On Sept. 15, the group co-sponsored a workshop with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) to discuss, through theater, the human rights of children in situations of armed conflict and violence. The same day, Elisa Gazzotti of the SGI Office for UN Affairs, a co-chair of the working group, delivered a statement on its behalf at a High-Level Panel discussion on Human Rights Education and Training. She noted that 15 years after the adoption of the United Nations Declaration on Human Rights Education and Training (2011), the first to establish international standards for human rights education, a large gap remains between commitments and implementation. She called for stronger, more systematic monitoring, including a more robust mechanism to assess implementation.
