Whilst teeth brushing is very important 🪥 we also need to look upstream at the causes of dental caries. Unless we can reduce the consumption of sugar, and sugary drinks 🧋in particular, we will continue to have unacceptable high levels of tooth decay among young children🦷 bit.ly/4oSO8zF

Advertising works 👏 That's why companies spend so much money on it💸 We should be particularly worried in how it influences the behaviour of young people. Excellent new report out by @CR_UK bit.ly/3HsKcol

Last week the Scottish Government published proposed regulations on HFSS promotions. Good to see multi-buy promotions and checkouts included but temporary price reductions, meals deals, and free-standing displays are all missing. Check out our detailed analysis tinyurl.com/2ms789vm

@soa-25.bsky.social welcomes Scottish Government taking steps regulating price and location-based promotions of unhealthy food promotions in-store and online, such as multi-buys and at checkouts in stores. This brings Scotland in line with England and Wales regulations.

🧵 Today is #WorldObesityDay. For too long, obesity has been framed as an individual responsibility. But the evidence is clear: we need system-wide change to create environments that support healthier choices.
