Regularly talking about existing power structures, formal and informal, is a necessary housekeeping task for any organization that truly wants to be inclusive. Part 2 of the series "Activism from Within" is an exercise we use to talk about power in a productive way. okfn.de/blog/2025/09...

I wrote about #RightsCon25: how Taiwan is dealing with digital threats from China and why we should not sleep on art as serious activism. Mostly I gained hope though, through solidarity with human rights defenders from Taiwan, Palestine, Ukraine, Cameroon, Myanmar and the US, just to name a few.

Two days before #RightsCon25, I’m at a hackathon by g0v in Taipei. g0v (speak: gov zero; g0v.tw) is a large volunteer civic tech organization in Taiwan. Volunteers here created and maintains projects like Cofacts, a Line bot that fact-checks potential misinformation.

To all the people I just followed, who might check out my profile to see who the heck I even am: Please have this picture of my late cat on Wikimedia Commons. Thank you! upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/co...
A cat is sleeping curled up on a sofa. The cat is a housecat, european shorthair, the fur is brown-grey-tabby and white. The sofa is dark grey, with light gray and yellow cushions. The sleeping cat is curled up upon herself, with the paws sticking out. The image has a cute, cozy and peaceful atmosphere to it.
