We popped into town for a couple of hours and Ralph, who would never normally cuddle like this, has decided its all been too much and he must nestle into me on the sofa 😭

Avery Delany @softfutures.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

Ralph has reestablished his nook in the middle of the bed now that the nights are chillier Having never owned a cat before I used to panic he would get squished but he is surprisingly sturdy & deeply committed to occupying the middle even when it means he does get squished 😂

After missing our local Reality Fracture prerelease we decided to order 2 prerelease kits so we could do our own event at home (plus it was the cheapest way to get 12 packs) We've opened our packs and built our decks so far, and man this set looks BANGING

I was playing Lambrini Girls 'Special Different' for Sean and Ralph either REALLY didn't or was displaying the exact correct energy

#LGBTQWRITEATHON It's midnight and it has taken all day to get here but pls accept this humble first draft moment in Fire on the Horizon for day 4 I couldn't think of anything more foreboding than the first time that Kirishima unexpectedly encounters Bakugou after 15 years apart #mha

Despite a pretty butt day yesterday I managed to finish an ARC I'm overdue on in between lots of cuddles with the little boy. He hasn't been picked up yet so we're getting in as much JJ time as possible before he goes (😭) and then hopefully I'll be able to do some writing later on 👀

Avery Delany @softfutures.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

Little JJ is going back to his OG foster house tomorrow to be reunited with his sister before his adoption day on Thursday. Which means sofa cuddle times tonight 😭

Stolen my partners laptop whilst he's busy running a TTRPG on the computer and oh my godddddddd. I forgot how much easier and less tiring it is for me to work on a laptop (even if it is a chrome book, which I do not get on with) I miss having a laptop 😭

None of us had enough space and both of us were annoyed about it

000

Avery Delany @softfutures.bsky.social · 29/09/2026

Little JJ has been given the all clear from the vet to no longer be confined to crate rest as his surgery site has healed beautifully, so he has been wandering about the foster room being INCREDIBLY cute 😭

Avery Delany @softfutures.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

Got my very attentive work buddy who is making sure I stop for regular chat breaks and slow blinks at each other 😭

000

Avery Delany @softfutures.bsky.social · 25/09/2026

On a little trip to Exeter (mainly for a day out but also to pick up Forest Shuffle: Smoky Mountains) and managed to find not one but two books by favourite authors so treated myself to them 😍

We have a new little foster friend who is with us for some post-surgery recovery time. Meet JJ, a 3 legged kitten 😭

Trying to teach Ralph that Earthborne Rangers is already tricky enough without him sliding my cards all over the table and having to encourage him to sit in his own seat 😂

010

Avery Delany @softfutures.bsky.social · 22/09/2026

Trying to come back to our Earthborne Rangers campaign after an unintended and exact 5 month hiatus has been a little tricky We made quite a few mistakes whilst trying to remember how the game works but we managed to save one location from a flood and are swiftly moving onto the next!

Catching up on cat cuddles with my little boy and some cozy non screen time 🌌

Avery Delany @softfutures.bsky.social · 20/09/2026

Wondered why he was SO interested in my yoghurt and realised it's bc its the exact same tube shape as HIS meat paste tubes... So now I'm being screamed at bc he thinks I've eaten one of his snacks 😭 and now I'm HORRIBLE

Avery Delany @softfutures.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

Honoured to report that my little boy groomed me on the head for the first time 😭😭 He's recently started to be receptive to forehead kisses and books, and while I was presenting him with my head he deigned to give me some little forehead kisses

Half way through my #flightsoffoundry experience and still have 4 more panels to go 😅! This evening: 🦖 7pm survival fiction & Isolation horror 🌌 8pm worldbuilding, worldbreaking & worlding

031

Avery Delany @softfutures.bsky.social · 16/09/2026

I am really pleased with how my presentation is shaping up so far but damn, I am SO tired. I wish I had the capacity to start this earlier bc I cannot put in nearly as much thought + effort into it as I really want to but hoping what I can throw together for Saturday will suffice

000

Avery Delany @softfutures.bsky.social · 16/09/2026

#CatMeIfYouCan has become my go to "did a hard thing so I should reward myself" reward. It's perfect for when you're tired and need to switch off a little bit but want to keep your brain engaged by finding cute cats 😍

011

Avery Delany @softfutures.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

Made myself a kanban board as I forgot they exist and that I am not able to organise myself from lists Work has already felt so much smoother and less terrifying. Thank you little sticky notes

010

Avery Delany @softfutures.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

If you're anything like me and cannot stop the Must Continue to Puzzle momentum, then you will love this game but will absolutely need to have someone on hand to drag you away when it is time for bed bc the urge to keep finding and photographing cats is STRONG 😭

010

Avery Delany @softfutures.bsky.social · 14/09/2026

I have had many hours of beavering away at work this evening so I am treating myself with my first foray into the charmingly strange and cute world of #CatMeIfYouCan 🐈

Very excited to be both attending + participating at my first Flights of Foundry convention, and to celebrate I have an almost frighteningly packed schedule 😅 If you're planning to attend (or even if you're not) here's where you can virtually find me throughout the event! #flightsoffoundry

I have been resting in bed all day and been ignored by Ralph all day Ofc as soon as I try to do some much needed admin for flights of foundry next week he decides to commandeer my lap so I can neither use the laptop properly or feel my feet...

Ralph in his Very Clingy era today. He has spent most of it glued to my side, except for when he got in front of the TV as he discovered it was a prime Watching Dad Eat Noodles position

I did it out of curiosity having minimal interaction with Americans 😂

Redownloaded Grindr again recently put of curiosity for what the Grindr culture of Devon is like, and it INCESSANTLY subjects me to these horrendous AI adverts which, beyond the obvious awfulness of AI, is ????? Yeah, cause we all go to Grindr to *checks notes* kiss girls...

This week I have finished not one but TWO books. OK, yes, one of them is a novella but that's still as many books as I read in the entirety of last year

020

Avery Delany @softfutures.bsky.social · 24/08/2026

Finally jumping into my review copy of #Ledgerbound as I have the late evening to myself and already laughing at incorporating reading (and signing!) the T&Cs into the game 😂I imagine there will be plenty more laughing and signing contracts to come

Avery Delany @softfutures.bsky.social · 24/08/2026

3 books into this series and I continue to be in awe of T. Kingfisher's ability to have you laughing out loud to being dragged into a sense of genuine unease

We took a little trip to Exeter yesterday for some much needed city vibes. It was so nice being able to escape Torquay for a while We even got to stop by a lovely games shop that had an excellent games selection & some #freerpgday goodies. Can you guess which are mine & which are Sean's? 😂

This monstrous hooligan decided to try to wake me up at 6.30am for breakfast. His breakfast time is 10am so there is no universe in which it might be 6.30am He was forthwith banned from the bedroom until his actual breakfast time bc some of us need actual sleep 😭

Avery Delany @softfutures.bsky.social · 21/08/2026

Finally got to play the Sharks & Reefs expansion for Finspan tonight 🦈! My win was overseen by the Chief Fisheries Officer who complained the whole time that there was no real fish for him to consume & who protested by batting all the divers all over the place

I survived the dentist. I am now being closely monitored by Ralph who clearly knows Something Is Up. But by FUCK did it hurt & I cried almost lot bc medical/trauma sucks. I also forgot about the neurodivergent/chronically ill anesthesia resistance so had to be given an absolute boat load 😭

020

Avery Delany @softfutures.bsky.social · 19/08/2026

Having a bad brain time so thought I would do a little wordsearch to distract myself, only to be offended by this awful one. How on earth are you going to have a Powerpuff Girls wordsearch and miss the best Powerpuff girl out 😭

Discovered today that the town over from us has a WAY better library than we do. So whilst I was waiting for Sean to get done with his magic club (the magicianing rather than the gathering) I spent an hour there doing a communal puzzle & happening upon 2 books from series I was part way through

020

Avery Delany @softfutures.bsky.social · 18/08/2026

The premise for #Floralis is: "you are born from a tree in a post-human world ruled by plants". That and the horror puzzle platforming, reminiscent of Little Nightmares, was enough for it to get added to the wishlist. It looks super creepy and I am very intrigued by the worldbuilding here

100

Avery Delany @softfutures.bsky.social · 18/08/2026

Similarly to #Tukoni, #Missi is a cute and magical point + click adventure which uses beautiful hand-drawn watercolour art to bring the world to life. Here you play as a mama mouse gathering herbs for her sick son by solving puzzles along the way. This looks really, really nice + I adore the art!

Avery Delany @softfutures.bsky.social · 18/08/2026

No Signal Chornobyl is a creepy online co-op psychological horror game that forms part of a new No Signal series. I'm very intrigued by its premise where "your progress depends entirely on close cooperation with your partner [...] but how can you trust each other when you see things differently?" 👀

#HollowHome is another fantastic looking debut, this time by Twigames Inc. A Disco Elysium/This War of Minesque "narrative survival RPG set in a city under siege", inspired by the real world events of the invasion of Ukraine and "made by those who lived through the real events".

Avery Delany @softfutures.bsky.social · 18/08/2026

And b/c I can never resist a little promotion here are a few of my own wishlist picks. Starting w/ #Tukoni: Forest Keepers a stunning point + click adventure I covered in my Debut Festival post that I am OBSESSED WITH. It's so charming, so whimsical and so cozy. And available for only £6.36 😱

It's increasingly hard to keep up w/ all the fantastic games festival's happening on Steam + I sadly can't write about them all. BUT I can still post about them here 😈 Here is one you should definitely check out #UkrainianGamesFestival. There's even a direct you can watch! youtu.be/hJzDC_zpmnY?...
