If we treat people as they ought to be, we can help them become what they are actually capable of becoming,” describing how, for example, treating a jobless, homeless vagrant who is known for petty theft as exactly that, a homeless unemployed criminal, then they will become even worse than that in short order. But, if we treat them not as a homeless jobless vagrant doing petty crime but as a person with brilliant potential in (insert field here), then that person will begin to embody such a description of themselves in equally short order, making the world and our society a better place in the process.
