I was compelled to play Silent Hill F by the sandevistan meme gif. I don’t actively seek out horror, but when I do it’s for half artistic half frivolous reasons lmao

I'm trying to delete some apps to make space on my phone. what the heck is 'Samsung KMS Agent'? or 'Samsung Milk Music' for that matter

Screenshot of apps that can be deleted from my phone. The ones shown are Samsung KMS Agent, Samsung Knox mPOS Enabler, Samsung Milk Music, and Samsung Music

okay I am taking a look at MGS Delta's new control scheme. it's kind of a shakeup. the triggers, bumpers, and D-Pad make sense. but the face button layout is actually the MGSV layout but everything is shifted in a weird bowtie pattern. here look

Metal Gear Solid V control scheme compared with Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater control scheme. crouch has replaced reload, reload has replaced dive, dive has replaced climb, and climb has replaced crouch.

7. Aerith Gainsborough (Final Fantasy VII Remake) yeah specifically remake. what can I say, they did a bang up job portraying her as someone you could fall head over heels for. maybe literally, in Cloud's case

Aerith from Final Fantasy VII Remake. She holds a steel chair over her head, ready to bring it down on some poor soul behind the camera

6. Tifa Lockhart (Final Fantasy VII) tbh I liked the og crop top look a bit more than Remake's sports bra. the new look is quite sporty and character appropriate, I'm just not as in crush with it. it's irrelevant either way since I fell out of crush once I played either game. she worries, I worry

4. Strangelove (Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker) you don't even see her character model most of the time. the graphic novel style cutscenes and audio logs are more than enough though

3. Wendy Corduroy (Gravity Falls) If I was a dog, I bet I'd hone in on name brand dog food. you could refill the bag with cheap alternatives and I'd still hone in probably

2. Naoto Shirogane (Persona 4) I feel like this might also be a basic pick? I actually don't remember. I'm not gonna look that up lmao

I went to Tokyo DisneySea, but access to the Fantasy Springs area was strangely limited. I get back to the hotel and turn the TV on. they're running a special where some boy group and an older guy are doing a spendathon contest at Fantasy Springs. turns out the old guy is the Judgment actor dude

Lupin III: The First It's that gorgeous, realistic yet stylized CGI + ideal lighting that you might find in a short animation. You watch the short and think "damn, they should do a full movie like that", but you dare not hope for something that perfect. and yet here it is. as beautiful as imagined

Lupin the Third doing his iconic escape run alongside a wall. A spotlight shines upon him. He glances at the source of the light and smirks.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves Perhaps the first ever game adaptation film to do its job (or is it Clue? never played Clue). it paints the casual, off-the-rails campaign vibe without needing to frame it explicitly. really invites the viewer to imagine a DM wrangle and negotiate w/ players

Chris Pine's bard character, Edgin, looks at a resurrected corpse. The corpse is sitting up, looking back at him inquiringly.

The Batman Bruce drifts thru his Dracula home. Batman steps thru crime scenes, scorned by police and criminals alike. He listens to Nirvana and keeps a journal. The camera blurs and broods over his city patrols. He's also a dumbass who gets his shit rocked quite often. That's the human experience.

Lieutenant Gordon and The Batman are mid-conversation, both now staring at someone offscreen.

The Cat Returns As a kid, I'd often stumble into boring, quiet afternoons at home. I'd try all sorts of movies, usually the latest haul from Blockbuster. At the time, this movie was just kinda nice and fun, but its breezy whimsy grew on me over the years. I think about the credits song still.

Haru, a normal-sized high schooler, crouches down to talk with the Baron, a small anthropomorphic gentleman cat. The Baron's furniture and tea set is comically small next to Haru.

Inception this one best epitomizes the weird sci-fi epic that Nolan keeps chasing. the dream world's mechanics help to canonize many of his hallmarks. for example, Dunkirk uses disproportionate time scales just to help with pacing. when Inception does it, that's almost literally how things are

A screenshot from Inception. Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character walks between the wall and ceiling of a rotating hallway. An enemy facing him stumbles to the ceiling.

Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse they introduced a new kid as Spidey and made him iconic. they made Peter a funny has-been without veering into parody. they made Spider-Gwen a household name while they were at it. any one of these ambitions could have flopped on arrival yet they make it look easy

It's not news per se, but here's Heart to Hearth! A cooking visual novel demo I worked on a while back before my current job! I did some dialog and recipe flavor text for it (believe me, I bumbled into the pun by chance). no-thoughts-gaming.itch.io/heart-to-hearth

4.) Phoenix Wright He'll throw old ladies under the bus if it means extending a trial. He'll conceal evidence if it isn't convenient. And he'll define his career just to chase down Edgeworth and see what's wrong. His everyman, player proxy vibe belies a borderline amoral romantic.

020

Dave @snowcipher.bsky.social · 20/10/2024

3.) (The Red/Dark) Dementus This stupid asshole. he's so good at warmongering (except the one time with the Citadel and the cranes, but that was unprecedented). he's so bad at managing and government. he's the perfect wasteland menace. and even if he's a weasel, he's pretty true to his nihilism.

110

Dave @snowcipher.bsky.social · 20/10/2024

2.) Haruhi Fujioka On paper, you'd think her real fish-out-of-water hangup would be the cross dressing. but no! she takes that in stride! it's the new popularity and wealth disparity that throws her off. if anything, it's the entire host club that needs to get on her level. I love her to bits

130

Dave @snowcipher.bsky.social · 20/10/2024

1.) Jotaro Kujo He generously lets Avdol and Polnareff in on his big one-liner moment against the sea captain. We learn he's not above showing off party tricks when his imposter is put on the spot. We learn there are limits to even his stoicism when the card table falls over. a real mysterious kid.

3.) More JumpStart games than I'd care to admit. let's go with 2nd grade I have so many mature, dignified gamer takes. not this one! I prob learned a lotta valuable school stuff back then, but mostly I remember point and clicking thru the adventurous after-hour school. exploration was real to me

000

Dave @snowcipher.bsky.social · 19/10/2024

2.) 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim So incredibly tempting to say something critical about this. but I'm a dude of my word Could scarcely imagine a game having vibes so immaculate. the narrative structure puzzle for each character? the RTS urgency and focus? the god-tier music and voice acting? come on.

100

Dave @snowcipher.bsky.social · 19/10/2024

1.) Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker I hate banging the same drum, but most didn't or can't play it! Beautiful 2010 summer. I'd lay on the ground playing solo. or I'd use the PS3 as proxy and play co-op with other PSP players online. or I'd just listen to audio logs. freedom in pace, reach, and story
