The error here is in line with the average.

You won't get it if you did not live through the 90's. The GWOT was a massive, massive shift from the feelings of the prior decade. Politically and socially, it was the most dominant force in the country, and it was all-encompassing. It lasted 8 years this way, an eternity in politics.

Senate Dems are still regularly voting for Admin judges and nominees. That is the one power Senate Dems actually have and they refuse to use it. If they did across the board opposition, there would at least be something tangible to point to.

000
soundsilenttide.bsky.social @soundsilenttide.bsky.social · 01/08/2026
The attack is: Vance sits at the top of a government that is sending masked armed goons to kidnap and imprison children that look a lot like his own. Vance's colleague Miller is out on TV dehumanizing children like Vance's kids every damn day. Vance is silent or supports all of this. None of this

Sincerely enthused to be re-posted by you. If that is your position on this case, do you think that the people complaining about Moreno and his silence about the violence his son in law in Congress inflicted on Moreno's daughter and granddaughter are bringing his kids into it?

I feel like in this situation, Grok and the user should both be treated as the speaker, as there is a coordination of effort. The user directs the creation and propagates the image, but Grok actually creates the image. Both are actors that have a hand in the speech, just in different ways

If the existing options are distant or demonstrably inferior, then direct provisioning can make sense. It's pretty much the same argument as municipal broadband. If price is the only concern, then direct subsidy is preferable.

Was not really as big of a concern before because most people could rely on the government not launching witch hunts based on Congressional testimony. Now that is not a reasonable belief. So this is another consequence of the loss of the presumption of regularity

More than 1 I think. I expect most of the Cabinet would get question 1 wrong. And probably some from the WHCA as well. Also, Tuberville

I know the book answers. My position of late is that most of this is mythmaking and we should stop pretending that the words actually mean anything. It's just pure power politics by the SCOTUS majority. US v. Trump, Callais, many others, just put the lie to most of what we are taught in civics

You can argue that presenting the question as stated or instead handing someone 50K, and then telling them that for 50K they can do the coin flip are materially different in some meaningful sense, but I don't think very many people would agree with you.

the Declaration exists. 3 has many many possible answers, but the simplest historical one, and this purports to be a historical question, is "To replace the Articles of Confederation." Again, it's vague and not factual.

1 is a live debate. Until Marbury vs. Madison the answer was different, and that case was in 1803. With US v Trump we might soon have a new answer to this question as well. All Answers to that question are a matter of historical and legal interpretation. 2. Just a very vague question, but at least
100
soundsilenttide.bsky.social @soundsilenttide.bsky.social · 24/07/2026
The first 3 are not at all straightforward, and are a matter of ongoing legal and historical debate. The fourth is kind of strange to include as a civics question and is muddied by current events. Only the last 3 have hard factual answers.

soundsilenttide.bsky.social @soundsilenttide.bsky.social · 24/07/2026
1. Congress, 2. You can refer to the declaration but there were a lot of reasons, some not included there. 3. To secure political rights and power to wealthy land owners. 4. Trump's supposed greatness apparently, given the actual celebrations this year. 5. British Empire 6. Three 7. Washington

Look at it this way, if you choose the coin flip and lose, that cost you 50K you could have otherwise had. It's a forgone opportunity and that has a cost.

Why should prisons be allowed to delegate critical safety roles to other inmates? Even if you allow that having an inmate perform this role is acceptable, why on earth would that remove the liability of the prison officials? How does that possibly make sense?
