Just your typical anti-social introvert dipping their toe into this "social media" thing. Fair warning: I'm a reply guy (but hopefully not THAT kind of "Reply Guy"...

River is being done no favors in the adaptation and compression of two books into one narrative. And they're not making it particularly clear that Sidonie is off her game because she was SHOT IN THE HEAD. Books River is clearly a solid analyst who is a bit rash when taking action.

So like the War of the Worlds radio broadcast but an original story, not adapted from a book. Cool.

So is "scripted podcast" what they call "radio dramas" these days? I guess so. Understandable considering the state of radio these days...

I know it's not the best analogy, but there's a reason I avoid ads at almost all costs (even to the point of using ad blockers). I believe I'm smart enough not to be affected by ads, but being inundated by them at every turn definitely affects me, whether I think so or not...

I haven't read the Fletch books in 30 years, but the moment the Contessa pronounced his name as "Flesh" I suddenly remembered all the details (and spirit) the film was taking right from the book.

The transformation of uber laid back USC scholarship swim team member Timothy Olyphant into the go-to actor to portray Law Enforcement Officers is one of the more amusing actor-related things I've witnessed.

News to who? Not to me. Canceled my sub two days ago. My comment was more along the lines of "Make it PPV! Throw red meat to our base AND make tons of $$$ at the same time!". HBO seemed more like a PPV destination to me rather than streaming it for "free" on now sister channel Paramount+

Being an inveterate Cheap Trick fan, the Nielsen connection would be far more tempting than the 5-neck aspect. I would possibly sell my soul for "Uncle Dick".
A two neck guitar designed as a cartoon image of Rick Nielsen of the band Cheap Trick.

Don't worry little RS writer. While I've never heard of Langley or "Choosin' Texas", I also couldn't identify 99.9% of Taylor Swift songs as being from Swift. So Langley's in good (or at least popular) company?

At that point he was a weird combination of unknown up and comer but with a very familiar face/mannerisms (for TV viewers anyway). He had been the main pitchman for youth oriented ads for Subaru for several years. Sort of like a younger version of David Leisure with the Isuzu ads.

I think I like it a little more than you but it's a little too dour for my tastes. No surprise since the show runner is Chris Mundy...who also did Ozark. Hanna Christine Shetler reminded me a little of Julia Garner as well (or maybe Emily Alyn Lind from Doctor Sleep).

(dusts self off...cause I'm old) My senior year in high school I interned at Compuserve via the Professional Internship Program. I spent way too much time there playing two games on their mainframe: Zork Empire Both before they were available as ports to the new home PC market. Hooked 4 life.

The "local character" in Tucson who ran several times in the '80s was bar owner Jim Anderson. First owned Someplace Else and the The Meet Rack. He had a thing for...branding (among other things). ZZ Top used to hang at Someplace Else when they came through town.

You say "motion smoothing", I say "AI upscale to 4K". Honestly, whichever it is, I can't tell the difference between the two. Except maybe the "4k" upscale done by "AI" tends to make the people in it look like plastic.
