One of the biggest changes for me this year is learning that you can actually be better or worse at listening to music. Taking more time to make listening to a song/album as "the thing I'm doing" as opposes to the thing in the background while i work or commute. Not singing along either.

This is one of the primary struggles of game publishers versus games media. Essentially games media is not needed as an advertising arm of the industry. When that was the case for enthusiasts, it created ethics in journalism issues which... became a historic event level shit show.

So a pop-philosophy pet peeve of mine has been that it sees Philosophy as merely an avenue for self-help. That if it isnt therapeutic, empowering, or produces wealth/prosperity than it is bad philosophy or con-artistry. But a lot of philosophy is about confronting ideas that may be true and bad.

SocraTetris @socratetris.bsky.social · 25/09/2026

People be saying Slop whenever they mean something bad. But its connotation is meant to be volume without concern for quality. But they arent making a distinction between something that is low quality or amateur. People should be given the space to make things poorly before they make things well.

Cuz i been thinking about it. While I ultimately admire Romero and Night of The Living Dead for the goal of deracializing the ghouls away from the offensive zombie media of the prior eras, I feel it was foolish. One that ultimately worked, but I'm still working out how to describe Haitian erasure

And as everyone in the sciences knows, data collection is made more reliable and randomizing your method over short timescales!

Y'all, you can't mandate that Spanish is never spoken during work hours. You can emphasize the importance of making sure all parties involved are part of the conversation. But paranoia of what is being said in a language you dont understand is not grounds for a discriminating policy.

Still playing Enotria. Have to admit "School of Johnny" is a very funny location name. Another note, I think this game's concept of theatre is very different than the Commedia D'ell Arte inspiration. That was all about archetypes, physical performance/play, slapstick. Which allow it to cross

Enotria is a very odd Soulslike. It feels overtuned when playing on Soulslike mode, and undertuned when on Storymode. If anything, tho, its the sound design of this early level that is grating on me. Music ✔️, Ambient Noise ✔️, Diagetic Music ✔️, second band of Diagetic Music at same time ✔️,

Does Games Preservation also mean?: Public Access Ease of Distribution Playability Sales Typically a museum collection preserves more than it curates and presents. A typical museum-goer is not given access to that collection for the sake of better preservation. Is this the same for games?

It never ceases to amaze that algorithm driven "content" has dictated the best way to get attention to a video is use an extremely vague title with buzzwords, then hide a bunch of metadata out of site. "The HYPERBOLE of POPULAR THING is SCARY ADJECTIVES!" then BAM, a Settlers of Catan video.
