Nearly four decades later, there are still fundamental questions about where Mary was during her final weeks, who last saw her, and whether information that became part of the official account of her disappearance was ever independently verified. Mary was born Marie Jeanne Saint Saveur on September 12, 1938, in Wabasca, Alberta. Her father, Pierre Saint Saveur, was of Métis descent, while her mother, Adelaide Crow, was a member of the Bigstone Cree Nation.

Shawn Lamb, the man convicted of killing two First Nations women in Winnipeg over a decade ago is back in custody.

On a bitterly cold Sunday afternoon in January 2005, 13-year-old Mélina Martin climbed out of her mother's vehicle near Roch-Bourbonnais Park in Farnham, Quebec. She was supposed to spend a few hours enjoying the town's winter festival and meet her mother again later that afternoon. She never made it home. Born January 12, 1992, she lived in Sainte-Sabine, Quebec, and was described by her family as an ordinary teenager who enjoyed spending time with her friends and having fun.

In September 1995, 57-year-old Larry left his home in Delavan, Wisconsin, beginning a journey that would somehow lead hundreds of kilometres north into the remote wilderness of Ontario. More than three decades later, there is still no publicly available explanation for why he travelled there or what happened after he left Wisconsin. Even Larry's surname appears differently depending on the source. Canada's Missing records him as Larry Zink, while The Charley Project, Wisconsin Missing Persons Advocacy and The Doe Network identify him as Larry Zinc. Despite the spelling difference, the records refer to the same man and the same disappearance.

On the evening of September 26, 1982, 25-year-old Delia Adriano was only steps away from the safety of her family's Oakville home when she disappeared. Somewhere between being dropped off that night and the events witnessed about an hour later, something happened that has remained unexplained for more than four decades. Delia was engaged to be married and worked as a secretary for WearCheck International in Toronto. That Sunday, she had spent time with her fiancé, Danny Dutra, attending a soccer game and a barbecue. At approximately 9:30pm, Danny drove Delia back to her parents' home on Wildwood Drive.

A preliminary report says a Whitehorse RCMP officer dragged a woman out of a shelter by the leg and left her on the sidewalk for 40 minutes.

Roberta Lee McEachern On the night of April 7, 1968, 18-year-old Roberta Lee McEachern and 19-year-old Franklin “Doug” DuVal stopped at the Olympic Drive Inn Restaurant on Highway 59, just outside Winnipeg. At approximately 11:30pm, the two teenagers were seen leaving the restaurant with coffee and an order of french fries. They didn't immediately head home. Instead, Roberta and Doug parked on a nearby gravel road, where they apparently intended to sit together, drink their coffee and eat the fries they had taken from the restaurant. Within hours, both teenagers would be dead.

On the night of September 23, 1984, seventeen-year-old Andre Ernest Gauthier disappeared from Saint John, New Brunswick. More than forty years later, his case remains one of the province's quietest mysteries - a disappearance with almost no public explanation, no confirmed sightings after that night, and only a handful of clues that have survived the decades. Andre was just seventeen years old when he was last seen. At approximately 10:15pm, he was seen near Simms Corner on the west side of Saint John. It was an ordinary Sunday evening, and there has never been any publicly released indication that he planned to disappear or that anything seemed unusual before he vanished.

On September 15, 1978, 20-year-old Wayne Kevin Spark left his home in Richmond, British Columbia. He was supposed to attend Vancouver Community College that day. Wayne never arrived. Nearly five decades later, there is still no publicly documented explanation for what happened after he left home. Wayne was born in 1958. At the time of his disappearance, he was six feet tall and weighed approximately 159 pounds. He had a slender build, fair complexion, blond hair and blue eyes. One identifying feature was a four-inch scar on his right arm. He was wearing black pants and a maroon sweater when he disappeared.

On the night of September 14, 1963, 13-year-old Noreen Anne Greenley left a friend's home in Bowmanville, Ontario, intending to take a bus home. She never arrived. For decades, her disappearance centred on a mysterious blue car seen near the bus stop that night. Sixty years later, police revealed an entirely different trail - one even suggesting Noreen may have survived, travelled to the United States and possibly had a child. But neither trail has led investigators to Noreen. Noreen was born on May 16, 1950, and was one of seven children born to Harvey and Nadine Greenley.

William Douglas “Billy” Foster should have celebrated his 65th birthday on Thursday, September 10, 2026. Instead, the date passed less than three months after Billy was found critically injured in an alley in downtown Barrie, Ontario - a death police almost immediately described as suspicious. On the morning of Thursday, June 18, 2026, shortly after 9:00am, Barrie Police were called to an alley beside an apartment building in the downtown area, near Worsley and Poyntz streets. A man had been discovered unconscious and was not breathing. Emergency personnel responded, and the man was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced as deceased a short time later.

David Alexander Mitchell was 48 years old when he disappeared in rural New Brunswick on September 9, 2024. What initially began as a missing-person investigation has since taken a more serious and increasingly puzzling turn. More than a year after David vanished, the New Brunswick RCMP Major Crime Unit assumed responsibility for the investigation, saying there were several unanswered questions surrounding the events both before and after his disappearance. Two years later, David has still not been found. David was from the Rothesay area of New Brunswick and was reportedly employed as a flooring installer.

Benita “Bonnie” Tarantino was only 17 years old when she disappeared from Toronto in the early morning hours of September 28, 1985. One month later, her body was discovered beside a lonely rural road north of the city. More than 40 years have passed, yet the person responsible for her death has never been identified. In 1985, Bonnie was reportedly living in Toronto and working as a survival sex worker in the city's Cabbagetown neighbourhood. Some secondary accounts indicate that she had become involved in sex work when she was extraordinarily young, possibly around the age of 13.

Susan Anne Siegel was just 21 years old when she climbed into a vehicle on a cold Toronto night in December 1984. By the following morning, she had been found dead miles away. More than four decades later, the identity of the person who killed her remains unknown. On the evening of Sunday, December 16, 1984, Susan was in downtown Toronto. Toronto Police say her last known sighting occurred at approximately 8:00pm, when she was seen entering a vehicle in the area of Isabella Street and Sherbourne Street. That moment is one of the few firmly established pieces of Susan's final hours.

Bonnie Marie Joseph was a mother of five who was accustomed to travelling between the northern British Columbia communities of Fort St. James, Vanderhoof and Prince George. She was independent, frequently travelled on her own and was known to hitchhike between the communities. On September 8, 2007, Bonnie was seen in Vanderhoof. Then, somewhere between the life she had been living and the plans she was reportedly making for her future, Bonnie disappeared. Canada's Missing database lists Bonnie as having been born in 1977 and being 30 years old when she vanished, although older media reports have variously described her as 31 or 32.

Lilliane Lyle Ford was 42 years old when her life came to a violent end in downtown Toronto in September 1990. More than 35 years later, remarkably little is publicly known about the woman herself, and the identity of the person who killed her remains a mystery. On the morning of Sunday, September 9, 1990, at approximately 7:30am, Toronto Police received an emergency call directing officers to the area of Sherbourne Street and The Esplanade. There, in or around Crombie Park, Lilliane was discovered suffering from severe trauma. Emergency personnel attempted to save her, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lori Marilyn Pinkus was just 21 years old when she moved from Ottawa to Toronto in 1991. She had only been living in the city for a matter of months when, during the early morning hours of September 8, her life came to a violent end. More than three decades later, Toronto Police still do not know the name of the person who killed her. What makes Lori's case particularly frustrating is that investigators believe they have something that could ultimately identify him: his DNA. By September 1991, Lori was living in Toronto's west end and was allegedly engaged in survival sex work in the area around Bloor Street West and Lansdowne Avenue.

In the fall of 1964, 16-year-old Eunice Esther Bird disappeared from Prince Rupert, British Columbia. More than sixty years later, the details surrounding her disappearance remain frustratingly sparse. There has been no confirmed sighting, no known explanation for what happened to her and no resolution for the family members who spent decades searching for answers. Eunice was Indigenous, with black hair and brown eyes. Official records list her year of birth as 1948, although her younger sister, Wendy Redknap, later recalled that Eunice had been born in 1947. She was known by several surnames over the years, including Dick, Reece and Quaw, but to the people who loved her, she was also known by the affectionate nickname “Snooksie.”

Loretta “Lora” Ann Frank was a young Indigenous woman from the Tahltan First Nation whose disappearance from Whitehorse, Yukon, more than three decades ago remains unresolved. Although her case is often associated with 1989, there is uncertainty surrounding exactly when she disappeared. What is known is that Lora was last known to be living in Whitehorse around late 1988 or early 1989, and her family has been searching for answers ever since. Lora grew up in Lower Post, British Columbia, a small northern community near the Yukon border. She was the youngest of five children and was remembered by her family as a quiet young woman.

Sadie Mae Rogers had lived a quiet life in Amherst, Nova Scotia. Born on April 3, 1901, she had never married and had spent much of her working life as a housekeeper. By 1981, Sadie was 80 years old and living alone at 112 Cordova Street. She was known around her neighbourhood, where the people living nearby were accustomed to seeing her going about her everyday routine. On Saturday, September 26, 1981, Sadie was seen alive for what would become the last confirmed time. There was nothing immediately apparent to suggest that something was wrong.

Esther Jones was 55 years old when she disappeared from Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley in the summer of 2024. What initially began as a search for a missing woman would change dramatically within days, becoming a homicide investigation that eventually stretched beyond Canada’s borders. Although police would ultimately charge a man with Esther’s murder, one heartbreaking question would remain unanswered: where is Esther? Esther lived in the Torbrook area of Annapolis County. Those who knew her described her as a loving and caring woman whose disappearance devastated her family. Her niece, Esther Uhlman, who was named after her aunt, later spoke publicly about how difficult it was for the family to comprehend what investigators believed had happened.

Roman Perelstein was 45 years old when his family reported him missing in the summer of 2022. For nearly three years, his case remained an unresolved disappearance. What no one searching for Roman initially knew was that human remains had already been discovered and that it would take years before investigators learned they belonged to him. Roman lived in Richmond Hill, Ontario. According to his original missing-person information, he was last seen in the area of Bathurst Street and Orchard Heights Boulevard in Aurora. Canada’s Missing listed his disappearance date as July 26, 2022, while the original York Regional Police appeal described him as having last been seen approximately three weeks before he was reported missing.

Elodia Marilena Ghinescu was a 38-year-old lawyer living in Brașov, Romania, when she seemingly vanished without a trace in the late summer of 2007. What began as a missing-person investigation would eventually become one of the most sensational criminal cases Romania had ever seen - a mystery involving a troubled marriage, forensic evidence, years of searching and, eventually, a murder conviction despite the fact that Elodia's body has never been found. Elodia was married to Cristian Cioacă, a police officer, and the couple had a young son named Patrick. By 2007, however, their marriage was reportedly experiencing serious problems.

On November 8, 1945, just months after the end of the Second World War, 29-year-old May Gwendoline Walton disappeared somewhere in New South Wales, Australia. More than 80 years later, May's name remains among Australia's historical missing-person cases. Yet unlike many disappearances that have accumulated newspaper stories, witness accounts and police theories over the decades, May's case is remarkable for something entirely different. There is almost nothing. There is no readily available account describing May's final morning. No publicly documented last conversation. No abandoned vehicle, mysterious telephone call or confirmed sighting that allows us to follow her movements through the final hours before she vanished.

Irene Jacknife’s story remained unresolved for nearly half a century, but not in the way her family could ever have imagined. For decades, those who loved her did not know where she had gone or what had happened to her. All the while, Irene had been buried in Edmonton as an unidentified woman, her name separated from her remains by a mystery that would take modern DNA technology to finally solve. Irene was an Indigenous woman from Alberta who was approximately 30 years old when she disappeared in 1976. She had connections to the Drayton Valley area and was remembered by her family as a loving mother with a playful personality.

On March 26, 1978, 31-year-old Mary Jane Hill was found dead along Highway 16 east of Prince Rupert, British Columbia. She was a Nisga'a woman and a mother of three. Her death occurred decades before the stretch of highway would become nationally known as the Highway of Tears, but her story would eventually become part of the painful history surrounding Indigenous women who disappeared or were found dead along northern British Columbia's highways. Mary Jane's body was discovered approximately 21 miles, or 34 kilometres, east of the Prince Rupert city centre.

Kostas “Gus” Fourtounes was 40 years old and a father of two when his life was taken in Guelph, Ontario, during the early morning hours of August 25, 2005. More than twenty years later, no one has been charged with his murder, making Gus’s case the oldest unresolved homicide currently being investigated by the Guelph Police Service. It was shortly before 5:00am when residents along Elizabeth Street became aware that something was terribly wrong. A man outside was calling for help, waking people in the neighborhood. One resident went outside and discovered Gus, who had been seriously injured.

Cynthia Sunga was 29 years old when she disappeared from Ottawa, Ontario, in the summer of 2005. More than two decades later, remarkably little is publicly known about what happened to her during those final days. There have been no publicly confirmed sightings, no known contact with her family, and no discovery that has explained where Cynthia went. Cynthia had immigrated to Canada from the Philippines and was the youngest of five siblings. At the time of her disappearance, she was living in Ottawa with her common-law partner and young daughter and reportedly worked at a record store.

Cheryl Rose Roberts has been missing from Hamilton, Ontario, since early 2025. Canada’s Missing lists February 1, 2025, as her official missing-since date, while Cheryl was reported missing to Hamilton Police on September 5, 2025. The February date should not necessarily be interpreted as a confirmed last sighting, as the national case record does not state that Cheryl was seen on that particular day. Cheryl’s family had not seen or heard from her for several months before becoming concerned and contacting police. Cheryl was known to lead a transient-type lifestyle and sometimes stayed with friends or acquaintances, and periods without in-person contact were not necessarily unusual.

Cynthia Ann “Cindy” Peddle was 29 years old when she disappeared from Sept-Îles, Quebec, on August 24, 1993. More than three decades later, remarkably little is publicly known about what happened during the final hours before she vanished. Cindy was approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighed around 126 pounds. She had a fair complexion, blue eyes and curly blonde hair. When she disappeared, she was reportedly wearing faded blue jeans with pockets on the thighs and a pink or red T-shirt. According to the RCMP’s Canada’s Missing database, Cindy was last seen in Sept-Îles on August 24.

Roberta Marie Ferguson was 19 years old when she disappeared from the Cultus Lake area of British Columbia on August 24, 1988. Born on November 19, 1968, Roberta was the youngest of nine children and grew up in a close-knit family in Grimshaw, Alberta. Her sisters later remembered her as quiet at times but also funny, kindhearted and strong-willed. She loved drawing, dancing and reading Archie comics, and when her sisters were sick, she jokingly transformed herself into “Dr. Mentality,” bringing them soup and trying to make them feel better.

Over the last two weeks at Someone Saw Something, we have shared the stories of 19 people whose cases deserve to be remembered. Some have been missing for more than half a century, while others disappeared only recently. We have also revisited several unsolved murders where families are still waiting for someone to finally come forward with the information that could bring answers. We began with the disappearance of Chenel Dubé, who has not been heard from since August 10, 1970, and the heartbreaking story of Beric Bradley Bason…

Emanuela Orlandi’s disappearance is one of Italy’s most famous mysteries, but beneath the decades of conspiracy theories is a relatively simple and deeply unsettling missing-person case. A 15-year-old girl left her music school in central Rome on June 22, 1983, and never made it home. More than 43 years later, what happened to her remains unknown. Emanuela was born on January 14, 1968, and lived with her family inside Vatican City. Her father, Ercole Orlandi, worked for the Vatican, which meant Emanuela was a Vatican citizen even though much of her everyday life took place across the border in Rome.

Mary Boyle was only six years old when she disappeared from a remote part of County Donegal on March 18, 1977. What should have been an ordinary family visit became the beginning of one of Ireland's longest-running and most controversial missing-child cases. Almost half a century later, Mary has never been found, no one has been convicted in connection with her disappearance, and questions remain about what happened during the few minutes in which she seemingly vanished. Mary was born on June 14, 1970, and lived with her family in Belcruit, Kincasslagh, County Donegal.

On October 3, 2024, 45-year-old Patrick Garrett Chum disappeared from Cochrane, Ontario. Almost two years later, he remains missing, yet remarkably little has been made public about the circumstances surrounding his disappearance. Patrick was born in 1979 and is Indigenous. According to Canada's Missing, he is approximately 5'7" tall and weighs about 161 pounds, with a medium build, short black hair and brown eyes. He also has visibly missing teeth, along with several distinctive features that could help someone recognize him. Patrick has a mole on the left side of his jaw and a burn scar on his right calf.

On October 20, 2024, contact with 29-year-old Gary Brandon Reno stopped. At the time, Gary was living and working in the remote Pink Mountain area of northeastern British Columbia. His family would later tell police that not hearing from him was out of character. As the days passed without word, concern grew over where he had gone and what might have happened to him. Gary was not formally reported missing to the Fort St. John RCMP until November 1. The original police appeal described him as an Indigenous man with short black hair and brown eyes who might wear glasses.
