A real departure from my usual style and palette, but these were a fun exercise in exploring negative space and rich blues. Swipe/tap to see both. #watercolor #art #floralart #creativeprocess
Watercolor painting of a white and pale blue flower arrangement in a blue patterned vase against a dark, textured background filled with intricate negative-space botanical patterns.

Karoo Silence Somewhere along the way, this painting became a meditation on place and endurance. Watercolour on paper. 50 x 70 cms #landscapeart #originalart #southafricanart
A karoo scene featuring an isolated home in a silent, barren, dry landscape.

I painted a portrait of myself holding a heron mask. I'm not sure why, but it probably has to do with the heron's solitude, patience, and migratory nature. I recently moved from South Africa to Mauritius and, like the heron, I sometimes feel I stand apart, yet belong. #art #portrait #painting
A small square self-portrait showing a woman holding a heron mask. The painting uses expressive brushwork and subtle tones to focus on the stillness and patience of the bird imagery.

Triolet, Mauritius First oil painting finished since moving to Mauritius. Drove past this old shop in Triolet and was drawn to how the midday light illuminated the sun-bleached walls. I love how old buildings hold onto the heat and memory of a place. Oil on board 28 x 36 cm #art #oilpainting
An oil painting of an old, sun-bleached store in Triolet, Mauritius under a bright blue sky with scattered white clouds. The white concrete building has peeling paint, vintage faded red signs, and shuttered ground-floor windows. Shadow lines cut across the hot street in the foreground, with a green road sign pointing toward Port Louis and Grand Baie on the left.

Middle of Nowhere, South Africa A quiet corner of the Karoo, South Africa. There’s something about a solitary house sitting out in the middle of nowhere—it feels full of unseen stories and old secrets. Mostly coloured pencil for this one 40 x 60 cms #ArtOnBluesky #Art #artshare #LandscapeArt
A coloured pencil drawing of a solitary, white Cape farmhouse nestled at the base of a vast, rugged mountain range in the Karoo desert. A rough, stone-littered dirt road framed by low wooden fence posts and dry, yellowed scrub grass leads toward the quiet homestead. Bright blue skies filled with wispy white clouds stretch overhead, casting soft shadows across the craggy mountain peaks.

Dappled Shadow at Ferney, Mauritius. You can’t have that feeling of midday warmth on the ground without the dark, cool shelter of the frees holding it in place. An older oil reflecting dappled light. A quiet look at how my process has evolved . Oil on canvas. 30 x 40 cms. #art #artshare #oilpainting
A little oil painting study of light filtering through the trees …
I wanted to capture the sense of standing in the cool shade and looking out over Grand Port Bay.

If I paint too soon, I copy what I see. If I wait, I paint what I remember noticing. A quiet morning captured at Ile d’Ambre, Mauritius. A lesson in restraint, soft light, and knowing when to put the brush down. Watercolour on paper: 35 x 45 cms #art #artshare #watercolour
A warm watercolour study of a little bay at Ile d’Ambre , Mauritius focusing on soft atmospheric depth and light.
