New paper out!!! We report five millipede species recorded in Japan for the first time, all from the Ogasawara (Bonin) Islands! 🇯🇵🏝️ Also, we focus on two Prosopodesmus species with different adult male segment numbers (20 vs 19) to discuss the evolution of their life history. It's open access!

台湾原産の移入種・ヤンバルトサカヤスデの神奈川県三浦半島における発生状況を報告し、ここ20年の分布拡大の推移をまとめました。本種はいわゆる「不快害虫」のため、自治体のHPや地域の回覧板などで発生が周知されることは多いのですが、いつどこでどのくらい発生しているのかという情報はきちんと記録されてきませんでした。調査の結果、2003年に侵入が確認されてからおよそ20年で、三浦半島のほぼ全域に広まりつつあることがわかりました。また生態的なおもしろポイントとして、逗子市の森林内の沢における冬季の「集団溺死現象」を報告しました。 doi.org/10.32225/nkp...

論文が出ました！マクラギヤスデの増節変態に伴う体節の追加について調べました。行動・形態・組織の観察から、・脱皮前に上皮の陥入によって「体節原基」が出現すること・既存の体節の間に新規体節が挿入されることによって、筋肉の繋ぎ替えが起こること・脱皮の前に肛門節から糸を出し、そのタイミングで一過的に出糸腺と考えられる組織が発達することを明らかにしました。論文 doi.org/10.1186/s132... 日本語プレスリリース www.s.u-tokyo.ac.jp/ja/press/110...

Our paper is out!!! We investigated segment (ring) addition during anamorphic molts in a millipede, Niponia nodulosa. Through behavioral, morphological, and histological observations, we reveal the detailed morphogenetic processes underlying this phenomenon. www.s.u-tokyo.ac.jp/en/press/110...
