If you have never watched the movie “Cocktail” give it a watch. Like “Say Anything” (and “Valley Girl” and, I’m told, “About Last Night” and so many others from that era), it held up a vision of courting that sent men of that era down a real fucking dumb path.

People will always reach for media that suits their political leanings - God knows I do - and those will inevitably bend coverage and framing toward those biases, but I don’t know how one consumes “news” that actually *requires* a layer of conspiracy to make it conform to observed reality.
