Yep, I’m reading on BBC News app that this result might not be good for Burnham, it’s bad for Zack and the party (a 22 point rise!) Reform comes a very low 4th with a 0.2 > and no mention of Farage resigning 😤

Poor Larry, wishing you a full recovery and a tin of tuna

Indeed and isn’t it incredible that no mention from the journos about Reforms poor result, might only be a 0.2 loss, buts shows they are not gaining which is great, but no mention by Mason and co 🧐

Appalling behaviour by the police, but I have to ask why the staff who knew him best were not able to diffuse the situation, even if that meant leaving him alone for a while, maybe calm down, forget why he was doing what he was, or fell asleep. Maybe more to it, but he was in his own room 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think she would find the King is happy to welcome migrants and enjoys the benefits of a diverse population

But currently it 90%, I don’t disagree with the projected figures, it gives those currently working plenty of opportunity to pay into employer or private pensions just like us Boomers did, this is not a new thing

Why does it need to be a minimum wage? Do most pensioners have a mortgage, commuting costs, an additional car, children to support, usually not. Do they need to move house regularly, buy more furniture, usually not. Clothes specifically for work, no. Retirement is much cheaper than working age

SooWho @soowho.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
Yep, plus they pay for medical insurance and often rent for life. Most UK pensioners own their homes so not paying rent

SooWho @soowho.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
But your contribution to a private pension was tax free

SooWho @soowho.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
Yep 2021 no rise at all, 2022 a 2.5 despite wages being 8% higher thanks Boris 🤡

SooWho @soowho.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
Exactly, more euro pensioners pay rent, payable for life. In the UK 90% of pensioners own their home
130
SooWho @soowho.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
Exactly this. 90% of UK pensioners own their own home so are likely mortgage free. The euro pensions people like to compare are more contribution based, pay more in get more out, plus more are renting - rents are for life. We also have NHS, some euro countries dont, it’s not a fair comparison

Annoyingly it only has questions about limiting certain categories of fireworks, not an option to say ban them completely, ban public sale, or make them silent

So I guess Jenrick, Braverman, Dorries and Zahawi all agreed with Boris to cancel the 2021 pension increase and reduce the 2022 to 2.5% despite inflation and wages figures being higher? How quickly they all forget…
000
SooWho @soowho.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
Can the Express also remind readers that when their darling Boris was PM he cancelled the pension increase for 2021 COMPLETELY and reduced 2022 to 2.5 despite wages and inflation being higher?
000
SooWho @soowho.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
For all those complaining about the Triple Lock being reduced to Double Lock don’t forget Boris cancelled ANY rise in 2021 and downgraded to 2.5% in 2022 people have short memories
000
SooWho @soowho.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
And everyone seems to have forgotten he suspended the increase to State pension in 2021 as salary increase was high post COVID, following year it was raised only by 2.5, so to times triple lock ignored, one year cancelled completely and they are complaining about Burnham removing one lock in 2030 🤬

This pensioner is very happy to know it will rise with inflation, it doesn’t need to be compared with earnings

Wow! If you aren’t yet of state pension age you should be paying into a private pension, we’ve know about this since the 80’s, but maybe you had your head in the sand lalalala
110
SooWho @soowho.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Anyone relying solely on state pension will likely be eligible for other benefits, especially housing, fuel, council tax etc. they aren’t doing away with with pension increases, they are adjusting it, why should it be aligned to public sector wage increase? Inflation or 2.5% will mean more not less

SooWho @soowho.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
I follow NY Mayor Mamdani on here, he’s doing great social things too, I used to think why can’t we? It seems we can and will 🥳
020
SooWho @soowho.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Does it? Why does the pension need to rise above inflation?
110
SooWho @soowho.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
I’m a pensioner, a new one, I don’t think we need a triple lock, an annual rise in line with inflation is sufficient, provided the Personal Tax Allowance rises as suggested to close to £16,000 and that too rises annually with inflation
141
SooWho @soowho.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Not reducing pensions, say it was single lock linked to inflation, surely that would be sufficient? Providing the personal tax allowance also rises each year by inflation too. Yes I’m a pensioner.

Exactly this, if it’s empty make the council tax 10 x the occupied rate
110
SooWho @soowho.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
Removing the freeze on the personal tax threshold makes sense too, if lower paid workers and pensioners have more money in their pocket they will spend it, good for the economy and local businesses. Tax relief on well off results in money being saved in foreign accounts

120 Councillors resigned, or sacked since elections in May, several more suspended, they can’t run a council, how on earth do they think they can run a country 😂

Have to ask the question - if the Strait is open and freight is flowing freely, why are fuel costs still exorbitant? Something those voting in the Midterms might like to ponder…
