Uh-huh, surprisingly honest answer from the AI assistant. Would have been even more useful if #Slideshare had bothered to inform its users proactively about this, rather than throwing out upload error after upload error.
Why are Slideshare uploads no longer working ?

Right now, Slideshare uploads aren’t working because there’s an active, known issue on our side.

What’s happening: Slideshare presentation uploads are currently unavailable, and viewing private slide decks is also unavailable.

What’s not affected: Presentations you already uploaded are unaffected.

Status: We’re still investigating and working to restore these features (last update: October 2, 2026).

There isn’t anything you need to fix in your account or browser—this is a service-side problem. Please try uploading again later once we’ve restored uploads.

In the results, it was particularly interesting to see that in spite of overlaps and interconnections, different platforms clearly also fill different discursive niches in the overall election discussion - and that mainstream politicians post very differently from ordinary people.

This is in spite of the Meta Content Library's _serious_ limitations, and especially its policy of wiping all data from the user's workspace at the start of each month - which required us to conduct a month-long data sprint in August.
Data Sprint: Rough Timeline

Week 1 (3-7 Aug.) – gather data within MCL and from external sources:
Posts and comments on Facebook pages / Instagram profiles of candidates, parties, action groups
Submissions and comments from relevant Australian politics subreddits
YouTube video titles and descriptions from relevant Australian news and politics YouTube channels

Week 2 (10-14 Aug.) – process data to extract target practice patterns:
Named Entity Recognition (NLTK, because MCL does not support SpaCy)
TF-IDF (not word embeddings, because of limited MCL functionality)
Facebook / Instagram posts and comments processed inside, Reddit and YouTube data processed outside MCL

Week 3 (17-21 Aug.) – consolidate practice patterns for MCL and external sources:
Consolidate named entity lists and combine NER vectors for accounts across platforms
Consolidate TF-IDF vectors for accounts across platforms

Week 4 (24-28 Aug.) – combine practices, generate practice mapping network, and export visualisatio

In the paper, we attempt nothing less than proof of concept of a true cross-platform analysis of public debate during the 2025 Australian federal election, across Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, and YouTube. And while the challenges were considerable, it ... worked, we think:
Practice mapping network of cross-platform discussions of the 2025 Australian election, with clusters focussing on various themes and topics identified.

One of the football apps I follow, kicker, runs these _terrible_ low-rent ads, but every once in a while there’s one that stands out even from that dross. Thanks for the caption clarifying that the Sheep Queen doesn’t, er, ‘text’ (?), though. I guess.

Importantly, the Supplementary Materials also explore the results of various settings options in constructing practice mapping networks from the data – and reassuringly, these show overall consistency in results even when parameters are altered to highlight the key network structures.
Several practice mapping networks at different cutoff levels for cosine similarity ratings between practices, showing an overall consistency in network structure.

As an article in a methods journal, this publication covers the methodological considerations in using this approach to detect symptoms of destructive polarisation. We'll have more to say on the detailed empirical findings in later work, though our initial observations are already useful.

In this work, we demonstrate the utility of this approach by using Facebook data on the Voice to Parliament debate to create practice similarity networks that show the clusters of participant groups within this debate.
