A lot of people don’t realize the dust bowl wasn’t a natural phenomenon. It happened when agrobusiness interests dramatically transformed the plains without regard for drought, and created vicious dust storms that choked whole families to death. That’s what I think of when I read about data centers.

companies ignore the law all the time. I've never worked anywhere that wasn't breaking laws. they comply with what they want to, mostly on optics grounds. here's an example: bluesky requires age verification to see dms and "adult and graphic media" where i am. twitter doesn't.

writing tips - experimental fiction edition. you might think that experimental fiction is the type of writing that needs the fewest rules. you'd be dead wrong

WRITING TIPS (EXPERIMENTAL FICTION)

1) If the sentence feels long, make it longer. If it feels short, make it shorter. If it feels normal length, delete it and start again

2) TELL DON’T SHOW

3) Your characters are not people. They do not have ‘arcs’, they do not go on ‘journeys’. They are vessels through which you elucidate the type of communist you would like to have sex with

4) Punctuation is fascist. Grammar is petit bourgeois. NOT THE OTHER WAY ROUND. (Plot is both btw)

5) The goal is for everybody to argue about what your book is supposed to mean. But if any of them get it right, you’ve fucked it

We just had a virgin birth, everyone! This creature is infertile, supposed to only be able to reproduce through an incubator, and yet the one on the left is a baby of the one on the right. PS: we've had some random strings of tissue floating in containment - turns out those were discarded fetuses.

Started with robotics, arduino and derivatives - it got a basic c-like language which made it easy to then learn c++. Self-taught by learning what was needed for work but it took years to get decent and figure out good practices

That's about it! This was our first try with stopmotion - my only regret is we didn't make more frames with smaller movement increments. The plastic (omelette in the photo) is awesome - super cheap as an alternative to 3D printing, can be reused many times, and you get to work with your hands!

Plastic "omelette" - NOT EDIBLE, DO NOT EAT...it's not toxic I don't think but still

But I do still recommend the magnets - they are incredibly powerful. They don't connect to the body directly, so we can rotate it while the limbs stay in place (u can see in the animation). We made the body out of five separate segments - two rotating hemispheres, two sliding "jaws" and the base.
