What does the fight for #reparations look like? It starts with telling the truth about our history. @solidairenetwork’s member Allison Thomas has collaborated with Maria Giddens, a fellow descendant of Gwynn Island, to reveal a history of dispossession.

Solidaire Board co-chair Bia Vieira of Women’s Foundation California & Michelle Wilson of Women Engaged: “By funding the groups doing this grassroots work…philanthropy would actively help hold the line on democracy and protect the rights of all marginalized U.S. residents.” ncg.org/news/changin...
For all of the calls to 'protect democracy' over the past year, we have seen that an alarming number of funders and individual donors prefer to: Assess risk. Do strategic planning. Protect themselves. Wait it out. These are strategies of privilege, of luxury, of being cushioned from what is happening on the ground.

For Rachel Sherman, being a “class traitor” means rejecting wealth hoarding and disrupting the power dynamic in philanthropy. Class traitors give in unconventional ways, organize their base of donors, invest for redistribution and use all levers of power toward justice. bit.ly/npqseries5

Since the beginning of Israel’s genocide against Palestinians in Gaza in October 2023, the US has given more than $30 billion in taxpayer-funded weapons to Israel to enable its atrocities. Write your Representative and ask them to cosponsor H.R.3565, the Block the Bombs Act >>> www.blockthebombs.org
Black and red graphic from IMEU Policy Project reads "Israel has received a shipment of weapons from the US every 15 hours for 20 months. This week Israel announced the 1014th weapons shipment from the US in 614 days of genocide: bulldozers."

As billionaires & authoritarians consolidate power, people with wealth & class privilege are being forced to choose: protect the status quo, or join movements for justice. See @rajasvini.bsky.social's explanation of what it means to organize the rich-- organizetherich.substack.com/p/organizing...
What does it mean to "organize the rich"?

So many nuggets of wisdom in “The Future of Equitable Philanthropy” on SSIR, based on interviews with over a dozen leaders of color in the philanthropic sector. We are proud to be highlighted here and to see so many of our members and partners included. 👏 ssir.org/articles/ent...
Dominant culture teaches that there is a singular narrative, only one way is true, or one way will get us to victory. But many of us come from ancestries and communities that embrace multiples and many possibilities as part of how you build new worlds. Seeing multiples means there doesn't have to be any silver bullets because you can try many things or believe in many things at the same time. As a sector, part of an equity growth spurt is trying on multiple strategies and recognizing there doesn't have to be just one. - Tynesha McHarris, Black Feminist Fund, The Future of Equitable Philanthropy on SSIR
