the full story won't fit the character limit, but these are for my heartsister Heather MacAllister aka Reva Lucian, who died 18 years ago on Feb 13th. made by myself, my partner Max, and our friend Telvi in a new family tradition, Heather will now have flowers all year round, even in a snowstorm.

My new poetry book bouquet of thorny rose comes out in less than a month! Published by the excellent folks at @echobirdpress.bsky.social

the first slide has the book cover, with large pink roses and thorn covered buds and the book title and author's name. a block of text has the event name and location, another block has a reviewer quote that reads "... just as tender-sharp and harrowingly generous as the title implies", and at the bottom are a small N95 mask icon and the words 'mask required', and a small black arrow pointing to the right and the words 'book description'.

The intention is resonance. To share as food or medicine or hedonism or validation. To upend the basket and sift through, perhaps to find a seed of your own. So often we go hungry, prowling the shadows at feasts we aren’t invited to. Seeking flavors labeled poison but tasting of home. Seeking antidotes for those they force us to swallow. Perhaps, for you, some grow here."

"survival thriving" 17"x19", approx 20 hours twine, yarn, roving, velvet in my private collection & made to compliment & accompany my mother Rita's quilt piece & my grandmother Billie's woven runner. making art around the edges of busy lives is a family tradition. making wherever we are home.
