Here's a super cute concept of Leafpool by @meowzersowo.bsky.social, based on the quail! What do you think of this design? #warriorcats #warriors #soaringthree

Digital illustration of Leafpool, a brown tabby cat with wings and bird feet in place of her back paws. She has a little hair tuft on the top of her head like a quail. There are two poses of her: on the left she's standing idle, and on the right she's flying, looking at something off-screen.

A little while back the team decided on a bird for Breezepelt: the stellar jay! We figured it would be a perfect parallel to Jayfeather's jay bird, and a nod to the fact that they're related, as are the two corvids! This led to some spontaneous yet beautiful concept art by our character designers!

A collection of design pitches depicting Breezepelt from Warrior Cats. There are five designs in total which are labelled with letters from A to E. He is an black-and-blue cat with amber eyes and large wings across all of the depictions. He has bird feet in place of his back legs. The different depictions focus on his general shape, hue, and markings.

Digital illustration featuring Sol, a black-and-white cat with a red mane and wings and bird feet in place of his back paws. There are two poses of him, one where he's walking away with a smug expression, and one where he's glaring into the camera with a smile.

A step-by-step look at some stunning clouds from a pitch by our background director @waiako.bsky.social!

A step-by-step guide on how to draw clouds in this presented style pitch. There are four steps, each with notes.

Step one says: "Refine edges at step 4!
Base shape with the lasso tool.
Vary bubble sizes.
NEVER use pure white & avoid pure grays
base color can either be the shading's base color or light base color (in this example, the base color of my cloud is based on the shaded colors. I'm gonna define lighted areas at step 2."

Step two says: "Define your main lights & shaded areas.
NEVER use pure white!
Big chunks or light is better than several little spots here & there.
Find balance between the amount of light & shading.
You shall use A LOT of references!!
Work on the volume of your cloud before working on the next step. No amount of sparkles and glow will save your cloud if the volume looks off."

Step three says: "Add details to your lights & shadows.
Use reflective light on the bottom on your cloud.
Play around with hues! A monochrome cloud is a boring cloud."

Step four says: "Cut edges here & there (careful not too much).
Use a textured smudge tool to blur the cloud's edges a little (Towards the same direction or your cloud will look like a dandelion).
Add a layer on top (overlay) and add a big chunk of light with a airbrush.
Add a layer behind everything and trace the cloud's edges with a smaller airbrush (Avoid pure white in most cases. Play with more saturated colors)."

Since we got our character style down, our artists are now exploring background styles! Here's a beautiful pitch by Angawd, featuring various types of foliage and rocks! Our inspirations include the Lion Guard, Leafie: A Hen Into the Wild, and various fandom artists! #warriors #soaringthree

Digital illustration of a background style pitch featuring various different aspects of nature. There are trees, bushes, rocks, and even floating islands. There's a particular focus on a pine tree, breaking down the different artistic stages like the base, body, and details.

Notes and color swabs are scattered throughout the pitch. The notes referring to the islands are saying: "I used varying hues for these islands in the distance. I think having a variety of colors would compliment the bird design aspects well, though obviously the characters' colors shouldn't get lost or overpowered by the background colors. Muted hues are probably the way to go for certain compositions?"

There are also notes pointing to the pine tree breakdown, a bush, and some rocks that say: "Kind of wanted to add an indication of lines here. I'm not sure a fully painted background would fit well with our established character style - maybe try lasso tool combined with textures and indications of lines without doing full line art around everything?"

A small note next to some of the rocks can also be seen, which says: "Inspired by Lion Guard pilot rocks."

Concept art of ShadowFlock's islands by the amazing @waiako.bsky.social! ShadowFlock's islands are cold and unwelcoming, with decaying pine trees and scarce prey. And yet, the feligryphs still choose to dwell on these lands. Why could that be? #Warriors #WarriorCats

Digital painting of several floating islands with decaying pine trees planted on top of them. They are heavily cast in shadow from the sunset with winged cats lurking on them, only visible as silhouettes.

Take a look at this glorious concept of RiverClan's floating islands by @kmc-bird.bsky.social! In Soaring Three, the floating islands are the result of a small lack of gravity. If you look closely, you can even see bubbles next to the waterfalls 🫧✨️ What's your favorite moment in Power of Three?

Some gorgeous Moonpool concepts by Braver! Since floating islands are a major part of the environments within #soaringthree, the second concept explores the idea of the Moonpool's waters flowing from them. Behind the waterfall is also the den of someone very important... can you guess who it is?

Digital illustration of the Moonpool from Warrior Cats. Depicted is a pile of rocks with bright blue water flowing into a pool in the middle with the reflection of the moon shining inside it. There is text on the top that says "Moonpool".

The floating islands are connected with vines and bright blue water is flowing from one of them into the Moonpool below. Surrounding the pool are rocks piled on top of each other. This was of course a huge obstacle, seeing as our cast consists of winged cats. So with help from the lovely @showtunecockatoo.bsky.social and Wind we managed to rework the wings into what you see now, illustrated by @rosia4309.bsky.social! What do you think of these new wings? Let us know! (2/2)

After we finished our art style, our artists found that the old wings were hard to work with and not very anatomically accurate. (1/2)

Several digital illustrations featuring winged cats with bird feet in place of their back paws. Several digital illustrations featuring winged cats with bird feet in place of their back paws. There are many different cats across the canvas with varying expressions and poses. There are notes scattered around that read:
"Lined markings."
"Marking line art is colored."
"Eyelashes are "part of the eye" (exceptions can be made for more dramatic eyelashes)."
"Eyes contain shade in flat promotional art."
"Flat eyeshine is a lighter version of the eye color."
"Eyeshine remains on closed eyes."

Ditto, by a different artist and containing different characters. The notes scattered around say:
"Semi-realistic (inspo from Nifty and Finchwing)."
"Very shapey."
"Big wings to carry their bodies."
"Not all cats have vibrissals (spots on muzzles)."
"Eye shines are not white: instead a very pale color of said character's eye color."
"Inner stripes/spots/details have soft, colored lines."
"Have tear ducts."
"Kits wings are noticeably smaller."
