Groovy Cat
A cozy, eclectic reading corner inside an antique bookstore, with two ornate Victorian-style upholstered chairs flanking a vintage wooden radio. Bright orange walls are covered with framed artwork, including a tribute to Prince, while bookshelves, a decorative skull, dried flowers and a patterned Persian-style rug add to the nostalgic atmosphere. Pink and purple light leaks give the photograph a vintage film aesthetic.

Why does UBC have Flock cameras @ubcpress.bsky.social?
Screenshot of an interactive map showing reported automated licence plate reader (ALPR) camera locations in Canada, including Flock Safety cameras. The map is centred on Vancouver, with a dense cluster of camera markers around Burrard Inlet and additional markers farther south. The interface shows 42 cameras in view and offers filters for Flock, police and speed cameras. Data is attributed to OpenStreetMap community reports.

English Bay Sunset
Panoramic view of Vancouver’s English Bay at dusk. An orange and purple sunset glows above the dark silhouette of the distant shoreline, dotted with city lights. Small boats sit anchored in the calm water, while scattered clouds stretch across the fading evening sky.

Anybody here have *shudder* contacts at Meta? He's running a great label: analogafrica.bandcamp.com
Screenshot of a message from Analog Africa asking for help restoring a repeatedly restricted WhatsApp account. The sender says WhatsApp is essential for communicating with musicians across Africa about licensing, royalties and running the label, and that two months of repeated blocks have continued despite contacting Meta at least 20 times.

Mysterious Vancouver
The sun burns through a bank of fog over the water, casting a shimmering path of light toward the camera. A distant shoreline and trees emerge as dark silhouettes beneath the mist, framed by a soft, grainy film-like texture.

Yeah that’s not a problem at all. Would it have been that hard to move the light onto the curb instead of have it stand at the apex of the turn? @visionzerovancouver.ca
A newly rebuilt bike path curves through a Vancouver intersection, with fresh pavement markings, planted medians and curb ramps. A large traffic-signal pole stands directly in the middle of the cycling route.

Ghost Season has arrived.
Halloween ghosts hang from a tree heavy with red berries outside a dark green house at Pacific Street. Autumn sunlight catches the white decorations and foliage, with a traffic light and street sign framing the scene.

Into the mist
A hazy marine layer drifts across Vancouver’s English Bay, partially obscuring the distant shoreline and a cargo ship. Two sailboats and a small motorboat cross the blue water in the foreground, with the motorboat leaving a long white wake.

A reminder
Two-panel political cartoon. In the first panel, a figure wearing a Conservative Party of Canada logo says, “Stop immigration and stop sending aid to Ukraine so we can take care of our own.” In the second, a person using a wheelchair asks, “help me!” and the Conservative figure responds, “fuck off.”

First time seeing this giant wind deflector in person.
Three cargo ships sit on calm water against a hazy mountain backdrop. Low sunlight catches the towering containers and superstructure of the central MSC ship, making it look like a giant golden wind deflector rising above the vessel.

Your bus in bike lane.
A large tour bus stopped in a separated bike lane, despite a roadside sign directing bicycles to keep right and cars left. A concrete divider separates the adjacent traffic lane, where a car passes the bus. Trees and parkland surround the roadway.

I see they're still after SOGI, because god behave if the kids learn about others and may become tolerant. Where would the next group of conservative voters come from? Also, who needs infrastructure and services?
Screenshot of a Sitka Media post quoting BC Conservative leader Lorne Doerkson’s positions: “SOGI: ‘Needs to be repealed.’ Abortion: ‘It’s a woman’s choice.’ Same-sex marriage: ‘I’m in favour.’” Below is a video still of Doerkson speaking at a podium marked “NO NEW TAXES,” surrounded by four people, with a BC flag hanging from a house behind them.

Two-panel Roadkill Bill cartoon by Avidor comparing child sacrifice with deaths caused by motorists. In the top panel, people justify sacrificing children by saying it prevents angry gods, failed crops and starvation. In the bottom, after a child is struck by a car, people similarly insist it’s a “car accident,” arguing that slower driving would hurt car sales, upset the economy, cost jobs and lead to starvation.

He's getting publicly strung up. It's a message to others. He no longer carries any value for them:
7-panel comic. A man shakes hands with someone holding a rainbow “Gays Against Drag Queens” sign and wearing an “LGB Without the T” shirt. The man says, “We did it! We finally outlawed all the trans people and drag queens! Thanks for your help!” The other replies, “Happy to be of service!” Behind them, people are being led away with their hands bound. He then asks, “So, who are we going after next?” The man stares back silently. He repeats, “I said who’s next?” then trails off with “Who…” as realization dawns while the man continues smiling.
