Shout out to that one lesbian robot from Billy and Mandy. 20 years later and i still think about her from time to time.

Soe @soerikoe.bsky.social · 17/09/2026

People who are annoyed with indie animation dialogue/writing don't understand that "indie animations" are just internet cartoons with a fancier label. We don't view 2000s/Newgrounds and storytime animations with this level of scrutiny, so we shouldn't apply for works that are green to story-writing.

I've been meaning to go on a spiel here about the "indie animation writing" discourse, but there was a post on Twitter's for you page and decided to just say what i have in mind. i'm just gonna dump what i wrote there and apply it here.

Multiple sessions of struggling to animate a person going down stairs condensed to three minutes. This aint even from all the VODs.

With the recent pushback Lesbian Space Princess is getting, a openly cheesy but otherwise innocuous movie about a lesbian of color, I couldn't be more vindicated. "Don't harass Gooseworx! Let's harass these queer artists instead, they're not popular so it's okay." The Indie Animation Community.

Chimptopia reached it's kickstarter goal of 10k. While I think the initial animation was juat an irreverent joke about another indie toon and nothing more, I do think the ironic fans gained from the backlash really affirms this: There's no such thing as bad publicity.

The last thing I want to say about the hellaverse community, and by extension Vivziepop: If you react to minorities facing a racism problem in your community with vitriol and scapegoatting, then your community has a racism problem. People giving criticism and having empathy =/= being performative.

Soe @soerikoe.bsky.social · 04/05/2026

I wanna take this moment to say i'm glad that this post resonates with people. I was hesitant at first posting this, but it feels like a breath of fresh air talking about a controversy that's actively shut down primarily by a demographic that this does not effect. Thank you, all.

020

Soe @soerikoe.bsky.social · 30/04/2026

Bluesky users are so non-confrontational, they're willing to defend/downplay blackface because they dont want the people they like to face criticism for what they did. What Brandon Rogers did was indefensible, but fans are more concerned he'll get "cancelled" over the black people he hurt.

Soe @soerikoe.bsky.social · 23/04/2026

Do I think Michael and Ashley are racist? No. I believe their apology is genuine and it was a case of unfunny edgy jokes told at the worst time and place. Am I gonna hold it against other black people who are upset by what they said? No. Their hurt by the things the people those said. Let them talk

130

Soe @soerikoe.bsky.social · 22/04/2026

Instead of letting the people who caused the pain to apologize for their actions, you choose to disregard their apology and disrespect the people they're apologizing to. No one asked you, you were never the target of the jokes. If you want black voices in the indie scene, then let them speak.

Episode 2 of #CatchingUp had Claire in her school uniform but it didn't have Jackie! (I call her Jackie cuz Jacket Girl ain't a name.) So i wanted to fix that.

Claire: "Is that excuse you're wearing suppose to be outfit? Why the hell you wearing your dad's tie?"
Jackie (Jacket Girl): Shut up! If I have this on then maybe the principal won't get on my case. This dress code is fuckin' stupid! It wasn't even a thing before!"

I once considered this man a friend as well, to discover this information is revolting. So many trusted and admired him. And this is what he does with that trust.

I want to devote this year to making a handful of original animations. More quality over quantity. I want to make original shorts and not just Cherie and Carey. Also, I want to have more projects that have voice acting cuz it's was really fun writing scripts and hearing actors perform their lines.

010

Soe @soerikoe.bsky.social · 01/01/2026

I've made 5 animations in 2024, and 15 the following. Happy how productive I was, and i'm hoping the improvements i've made will be reflected for this year.

If you want to incentive twitter users to use bluesky, maybe dont kick them while they're down and say they deserve to have their art fed into grok. Ironically despite making fun of twitter users, native users want them to transfer over here because they dont really interact with people here.

last Cherie and Carey animation test for the time being. Storyboarding for the next animation will be around the 5th. Final cotl animation will be worked on in the meantime and posted in the 20th.

After roughly 60 submissions, I'm proud to announced that Ciara Payne and Noah Belachew will be Cherie and Carey, respectively! Thank you everyone who submitted your auditions for the project, was really fun hearing everyone's interpretation of the characters! Super humbling as well as motivating!

Auditions finished a few days ago, and I couldn't be happier! It's motivated to get an animation tests done in preparation of the project. It'll continue to be iterated on, but here's what i have since i haven't posted in a while.

Really happy to see people enjoy the recent animation. Went with more of my own style so i'm glad to see the decision was worth it. Now i'm gonna hop back on my original work. Cherie and Carey comic should be out by the 18th to 20th.
