Migration to eurosky.social failed · Issue #2701 · snarfed/bridgy-fed
I’m trying to migrate a Bridgy Fed account to eurosky.social. The migration flow at fed.brid.gy accepts eurosky.social as the target PDS, but then asks for a phone number. After entering my phone n...

and re wetdry.world/@xan.lol@bsk... , not sure, could be the fediverse's inherent weak consistency. we're not currently including that pinned post in your AP actor: browser.pub/@xan.lol@bsk... if you have a wetdry.world account and search for @xan.lol@bsky.brid.gy, that might trigger it to reload?

on a related note, your "interesting" commits last night on did:plc:ztl7dgdqnhhg7ubeoq24i6sq were fun to watch. you managed to get the relay to emit invalid CAR!

Hah yes, BF has supported web sites since the very beginning. It was born in 2017 as a bridge between the web and the fediverse. Bluesky was only added in 2023! fed.brid.gy/docs#web-get...

Nah should be fine! Using both at the same time shouldn't break anything.

Yeah having two separate but overlapping services is confusing, sorry. fed.brid.gy/docs#bridgy-... Bridgy Classic might do what you want! Fwiw it only bridges web sites to native accounts, not to bridged clone accounts. And Bridgy Fed sends webmentions to/from its bridged web sites too!

Analysis: Clean energy just put China’s CO2 emissions into reverse for first time - Carbon Brief
For the first time, the growth in China’s clean power generation has caused the nation’s carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions to fall despite rapid power demand growth.

hmm! bugs do happen, and ecosystem issues like fed.brid.gy/docs#bluesky... , but we've been bridging images since the beginning, in all directions. pls let us know of any specific examples you see that didn't work, we definitely want to fix them!

yup. it is a bit awkward. I think we plan to merge them into a single "login with your atmosphere account" button, or similar. cc @quillmatiq.com

touche! I don't know that I've eaten canned (or otherwise boiled) tomatoes themselves plain before. I doubt I'd love them. using them as an ingredient in red sauce turns out better though!
010
Ryan @snarfed.org · 01/09/2026
the water *becomes sauce*. you don't take the tomatoes back out of the water later agreed though, it's confusing
100
Ryan @snarfed.org · 01/09/2026
and no pasta sauce is not boiled. the key characteristic of boiling is that you take food, put it in boiling water, then remove it from the water and eat it critically, thankfully, this does not describe sauces

pretzels are a strange exception they're boiled! but they're...tolerable to eat? sometimes even good? what sorcery, what accursed monster, what spooky action at a distance have our modern pretzel chefs raised from the murky depths? we may never know

ooh good point! counter-counter-point: they're still bagels

sous vide is dangerously close to boiling, so it's suspicious, but still acceptable. for now
030
Ryan @snarfed.org · 01/09/2026
boiling is the worst way to cook food this includes bagels, shellfish, even hot pot pasta is only good because you immediately put tasty non-boiled stuff on it before you eat it I will not be taking questions at this time

“The Speed of the Earth” has returned to Black Rock City. Originally created in 02024, this art piece by Long Now Board members @kevinkelly.bsky.social and David Rumsey uses a mile-long line of solar-powered LED strobes to create a streak of light that moves at the speed of the Earth's rotation.

You have to re-follow to re-enable it. Then, yes.
000
Ryan @snarfed.org · 24/08/2026
You can disable and re-enable again, but it's semi-destructive on some networks. Eg if you're bridged into the fediverse and you disable, all of your followers get removed. (Inherent in how that network works.) fed.brid.gy/docs#opt-out

Nah, neither Bridgy Fed (@ap.brid.gy) nor Bridgy classic (brid.gy) bridge native fediverse accounts to native Bluesky accounts. We usually suggest cross-posting clients for that. Different from bridging though, of course! blog.anew.social/bridging-vs-...

hmm, I don't think BF does anything with h-feed. it doesn't look at mf2 at all in RSS/Atom, and when parsing HTML, it only looks for h-card on your homepage and h-entry in individual pages when you trigger it via webmention

As for its net impact on emissions, interesting point! I'd never considered it, but evidently all military activity is ~5% of global emissions. Transportation is ~20-25%. Probably difficult at best to determine how much a given conflict contributes to each one, esp indirectly via oil prices.
000
Ryan @snarfed.org · 19/08/2026
War was only tangential here, but it's obviously horrible, not a tool we'd ever deliberately choose in order to (attempt to) improve the climate.
100
Ryan @snarfed.org · 18/08/2026
Ideally gas and oil prices should increase due to price on carbon regulations, not just macro events like wars or inflation, but I'll take what I can get.
120
Ryan @snarfed.org · 18/08/2026
High gas (and oil) prices may be hard on working class people, and on supply chains, but they're good for progress on the climate crisis. I'm optimistic that cheap EVs from BYD, Slate, etc. will help both sides of this tradeoff.

Ryan @snarfed.org · 18/08/2026
It's an interesting idea! 404s can happen temporarily due to misconfigurations, bugs, etc, so I'd be a bit uncomfortable deleting based on them, but maybe a manual only trigger might be ok. Free free to file a feature request on GitHub!

Ryan @snarfed.org · 17/08/2026
We're not currently set up to easily manually delete individual posts like this right now, sorry. I can put it on my list though. Maybe check with your Friendica admin to see why they didn't send a Delete activity?

Done! Btw, orderly shutdown (ie sending out bulk Delete activities) for fediverse instances helps a lot in these situations, at least outsourcedmath's, feel free to tell your admins!
