Soufiane @soufianee.com · 27/07/2026Started reading his article and I think I felt what Claude must have felt 120
Soufiane @soufianee.com · 07/07/2026I really hope the Safari team fix the issue with vh lvh and css positioning soon... 000
Soufiane @soufianee.com · 07/07/2026My design partners are fixated on keeping content visible behind the liquid glass iOS URL bar. I understand it looks more polished than a plain background, but the amount of effort required to make it work properly is making me lose my mind 100
Soufiane @soufianee.com · 30/06/2026When working on heavy animations or pages transitions, start testing on Safari instead of Chrome. If there is no frame drop on Safari, you can be almost sure there won't be on Chrome. Not the same story going the other side. 000
Soufiane @soufianee.com · 24/06/2026nanotags looks like the perfect way to write web components ! 110
Soufiane @soufianee.com · 01/06/2026New portfolio website, built with an Astro and Svelte frontend, swup page transitions, GSAP animations and content handled by Sanity. Check it out :) parc.studioparc.studioParc - Digital design & website development in ParisParc is a Paris-born studio, working with the world. Soufiane @soufianee.com · 20/02/2026I'm thinking about completely separating styles for desktop and styles for mobile. The QA process is so hard when you tweak something for desktop then realize you broke the mobile layout... 010
Soufiane @soufianee.com · 19/02/2026I finally stopped using experimental APIs in my client projects. I think I'm getting old. 000
Soufiane @soufianee.com · 12/12/2025It's silly to use AI for this, but I also want to own my code and deploy it wherever I want. The cursor visual editor at least gives me this option. But for now, I'm sticking to traditional Figma wireframes and hand coding with a bit of help for AI. 010
Soufiane @soufianee.com · 22/10/2025If I could reduce the amount of time I sink into this, I send an quotation 30 minutes after having a meeting with a client, I would be way more happier with myself haha 010
Soufiane @soufianee.com · 22/10/2025I find that writing estimates can take several hours and it doesn't necessarily lead anything. So it happens that I procrastinate sending the document, which might lead to missed opportunities. 110
Soufiane @soufianee.com · 22/10/2025I am looking for a tool that can generates quotations for potential clients. Something useful for small web agencies. Is there such a thing? 120
Soufiane @soufianee.com · 08/10/2025Agreed. It's just a stereotype that happens to fit with how that ceo guy chose to present themselves. 010
Soufiane @soufianee.com · 30/09/2025I guess being from Argentina and having a German sounding name is a dead giveaway 000
Soufiane @soufianee.com · 06/09/2025Yeah Svelte always had good defaults and structure. I will give it a try next time I need to use a frontend web framework ! 010
Soufiane @soufianee.com · 06/09/2025I didn't follow closely this release. What's done different than server action in react? 110
Soufiane @soufianee.com · 12/08/2025I'm glad that LLMs always think that I am absolutely right. If only it was true. 010
Soufiane @soufianee.com · 09/08/2025Made this mistake on my current project. Now am paying the debt by working on a weekend 000
Soufiane @soufianee.com · 12/06/2025Astro made me a better developer. Writing simple script tags for interactivity didn't make me forget the quirks of React. I got a call for a Next project I delivered last year, and I jumped back and did the task fast and easy, even if I've been away from a React codebase for a while now. 020
Soufiane @soufianee.com · 03/06/2025On a personal note, I am back in Paris after spending some great times in Athens. Stay tuned for more! 010
Soufiane @soufianee.com · 03/06/2025I also worked on a Next.js Sanity and Shopify starter called Photon (github.com/jazsouf/sani...). I plan to release a similar minimal and modular starter using vanilla Astro for a better DX and performance. 100
Soufiane @soufianee.com · 03/06/2025 The second on called Astro Shopify Sanity does exactly that. It's for people who need a headless Shopify store. I started by forking a popular repo by ThomasKn (github.com/thomasKn/ast...). I set up modular page capabilities through Sanity and I also added some variant selection logic. 100
Soufiane @soufianee.com · 03/06/2025The first one called Sanity Astro Club, is targeted towards small businesses that need to sell digital products. It's based on the work of @codrops.bsky.social. I restructured the data model and added a quick polar.sh integration. 110
Soufiane @soufianee.com · 03/06/2025Hey, sharing some side work with you all 🙂 I extended two starter themes using @astro.build. I mainly added @sanity.io for content management and some e-commerce capabilities. Check out the GitHub repos: github.com/jazsouf/sani... github.com/jazsouf/astr... 121
Soufiane @soufianee.com · 06/05/2025Maybe the solution would be that when a change is requested, no one else but the client and the developer are left on the chain. 010
Soufiane @soufianee.com · 06/05/2025It would be simple to just refuse to make any changes, but this rigidity is not justified when working as an independent developer. 110
Soufiane @soufianee.com · 06/05/2025Sometimes I think about how it would feel to own the whole chain from exploration to code, but it sounds kinda hard as well. 100
Soufiane @soufianee.com · 06/05/2025Working as a freelance web developer, you're at the end of a long chain of decisions made by other people. When a change needs to be made, you can feel the whiplash of that chain sometimes. 130
Soufiane @soufianee.com · 06/05/2025Developer aren’t the ones setting requirements for a project. 000
Soufiane @soufianee.com · 24/04/2025Astro with no client side frameworks. Web components as glorified script tags to help with lifecycle management and code organisation, but without shadow dom or other miseries. 110
Soufiane @soufianee.com · 22/04/2025What about the ones that do the work at compile time like vanilla-extract? What would be their impact on perf? 110
Soufiane @soufianee.com · 08/04/2025Haha! I enjoy taking my time actually. Still I manage 55-60wpm with this technique, which is quite average, but good enough for my brain! 110
Soufiane @soufianee.com · 08/04/2025What worked for me, is to slow down when typing. When typing super fast for long periods of time, I get some pain on my left hand and wrist, up to the forearm. But when I slow down, maybe using mainly my index finger like an old person typing but still somewhat fast, the pain disappears. 110
Soufiane @soufianee.com · 07/04/2025A swim. Cold water sending shivers down my back. The hot sun warming my face. A light breeze bringing equilibrium. It was a nice day outside. 030

Soufiane @soufianee.com · 04/04/2025Never tried it, but I heard about polar.sh for payment for digital products.polar.shPolar — The best monetization platform for developers | PolarThe best monetization platform for developers 000
Soufiane @soufianee.com · 31/03/2025Oh okay! I usually default to Sanity for client work, but if you have a publication or a blog you want to monetise, Ghost looks great indeed. 000
Soufiane @soufianee.com · 31/03/2025Isn’t Ghost geared towards digital magazines and news site specifically? 100
Soufiane @soufianee.com · 31/03/2025One looks like an established company website, the other like a crypto scam website. 000
Soufiane @soufianee.com · 31/03/2025Back in Morocco to visit family. Had a good run at the beach. Life’s good. 030
Soufiane @soufianee.com · 22/03/2025If I understand you’re talking about ai, and there are definitely good use cases for llms in many fields, but the money poured into this tech and the legality of how training data is acquired and evaluated makes the whole thing quite off putting. 000
Soufiane @soufianee.com · 22/03/2025Yes, but asking yourself who’s pushing that technology and to what end is a good heuristic in a world where one cannot try everything that’s presented to them. 200
