Good morning Thomas! We loved being able to see hummingbirds in our garden when we lived in Virginia for 3 yrs in the '70s. Apologies for the delay in sending the promised photo of purple flowers. I hadn't planned to buy asters but they were half price because they were due to be discarded as they were reaching the end of their flowering period. Being perennials we can plant them out in the garden next year!

My father was posted to the U.S. from 1972/5 & we lived in a house on a lake in Virginia Beach where we had hummingbirds in the garden which were delightful to see. The nearest thing we have in the U.K. are hummingbird hawk moths. Very amateur video of one in our garden last year below!

2/2 We have a passion for swifts whose numbers have drastically declined in the U.K. due to lack of nesting sites. We installed 4 swift bricks and all are occupied this year. They'll leave very soon to head back to SW Africa. The same families return for up to 30 yrs! Love from Jane 🥰

Thank you for your lovely message. The hummingbird reminds me of our 3 years living in Virginia in the 1970's and being able to watch them in our garden! The closest we have in the U.K. is the hummingbird hawk moth so sending a video of one in our garden last year! Love from Jane. 🥰
