It’s only Alex @solusestalex.bsky.social · 18/03/2026I have a record deck which connects to my Sonos speakers over Bluetooth. It’s buggy, drops out and really frustrating. Just upgraded to a Sonos Port which takes a phono input directly from the turntable. The difference is like night and day! #verypleased #sonos #vinyl 000 0
It’s only Alex @solusestalex.bsky.social · 02/01/2026Dear @BBC, RAM is a three-letter acronym, not a name, and should be capitalised as such. Harumph. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...bbc.co.ukWhy everything from your phone to your PC may get pricier in 2026The price of Ram - once one of the cheapest computer parts - has more than doubled since October 2025. 020 0
It’s only Alex @solusestalex.bsky.social · 24/09/2025Just happened to pass an Apple Store so had a look at the new iPhones. Feel nice in the hand. They’re good! But £1k good? I’m not so sure.. 000 0
It’s only Alex @solusestalex.bsky.social · 21/07/2025So as a follow-up to my last posting, I thought I’d try putting KDE Plasma on Ubuntu, which is my normal go-to. Whereas Fedora ‘just works’, Ubuntu is buggy as hell! (Note this is on ARM64). Have decided to stick with Fedora for now while I fiddle about. #Linux #Ubuntu #Fedora #KDE 001 0
It’s only Alex @solusestalex.bsky.social · 20/07/2025Been having a play with Fedora 42/KDE Plasma over the weekend; these days I tend to lean towards Ubuntu (generally console-only) for things but it’s been nice to give Fedora and KDE a whirl after quite a few years! 000 0
It’s only Alex @solusestalex.bsky.social · 13/07/2025Really enjoyed watching the highlights last night of #LiveAid from 1985. What an amazing concert. What a feat of technology at the time! It’s the technology that really interests me; I’d love to know more about how it actually all worked. 020 0

It’s only Alex @solusestalex.bsky.social · 17/05/2025Ok, my favourites are Luxembourg, Estonia, Malta & Denmark. Which usually means they’ll do really badly (sorry, guys) 🤣 #Eurovision 000 0

It’s only Alex @solusestalex.bsky.social · 02/05/2025You know that feeling when you go into a nightclub when you’re older than everybody else and you feel like you don’t belong? We’ve had local elections in the UK this week, and that’s how I’m left feeling after the rise of the right. 000 0

It’s only Alex @solusestalex.bsky.social · 19/03/2025Today I had the pleasure of driving a #Hyundai #i10 while our car was being serviced. 3 cylinders, turbo’d, and a whole lot of fun! Remarkably well specc’d too. Only gripe is having to disable the speed warnings every time the car is started. 000 0

It’s only Alex @solusestalex.bsky.social · 27/02/2025So, new #Bergerac. As my friends know, the old one is one of my faves, but I thought I’d try the new one on launch day. It’s OK! But other than the names and location, it doesn’t have much in common with the original. Will I watch more? Yeah, probably, but I’ll still watch the original more.. 010 0

It’s only Alex @solusestalex.bsky.social · 04/02/2025First dabble with Proxmox Virtual Environment going well - have migrated one VM from ESX using the built-in migration tool and built a new VM in-place - both are working without issue :) Next is to complete migrations and do away with ESX and rebuild as Proxmox VE 020 0
It’s only Alex @solusestalex.bsky.social · 31/01/2025What’s your guilty pleasure? When I have some time to myself and a couple of hours to kill, I watch old episodes of #Bergerac. I love looking out for the old cars, and there’s something appealing about how the place looked in the past (I’ve no idea how it looks now - never been to Jersey). 100 0

It’s only Alex @solusestalex.bsky.social · 23/01/2025Strange weather here today, but at least the roads will be washed down so won’t be as grubby (hopefully). Wishing for sunnier climes, however! 000 0
