It rocks that the up and coming American soccer star has a pronounced Delco accent.

The publicly-traded Rodger buying MLSE means we could get some juicy MLS details on their earnings calls and financial disclosures.

More and more am I convinced that Liverpool and Philly are intrinsically linked because had the most SEPTA-ass experience trying to take Liverpool, it felt like being home.

Sat through an AI in the law talk at this conference, and more and more I think lots of very pro-AI folks have no idea how expertise works and kept bring me back to this god damned Rumsfeld quote:

Why stop there? Why not ask him to send the RSF to sack London like they did El Fasher?

Given his age when these deals were signed, there’s a lot of possible scenarios where Cavan could conceivably walk from the City deal, even when you put aside the issues with the PL breaches and potential sanctions.

Risky investments by their nature have big upsides. There’s a reason why Wrexham’s academy page is blank, and no one really talks about their academy as part of their “success story.”

One of my many complaints about American football rules, is that if it only takes the ball to break the plane for a touchdown, the location of the ball should be what determines if someone has gone out of bounds, not the ball carrier’s feet.

I understand the urge to see this and say “we need AI regulation now”, and I agree we do (along with a whole host of national digital consumer protection laws), but what’s happening here are straight up crimes, and the people wielding these agents should be prosecuted for them.

The “shared bond” was neo-cons shouting down anyone that had any modicum of skepticism towards the acts of the Bush administration’s response to the tragedy, including lying about the reason to go to war with country that had no relation to the attacks whatsoever.

EMERGENCY NEWSLETTER: The Balogun Saga: andrewvisnovsky.substack.com/p/emergency-...
The image reads: At best, it seems like there were some big communication issues with how Everton went about the medical process and proposed those new terms, to the point that it put Balogun off to the whole move.

At worst, Everton stirred up non-issue with the medical for the explicit purpose to shave off costs from the deal.

Currently, we can’t say for certain, what the medical issue was, but there were reports that Balogun had a minor fitness concern on his return from the 2026 men’s World Cup, and his road back to first-team training was delayed.

It could be that Monaco was underplaying the injury when they reported his back-to-training schedule to protect his transfer prospects. But if that were the case, they wouldn’t have begun the process to transfer another striker to Chelsea when it looked like deal was off.

More spend doesn’t change the Domestic player pool, and the Domestic player pool makes up ~75% of the league’s rosters, so increasing spend, at least in the mid term just makes those players more expensive for clubs:

Wrote a little about an oft-ignored MLS roster rule. One that winds up being a serious hurdle for MLS improving on-field quality by increasing roster budgets: International Roster Slots. Solving the problem isn’t as easy as you might think. A very different International Players’ Anthem:

As the PL season starts and we get “viral” content promoting Erling Haaland being exceptionally silly and likable, I need to continue to point out that all that PR is a key strategic piece to City’s owner Sheikh Mansour’s funding of the horrors happening in Sudan:

Heroism, horror and the ‘pits of hell’: inside the last days of El Fasher
Over two days in October 2025, up to 10,000 people are believed to have been massacred; a further 40,000 civillians from the Sudanese city are still unaccounted for. This is the story of what happened

Dog I am not a Bezos fan in the slightest, but an $8bn valuation doesn’t even crack the top 10 of most valuable American sports teams, and Liverpool has a larger global fan base than nearly all of them. There’s a lot of room for increases value without needing to dip into conspiracy theories.

Hi hello, I wrote about how the cap-and-floor salary budget model isn’t that revolutionary, and also doest really help to grow MLS. Related: I’m bringing back the (free) newsletter. Hoping for posts each week or so (I have a job and a toddler tho, so don’t hold me to it!) Like & subscribe, etc…

In practice their commission is determined by player’s salary that they negotiate on behalf of the player. The bigger the salary, the bigger the commission. Not only do they absolutely work for the players, they have a fiduciary duty to them.

The only time an agent issue would hold up a transfer is if an agent inked a deal for a player without the player’s knowledge. Even if a complaint is sent to the FIFA agent chamber, if the player intends to move yhe transfer would still go through, and any agent issue would be handled separately.

That’s not what FIFA was trying to do at all. It was much worse. FIFA was trying to bribe its members to agree sell off a chunk of the “SUM of FIFA” to private investors. SUM itself was and is (for now) still wholly owned by MLS shareholders.

Andrew Visnovsky @soccerlawyer.bsky.social · 02/08/2026
I’ve been fuming since Don Garber said League’s Cup was the original “In Season Tournament” but comparing it to Infantino selling off FIFA for parts to private equity is just an absurd stretch. MLS is already doing the private equity thing, no need to bring up Leagues Cup in that critique.

Love the implication here that players simply should have no say in their employment/compensation, or shouldn’t hire representatives to negotiate their employment terms.

To further illustrate: Ben Shapiro and bigoted dorks over at the Daily Wire tried to do a documentary about men playing women’s sports, but couldn’t find anyone willing to go through the intensive hormone treatments required for the bit, so they made a scripted comedy instead.

It’s completely exhausting and disheartening that every freaking thing now has to be politicized by bad faith actors. There are no men clamoring to play in the WNBA. Thats just a stupid premise for a question. I’m just so disillusioned by it all.

FIFA is not in the habit of leaving money lying on the table. Whether it's Infantino or someone else, this kind of thing will pop up again and next time it will be packaged and rolled out in a more politically savvy way.

The fact that people (not just men) decide to put their lives on the line for their fellow citizens is something that should absolutely be lauded and sentimentalized, ESPECIALLY because doing so will very likely break them in some way.

Lotta snide comments about FIFA staff and employees speaking out against Infantino’s this private equity pitch. FIFA’s corruption is what it is, BUT FIFA is not a political party, corruption isn’t its platform, and it generally does not trickle down to staff that runs the day-to day.
