Probably some recency bias+hype cycle in this, but AC8 is my 3rd favorite in the franchise, behind JP3 and Zero It's the complete package. Immaculately detailed, updated mechanics, strongest characterization, and great threads to the future for the knowers. This is our DMC5 it exceeded expectations

Completed just in time for Ace Combat 8. Incredible visual spectacle as only Remedy knows how to do, and much more fun combat after getting the weapon switch mod. Map busywork and menial tasks bloat the world a bit too much, and the zone-leveling system is an awful grind if you want those outfits.

Yep, that's the weapon swap mod I mentioned in the other post. It's early and a bit jank on swaps, but making fast progress on improvements. Being able to swap heavy mid combo is the biggest gamechanger in combo potential for me. Game's been really fun since adding it.

Finally decided to attempt the new Variant Dungeon Advanced mode through PF, and cleared with a handful of wipes while learning the mechanics. If this is about the difficulty to expect from the new 8-man tier then my problems with Normal are functionally solved.

ZZZ News: Patch today updated Lycaon to have DMC Doppelganger, where he'll attack and dodge as you do for about 10 seconds after tag assist. Stylish as hell, and has potential for wicked wipeout screens. It's good to see devs commit to keeping old agents relevant(waiting for Caesar and Zhu Yuan pls)

They rec nvidia drivers 581.57+ if you haven't updated in a while. My own testing on a i7-9700k 3060ti optimized settings, the game runs better, likely thanks to the new options. I could even stretch for medium RT reflections or turn off upscaling/use DLAA with GPU headroom and keep 60fps@1080p.

Ascent 6 FINALLY cleared solo. Cold nights + extra stamina consumption suck real bad. Got extremely lucky with 2 rescue claw spawns at the end of caldera, and a flare spawn in the kiln.
