Why is the 1613 Two Row Wampum Treaty significant for contemporary reconciliation? How do the rivers heal us? How do we care for our rivers?

The importance of cultivating spaces for listening, unlearning, and learning; for all voices to be heard because those who speak do so with consideration; for sharing, healing and joy - Two Row on the Grand is where the spirit of the Two Row Wampum is embodied in the River. www.tworowonthegrand.com
The Two Row on the Grand flag is staked on the shore of the Grand River, next to a canoe. Two Row on the Grand is a 10-day paddling trip from Cambridge to Port Maitland in the spirit of the Two Row Wampum from 1613, inviting indigenous and allies alike to learn about and live the Two Row teachings.

Waterwalks are among the top experiences that leave me with immense gratitude for the renewed bond with all that nurtures and sustains us. The clear, potable water when I open a tap. The simplicity of finding joy in a bird song. The invitation to relate and be a part of it. It's all there. 🫴
The viewer looks down at two feet submerged in the waters of a small stream, a blue skirt covers the legs that belong to the feet. A fallen tree trunk lies across the stream, sunshine is falling through what must be leaves above the stream and creates an irregular pattern on the water and trunk.

An "if"-apology leaves the hurt on a hypothetical level, enabling the "apologizing" person to neither confront nor reflect on (and learn from) the caused damage.

"I sincerely apologize for my words — not only if it hurt all the chiefs in that room, but all First Nations," Ford said. Another "if"-apology that makes me wonder whether the apologizing person actually realized in which way they have hurt someone, leaving the hurting on a hypothetical level.
