People are right to be incensed, but there are more names to uplift. ICE killed an immigrant man named Silverio Villegas González in Chicagoland. He had children. Victor Manuel Diaz was kidnapped in Minneapolis and died in ICE custody on January 14. Their names deserve to be repeated, too.

It is not enough to abolish ICE. We need to abolish the police and cages and build other institutions and relationships that can bring us genuine safety. Abolition is less an act of demolition than a construction project. It is creative creation, the boundless, boundary-less struggle to make our collective lives better, what Ruth Wilson Gilmore calls “life in rehearsal.”

Melioidosis is a big thing that is talked about every wet season in the NT, because of how dangerous it is. Given how drastically weather events etc are shifting, don’t assume this is just a north/tropical thing. Be very careful if wading through waters, esp with any open cuts or blisters.

Aside from this being such a cop-out response - given they’ve received nearly 1000 complaints about these charities, what have they done to push the gov for taking action? Gov has just demonstrated how quickly they can take action when it suits their purpose
The ACNC said it cannot enforce international law unless it has been incorporated into Australian domestic legislation. While the United Nations considers Israeli settlements in occupied territory to be illegal under international law, the regulator said this position “has not, at this stage, been incorporated into domestic Australian law”.

Quite a quote from Texans LB Azeez Al-Shaair, who was asked about his STOP THE GENOCIDE eye black after today’s game www.usatoday.com/story/sports...
"At the end of the day, it's bigger than me. The things that are going through makes people uncomfortable, imagine how (Palestinians) feel?" he said. "That's the biggest thing. I have no affiliation, no connection, to these people - other than the fact that I am a human being. If you have a heart and you're a human being, and you see what's going on in this world, you check yourself real quick.
"I'm sitting here crying about football when there's people dying every single day."
