AI is basically that for the whole economy and the workings of government. It's a bleed-out of current conditions. Not all of these companies are going to make it, but the billionaires are counting on a situation in which existing social relations can no longer be reproduced. A re-ordering.

how does it compare to holy mountain? I loved a lot about that movie! … was a bit thrown by the possibly unsimulated animal cruelty (that happens a lot when I’m walking on the edges of classic/cult/world cinema unfortunately), but I can definitely roll with it if they use practical effects.

I’m trying desperately to catch up before this releases. Have somehow managed to avoid spoilers so far (although I did play the original PSX game back in the day). I’m trying to go in fresh on how Rebirth approaches things. Even if they treat the story exactly the same, I want THAT to be a surprise.

it’s definitely a lot to take in. i’ve seen two different versions of the movie that had far different impacts on me. the recent criterion 4K remaster has a strange upscaling that flattens the emotion in the actors’ eyes (imo) from the original release on DVD. I own both and prefer the standard def.

I saw it close to release and didn’t care for it at all. couldn’t understand why Lynch was abandoning film. at the time it felt like the aesthetic equivalent of using AI (I can see in retrospect this was silly and not at all an ethical parallel). I revisited this movie more recently and 💙 it now

I won’t say what movie because I don’t wanna make anyone feel bad, but the movie looked awful. I was in a group with a bunch of doofuses though and they all loved it. I got singled out. The moderator said, “We didn’t see you laughing like the rest of the group. Did you not enjoy the trailer?”

They were a lot of fun! I think Terry Bogard was during my first days there. I was always been extra fond of SNK (until a certain switch in ownership), so I was delighted to have that as an early assignment.
