I still have my WordPress site that I used mostly for book blogging. I rarely post there anymore, but it's nice to have as a reference/record. But they have changed the UI, which annoys me. Need to get something done with Rob's before the next book comes out!

We bought ours in 2002; it's paid off now b/c we refinanced when rates were really low (around the time you bought yours) and worth more than 2x what we paid. Downsizing would actually cost us, so we haven't, even though we don't need 4 bedrooms for 2 people.

Isn't it a weird feeling? Even when I HIRE someone to be up there (getting the solar panels and gutter clean, for example) it still bugs me to hear them up there.

When I taught a whole semester of group communication, I experimented with different configurations. They did a group problem-solving exercise each day of class for the first few weeks, never the same groups. Then I let them choose who they wanted to work with (and didn't) for bigger projects.

When I taught classes that involved a lot of group work, I paid attention to gender balance. Never just one female student in a group of male students. It got easier over the years as the balance shifted. And the drops/withdrawals were much higher for the guys, too.

Very strange to watch Dustin May pitching for the Brewers. I wish the lad well, as I do most former Dodgers (hey, Miguel Vargas!!). But if he pitches well, I probably won't get to see my guy Walker Buehler.

I like that our HVAC company texts me the name and photo of the technician assigned to do our service. And then the tech calls me with an accurate ETA! I don't even mind that another customer's emergency caused them to reschedule our routine maintenance visit. If it were my emergency, I'd want that.
