If I go fully evil, I could even take it further and say there's no excuse for not going through the earlier media if you're interested in something later in a series. Every Metroid game is easily emulatable, and also officially playable the same console as Ravenous. Just play the series.

Is this not more about getting into the series with a later game? AFAIK 2D Metroid isn't a hugely story-based series, so it looks a bit silly here, but imagine something like starting with Kingdom Hearts 3. You'd be missing previous context and story, and it wouldn't be anywhere near as good.

Obviously he's a character, not a real person, so it's not a huge deal to use she/her for Jax, you aren't actually hurting anyone, but you should understand this stuff, and not be the type of person to analyse and guess that a real person is trans, and try to force them out by changing pronouns. 5/6

Preemptively using she/her for Jax, when he hasn't come out, is extremely similar to egg culture. Plus, technically we don't even know which pronouns he'd use, he's obviously transfem but it's not ridiculous to say he could use they/them or neopronouns or whatever, even as a stepping stone. 4/6

That part of the show's message feels like a clear response to 'egg' culture, such as r/egg_irl, which is a toxic part of the trans community, as people shouldn't be force outed, especially when they have barely even started accepting themselves at all. It makes them uncomfortable. 3/6

This is literally the correct thing to do. Jax felt too uncomfortable when being forced 'outed' by Ribbit when she understood him too well and could understand that he was trans, and that's why he suppressed it so hard and became who we see on the show. 2/6

Depending on what sort of vibe you want, I'd recommend OOO, Geats, or Kuuga. OOO is what I started with, and was my favourite for a good while, Geats is a great modern series, Kuuga is an older one which you'll love it you love the vibe of older shows.

Also personally I'd recommend starting with episode 2, as the first episode was the only episode not written by the creators, and there's stuff later that makes episode 2 a better start IMO. It also means you'll have an episode to watch after you finish the show, because you WILL be wishing for more

Watched it with a couple friends early this year, and it became our favourite show. We've done 2 full rewatches just to get other friends to watch the show. If you're even a little bit interested, you should 100% watch it.
