in light of the election i’d like to share this poem i wrote in august

even as you gloat in your victory over “tyrannical” healthcare,
even as you stare at the dead bodies of thousands and thousands of humans,
even as you ignore the pleas of humans who desired their own choice in the matter,

just remember, they could have cured cancer, or became the first well-meaning billionaire.
just remember, they were more than just a clump of cells, as you declare,
just remember, they were innocent.
