Best night in my recent memory: we had our neighbor over for dinner and he admired the rock I’d brought my partner as a gift from a recent trip. We were like, yeah we love rocks, and he RAN back down the hall to get some of HIS rocks to show us. Dinner was an hour late, we had rocks to admire

Sadly, no. The more anti-vaxxers there are, the more people there are who can put immune-compromised people and infants at risk of succumbing to vaccine-preventable diseases. That’s why vaccine denialism is NOT a “my body, my choice” issue—it’s a public health crisis.

Apropos of Regency-era laundry, allow me to recommend the truly excellent novel LONGBOURN by Jo Baker, which tells Pride & Prejudice from the POV of the woman who had to clean all those petticoats that were six inches deep in mud. It’s SUCH a good read!

Mine was at Dodger Stadium. I was one in a convoy of thousands of cars meandering in orderly fashion through acres of emptied-out parking lot, guided at every turn by a cheerful volunteer. The ambient elation surpassed a World Series win.

I’m sorry for your loss. I remember making my mom some chicken salad a couple of days after my dad died and feeling so happy when she fetched herself seconds. Her hunger seemed to surprise her but it was the first thing that made me feel like she was going to be OK.

Adults of any age should have this talk with one another too. I recently learned my ex-husband (55M) was dating an undergrad (22?F) and had stopped talking to his former best friend because the friend told him dating a teenager wasn’t cool. Men of all ages need to be held accountable.
