It's difficult to miss someone when thinking about them reminds you of the sound of wood cracking under ice inside them.

Then again, sometimes she misses being bitten by the cold.

She leans over the railing of her tiny balcony, staring down at passing headlights. The wind tugs at loose strands of hair, still damp with sweat but now unstuck from her skin. It may be a while before she finds herself able to sleep again. At least the breeze is warm. +

I don’t think anyone here is as afraid of you as you are.

Her eyes flick to the mouth of the alleyway again. "So. What exactly are we dealing with?"

000

"Ninja turtles," she mumbles, a little amused but too dry to be obvious about it. “I’m not convinced you can take another swing from a lamp post,” she says. There's a brief pause before she slings his arm over her shoulder. "But that doesn't mean someone else won't try." +

So, that's the commotion she heard. Not a car accident, no. Giant lizard men. She glances at both ends of the alleyway, listening for heavy steps, breaking concrete, anything getting closer. Nothing, yet. Though Spider-Man's running commentary isn't exactly helping. +

It's at this point I realized I was lowkey just repeating some of what I wrote for the backstory in Margaret's info doc 😭 So, I'm gonna perhaps end my rambling here before this thread ends up being way, way too long

OH AND BY THE WAY. Trihex? Yeah, they're fumbling. They're desperate. They've lost all the advantages they had at that point, so what do they do? They destroy the city's primary evacuation route (a bridge to New York because the city is on a manmade island), effectively leaving hundreds of

She manages to get Henry back, but now there's a massive issue. And she can't just walk away from the consequences of her actions, so she decides to stay behind to try to stabilize the central generator, and Henry stays with her.

generators in an effort to temporarily shut down power to the part of the city Henry was being held hostage in. It works, but this triggers failures in the central generator, and then throughout the rest of the city, which then leads to an evacuation because the city might meltdown.

There's one massive central Aurum generator at the center of the city, and several slightly smaller generators scattered for each district. Margaret, desperate to get Henry back in one piece, resorts to a tactic she once used as a teenager, and she uses her powers to disrupt one of the district

This leads to a series of events that nearly causes a catastrophic failure of the city. See, the city's primary power source is Aurum. Think of Aurum as concentrated stellar/nuclear/solar energy (you might know where I'm going with this).

Henry ends up much deeper than he ever intended get, and because of his involvement and the increasingly apparent attachment between himself and Mars. And GUESS WHAT!! Trihex (Evil Mercenary Trafficking Organization™) decides they can use that against her. So they take him hostage.

be able to make significant ground because the organization could pressure Margaret, but they couldn't openly/publicly pursue her or kill her. Margaret could disrupt their operations and be a pain in their ass, but she couldn't dismantle them.

ANYWAY, shenanigans ensue. Henry and Margaret help each other deal with their problems regarding the existence of one of those organizations in various ways (sabotage, exposure stunts, etc.) There's a progression where each side makes moves that are increasingly extreme, but neither seem to

Margaret has significantly shit going on tbh. The TLDR is that she has ran and is hiding from two separate organizations that each have their own goals and motives. One of them is an active threat to her and others. The other one sort of tried to help her, but even that's a bit complicated.

He breaks client confidentiality and finds Margaret's work order which includes her current address. He visits her. This causes the relationship to start off kind of tense because Some Guy she barely knows figured out where she lives, and Margaret is already suspicious by nature.

Not that he doesn't try at first. Just that he's genuinely getting kind of scared. He realizes that it all connects back to Margaret (who he barely knows at this point) because the people harassing/stalking him have questions related to her.

𓅪 bird. HMMM. Well. Henry is told by his boss to lay low, change his routine, and avoid getting involved because his safety and the shop's safety have basically become the same issue considering stranger people keep approaching him after hours when he closes up. And OBVIOUSLY he doesn't listen.

BREATHES and yeah that's basically it! Except not really, but I've rambled too much already 😭

vigilanteism. He's very friendly, outgoing, and more perceptive than his laid back nature tends to give away at first. He's super into motorcycles (probably his most obvious vice), and he has a hard time backing away from someone who needs help — even if they don't want it from him.

He runs into her a few times coincidentally, but finds it strange that he's never seen her in the racing scene before or since. Due to his proximity to her, he eventually gets pulled into the same shit that led her to commission that suit so she could take things into her own hands via acts of

He met Margaret when she commissioned the shop for one of those "unusual requests." That being alterations to part of the suit she wears as Zero Henry was the one who worked on it at first. He's no tailor, but the suit Mars wears started out as plain black racing leathers stripped of their branding

/ He's a very close friend of Margaret! His name is Henry and he works as a mechanic/tech in a vehicle body shop that's well connected with the racing and modding community. Primarily because his shop can provide discretion — which is to say that they do illegal mods and unusual requests.

/ OH heck yeah! Omg... this means I need to start rifling through people's accounts to see if they have solos posted >:D

𓅪 bird. holy moly, i found this old drawing from like three years ago that i never finished. AGONY.

/ THIS IS SO REAL. i'm just waiting for a comm i got of one of my other characters to be finished before i make an account for him.
