38) SILO (SEASONS 1-3) This is FALLOUT without the fantastical elements, more realistic and scarily possible to happen. Relevant too, with the AI angle. I was riveted; can't wait for the 4th season.

37) THE DRAMA I simultaneously want and DON'T want to recommend this to couples, ahaha. But I can assure that this movie will have you talking and debating afterwards.

36) SUPERGIRL (2026) The villain is so meh. Just some space Mad Max a-hole. I can't buy that Supergirl gets bested by this guy. But I guess it's not really important; it's all about Kara's journey to becoming her hero self. "You don't have to be nice. But you must be good."

Supergirl in her full glory, floating upright, with the sky in the background

35) OBSESSION Every dude's nightmare, yikes. Should've worded that wish very carefully and specifically. 😅

34) TUNER I liked the premise of this one: a piano tuner, wanting to help an ailing old mentor with his medical bills, gets involved with some thieves and starts cracking safes for them using his sharp ear.

Niki cracking a safe in the dark, with only the light of a cellphone to illuminate and guide him

33) THE WRONG GIRLS Like I've said before, I'm not really into stoner movies, but I've never seen one that had women as the main characters, so this piqued my interest, plus I like Kristen Stewart. It didn't change my mind about the genre, but it has heart within the silliness.

Frankie and Molly stand back-to-back, each drinking up a mysterious glowing substance from a small bottle

Aahh I'm so behind on this list, but lemme continue with a recent Emmy winner: 32) WIDOW'S BAY Deserves all the awards! Equally funny and scary, it's such a fun watch. Season 2 please, and thank you.

31) AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER (LIVE ACTION, SEASON 2) I'm enjoying it, I don't really have any complaints. *shrug* Bring on Season 3! P.S. They're really pushing the KataAang agenda, haha, but I still squealed at this:

Katara, her hand raised, about to touch and heal Zuko's scar

30) KUMUSTA I LOVE this show, the concept. It's cultural exchange, it's connection, all through the sharing of Filipino food. It made me hungry for our homegrown dishes, and proud whenever the Korean diners found them delicious. I hope there's a second season!

29) ERASERHEADS: COMBO ON THE RUN I couldn't help thinking while watching this docu on the Philippines' biggest band how a lot of their problems would've been solved sooner if they just talked to each other. Ah, men. 😅 Well I'm glad they've made up and are friends again.

28) GARY I figured I'd need to see this before the final season of THE BEAR, so I did. Not sure if it's super-necessary, but this special episode does add context to the characters of Mikey and Richie and their complex relationship.

27) THE PITT (SEASONS 1-2) Ah what a stressful show. But a good one. I love that the two Filipino nurses are the biggest gossips in the team, haha, so typical and accurate.

100

Jaja 🦋 @sonicpixie.bsky.social · 13/06/2026

26) STAR WARS: THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU I saw this at the cinema, and it's exactly as I expected - cute, action-packed, hilarious, and fun. Very GA-targeted and safe. I prefer my SW controversial and challenging (TLJ, The Acolyte) but that's a Me thing. I still liked this.

110

Jaja 🦋 @sonicpixie.bsky.social · 13/06/2026

25) THE WONDERFOOLS Another Korean limited series, but this time a fun and funny adventure comedy that is both an homage to and a parody of Western superheroes. Enjoyed this!

(l-r) Mr.Son, Un-jeong, Ro-bin, and Chae-ni all clutching at each other while fighting and arguing.

100

Jaja 🦋 @sonicpixie.bsky.social · 13/06/2026

24) LIGHT SHOP Pretty decent Korean limited series that is part horror, part mystery and gives the heebie-jeebies. What is with this strange light shop that's open only at night in this dark alley?

The Shopkeeper is seated at the counter of his shop, which is full of lighted lightbulbs and lamps.

22) BYZANTIUM Might be weird to recommend a vampire story for Mother's Day, but I would this one. Rather underrated; led by Saoirse Ronan and Gemma Arterton as a mysterious pair of vagabonds.

A mountainside with waterfalls that are cascading with blood instead of water. Bats are also flying about.

21) BEEF (SEASON 2) This was great, loved it. This discussion/explanation of the ending on Reddit is also an excellent read: www.reddit.com/r/BeefTV/com...

20) PEAKY BLINDERS: THE IMMORTAL MAN Aww, I don't know if I liked how this ended, but then the story of the Shelby family has always been tragic and heartbreaking, so I guess it was inevitable. I'm curious how the new series will fare without Tommy.

Tommy Shelby holding up a bomb that he's about to shove into a guy's shirt because he's challenging him, not knowing who he is.

19) PREDATOR: BADLANDS I enjoyed this one! Young Yautja with something to prove meets manic pixie dream girl android during a quest, and together they make an unlikely team as they try to survive in a dangerous planet.

100

Jaja 🦋 @sonicpixie.bsky.social · 03/05/2026

18) PIZZA MOVIE I'm not really into the college stoner comedy genre, but I was in the mood for something dumb and silly and this delivered, hah.

A tin box with an open mouth and the word "MIINTS' printed on its cover (it does NOT contain mints).

17) FRIEREN: BEYOND JOURNEY'S END (SEASON 2) Loovve this anime so much. Why only 10 episodes this season? 😭

100

Jaja 🦋 @sonicpixie.bsky.social · 02/04/2026

16) ONE PIECE (SEASON 2) Ah, this earnest, hopeful, optimistic show. I continue to see and understand why the manga and anime are so beloved. More, yes, please.

15) THE HUNGER GAMES: THE BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS & SNAKES I'm not particularly a fan of the franchise, but I have seen all the prior movies and was in the mood for a villain origin story, so I checked this out. Of course he was in love with the heroine at first, ahaha. 😏🥰

Young Coriolanus Snow facing Lucy Gray, their profiles filling the frame.

Jaja 🦋 @sonicpixie.bsky.social · 02/04/2026

14) THE CARPENTER'S SON I somehow end up seeing a Nic Cage movie every year and I guess this is it for this year. Perfect for Holy Week, too. What's it like to raise a teenaged Jesus? Interesting if you're of the faith, perhaps, as it's a little known time in the Savior's life.

110

Jaja 🦋 @sonicpixie.bsky.social · 14/03/2026

13) STRAY KIDS: THE DOMINATE EXPERIENCE I missed seeing this at the cinema, so I'm glad they released this digitally. The boys are incredible as ever onstage, but I'd also like to give kudos to the live band. Love the song arrangements they do for the Kids' tours.

100

Jaja 🦋 @sonicpixie.bsky.social · 14/03/2026

12) BRIDGERTON (SEASON 4) LOVED IT, BEST SEASON, MY FAVORITE. Benophie forever, ISTIGUH-INSTAGRAM! 😆🥰

11) A KNIGHT OF THE SEVEN KINGDOMS (SEASON 1) Yes, more adventures with these two, please. That was fun. (Haven't read the books, but I saw that Baelor death coming a mile away, heh. This is GOT after all.)

Egg and Dunk on the road, both on horses.

100

Jaja 🦋 @sonicpixie.bsky.social · 14/03/2026

10) WE BURY THE DEAD Another with Ms. Ridley as the lead, this movie was really about closure and letting go, disguised as a zombie horror flick.

Ava and Clay stand by their vehicle as they face a zombie woman (who turns out to be Katie) on the road, the lower part of her dress stained with blood.

110

Jaja 🦋 @sonicpixie.bsky.social · 14/03/2026

9) MAGPIE This was a proper thriller, I enjoyed it; the twist was unexpected and satisfying. Daisy Ridley in fine form.

8) THE HOUSEMAID I love how by the end of this movie we get some kind of superheroine against domestic violence.

A pair of pliers on the floor amidst broken porcelain pieces and drops of blood.

Jaja 🦋 @sonicpixie.bsky.social · 14/03/2026

OMG I'm so behind on this, I'll try to catch up a bit... 7) SIRÂT I went into this blind and didn't know what to expect. Devastating, that's all I'll say.

6) IT ENDS I'm not sure what I'm supposed to take from this movie, but it'll definitely get you thinking. By the end of it, it made me feel like it was saying that we're all trapped in this thing called Life and we don't know WTF is going on, so just eat the chocolate...?

Jaja 🦋 @sonicpixie.bsky.social · 01/02/2026

5) ONE LAST ADVENTURE: THE MAKING OF STRANGER THINGS 5 I just find it odd when creators admit this. 😭 Isn't it stressful, not having a plan or knowing what you want your story to say?? Maybe I'm just spoiled by the likes of Rian Johnson who don't start until the script's ready.

The Duffers and their writing team in conference, with Matt quoted as saying in the subtitles: "We went into production without having a finished script for the finale."

4) JUJUTSU KAISEN (SEASON 3) It's back and I'm dreading everythiinngg! 😩 Starting to get fatigued by the deadly games trope - SQUID GAME, ALICE IN BORDERLAND, LAST SAMURAI STANDING, THE RUNNING MAN, even DEMON SLAYER (the anime) sorta has that element lately... now this. Still a fun watch, though.

3) RENTAL FAMILY A sweet, funny (and a little sad) movie about connection. Brendan Fraser is Phillip, an American actor in Japan who gets hired to play specific roles in people's real lives. As you'd expect, he starts getting affected by the bonds he forms with them.

Phillip and Mia happily pretending to be cats while wearing cat ears and make-up.

110

Jaja 🦋 @sonicpixie.bsky.social · 31/01/2026

2) DUST BUNNY The premise reeled me in: Kid hires an assassin to kill the monster under her bed. Mads Mikkelsen plays the assassin, and rather unexpectedly, it's Bryan Fuller's film directorial debut apparently. Didn't think he'd do a children's fantasy as his first film. Fun!

Aurora stands in the hallway leading to her family's apartment, with The Neighbor behind her getting ready and putting on leather gloves.

Ok lezgo, I've seen quite a few already! MOVIES AND SHOWS I'VE WATCHED IN 2026: 1) NO OTHER CHOICE Another great dark thriller/drama (with a hint of comedy) from the brilliant Park Chan-wook, with an underrated performance by Lee Byung-hun as a desperate unemployed family man.

Yo Man-soo sits nervously as he gets interviewed by detectives in his house. His wife stands tensey in the background.

74) DEMON SLAYER: INFINITY CASTLE - PART 1: AKAZA RETURNS My last watch in 2025 and it's great. Cried over these Upper Rank demons with sad backstories. Akaza's, oof. 😭Non-manga reader here, so I'm still worried for my Hashiras as I look forward to the rest of the trilogy.

73) STRANGER THINGS (FINAL/SEASON 5) (SPOILERS) Oh, my girl. I'd've given you your unabashed Happy Ending. Sick and tired of another heroine 'choosing' to be alone. 😒 Still, I enjoyed this and cried; they nailed the emotional beats despite my dislike for some story choices.

Happy New Year! 🎉🥂 I'm ready to fight you, 2026. I already know this year will be a battle, but I'm coming in guns blazing. I survived 2025, I'll defeat this year's challenges, too. 💪🤘 (Pic of last night's usual New Year/Christmas/whatever-special-occasion meal: the ol' Italian-style spaghetti 😋)

72) FALLOUT (SEASON 2) This one has just started and is still ongoing, but I'm adding it already to this list. I know nothing of the game, but I'm hooked on the story so I'm in, mostly because of these two.

110

Jaja 🦋 @sonicpixie.bsky.social · 30/12/2025

71) SISU: ROAD TO REVENGE If you've seen the first one then you know what to expect from this sequel - a crazy, badass, fun watch. I saw some MAD MAX: FURY ROAD, INDIANA JONES, and RAMBO (just to name a few) in its action sequences, and it's funny, too. A true popcorn flick.

70) FRIEREN: BEYOND JOURNEY'S END Late to this party, but I loved it - its ruminations on how experiences, relationships, and deeds both good and bad can impact and change us forever, no matter how brief or small they may be. Deep and introspective for an anime, it's great. 💜

68) THE WAR BETWEEN THE LAND AND THE SEA This revamp of the Sea Devils story (without the Doctor) started out pretty strong, but felt rushed and sort of simplified by the end. It could've benefited from more episodes to flesh out its ideas.
