I’ve been pondering something similar to this, and I think any liberal or progressive Christian probably has too, at some point. The Right wants to drive us out, and claim the entirety of the Christian mantle. It’s not a static affair.
So the bad acting of conservative Christianity can have a net effect on us that is different
from the effect it has on them. Someone sees Christianity behaving in a way they find cruel or politically intolerable and decides Christianity itself is the problem. They don't necessarily know there is a little Lutheran church in Fayetteville doing something very different.
If conservative Christianity were simply another movement over there, live and let live would make considerable sense. But if one side has developed substantial theological and institutional resources aimed at showing that
the other is not legitimate Christianity, then simply being available as another option may not even be enough.

one reason why Paul Newman was a unicorn is, while he _looked_ incredible, he was actually a Humor Goblin in disguise
Newman met actress Joanne Woodward in 1953, [1041 on the production of Picnic on Broadway. 105] It was Newman's debut; Woodward was an understudy. 106] Shortly after filming The Long, Hot Summer in 1957, he divorced Witte to marry Woodward. The Newmans moved to East 11th Street in Manhattan, 1071 before buying a home and raising their family in Westport, Connecticut. They were one of the first Hollywood movie star couples to choose to raise their families outside California.
[108] They remained married for 50 years until his death in 2008. 109] Woodward has said "He's very good looking and very sexy and all of those things, but all of that goes out the window and what is finally left is, if you can make somebody laugh...
And he sure does keep me laughing." Newman has attributed their relationship success to "some combination of lust and respect and patience. And determination."

king!
From January 1959 until his death in 1982, Feldman was married to Lauretta Sullivan. She died in 2010, at the age of 74, in Studio City, Los Angeles. 15] Feldman's peers have reported, in a number of biographies, that he was highly attractive to women in spite of his unconventional facial appearance. 16!
He spent time in jazz clubs, as he found a parallel between 'riffing' in a comedy partnership and the improvisation of jazz. 81 [17]
Politically, Feldman was described as an "avowed socialist", 8) telling one interviewer, "I'm a socialist by conviction, if not by lifestyle", 191 and another,
"I'm a socialist from way back, but in order to pay my back taxes I have to live in America to earn enough money to pay the back tax I owe to the socialist government that I voted in."[8] He later joked that when a Labour cabinet minister said to him, "Of course you vote Labour", Feldman replied,
"No, I don't, because I'm a socialist!"

and yes, of course he grew up evangelical, smh
Only after the interview had finished did I realize that Mr. Olah — who grew up in Toronto in the evangelical culture of the '90s and has since left Christianity — had the blend of expertise and zeal of an effective evangelist. Listen for a while, and you feel swept up in his mission.

Not trying to dunk on the author, but “But Mr. Olah knew enough about Christ and about Claude to believe he could work across that chasm.” is one of the more cursed/annoying lines I’ve ever read.
An Introduction
Mr. Olah knew that in traditional Christian circles, even asking questions about A.I. consciousness or worrying about how people treat the models could seem not just silly but heretical. He also knew that his secular Silicon Valley peers often dismissed religious perspectives outright.
"I was nervous about this being an issue that could cause a lot of conflict," he said. But Mr.
Olah knew enough about Christ and about Claude to believe he could work across that chasm.

I am pro-Harris, lol. I voted for her and thought she ran as well as she could. She herself seem to thinks she got questionable advice.
"She is looking for where the wave is going and is determined to ride it," said one supporter who had recently spoken with her and came away convinced that Harris is running in 2028. "Her mindset is that I should have won, and I am going to do it my way because my way would have won, and it was all these consultants that were telling me to take this position or that position, and it was their fault."

It doesn’t seem murky
Three weeks into her presidential run was the first time the Biden campaign's pollsters — now hers
— held a deep-dive call with Kamala Harris' inner circle to discuss what she's
been saying on the stump.
Over the line came a lot of praise, but also some suggested tweaks. First, said veteran Democratic numbers man Geoff
Garin, summarizing their analysis, stop saying, "We're not going back." It wasn't focused enough on the future, he argued. Second, lay off all the "weird" talk — too negative.

Fun book (no, YOU shut up). Love to read about money mechanics in the gold standard days. In 1908, federal officials spent four months transferring 100s of millions in gold from San Francisco to the Denver Mint— $5m at a time, unannounced, on ordinary trains, hidden in horse-cars.

the “statistics are the most important thing in the universe” tendency in tech is probably the part of our age that Søren would most vigorously reject.
The exact opposite of the truth is "the probable." Truth does not consist of an approximation. That which lies nearest to the truth is not, if you please, closest to the truth - no, this is the most dangerous delusion of all, the most dangerous simply because it lies so near to the truth without being the truth.

Let us be honest about it. We are more afraid of the truth than of death.

This isn’t coddling MAHA cranks, this is an evidence-driven pro-vaccine person who believes he can win someone over. This is politics.
Asked about the vaccine dynamic, El-Sayed said he believes he can win over MAHA voters despite differing views on the issue.
"I will always be evidence-driven when it comes to vaccines," El-Sayed said. "But the key thing is that you want to know that what you're feeding your kids and what you're putting in the body is pure. And
RFK Jr. and Donald Trump and Mike Rogers have failed that test in droves."

don’t get headline sniped, these are standard plans from a liberal/progressive policy standpoint.
The platform, dubbed the Building A Healthier America Policy Agenda, takes aim at pesticides in food, backing legislation that would give people the right to sue pesticide manufacturers over harm caused by the products. It seeks accountability for polluters, with a pledge to get industry lobbyists out of regulatory agencies. And it aims to get substances such as lead and microplastics out of water, in part by strengthening federal drinking water rules. It also proposes investments in school meal programs and grocery stores on wheels.

I appreciate the article, and the frameworks of rewards is v useful. I even appreciate this clarifier! However, I’d politely and firmly dissent from the idea that organisms’ behavior can be so reduced. It’s not a shorthand to say a plant seeks sunlight!
One note on wording. Below, I write that these systems "seek" or "try" things. This is shorthand for a mechanism rather than a
claim about consciousness or human-like intent. [highlighted by me] We use similar shorthand when describing many other situations, like a plant seeking sunlight. A system trained by trial and error behaves as it it were pursuing whatever its training rewarded, and that as-if description is what makes its behavior predictable. [end of highlight] Nothing in the argument depends on these systems having subjective experiences; everything is stated about their observable outputs
and the training process that produced them. Where I appeal to a resemblance with human behavior, I mean a resemblance to the human-written text
these systems were initially trained to imitate. In my view, this terminology offers the clearest explanation of the observed phenomena without resorting to jargon that would confuse most people.

as both an amateur Colorado historian and amateur food historian, I’m kinda losing it at this claim. not that it’s wrong, after digging around a little bit, it’s quite plausible.
Picture of a three story wooden building, and the caption “Soon after the trains appeared in Salida, the Monte Cristo was built in 1883 at a cost of $38,000. Known for fine dining, it ~~created the Monte Cristo sandwich~~ that combined turkey, ham, and Swiss cheese, was dipped in batter, deep-fried, and served with currant jelly. The unusual concoction was copied in restaurants around the country and can still be found on First Street. (Salida Museum Association).

i might be getting the specifics a little wrong, but I believe he acquired the company after a little uhh inner searching after his rough later 00s and early 10s in the financial world. The founders are a possibly more bonker combo.
LesserEvil was founded in 2004 by Michael A.
Sands, 2 Gene Hackman, and Jim Cramer in Tuckahoe, New York. [3]
Their initial product offering was a kettlecorn 3 and expanded into multiple varieties. 41 In 2006, they introduced a second line, Krinkle Sticks, 5l and later lines of extruded curls and puffs intended to compete in the cheese puff category. 6] [7] [8] [1]
In 2011, Charles Coristine, a former bond trader, 9] acquired LesserEvil!!! and opened its Danbury factory the following year. 101 By 2013, the company's headquarters remained in Wilton, Connecticut, but operations moved to Commerce Park in Danbury.!"] The factory is certified organic.
