Even their own ridiculous AI bot understands why a copper-nickel mine doesn’t belong near the Boundary Waters

New Richland endured nine inches of rain from just one storm, flooding the town and forcing residents to evacuate. The anxiety from residents is palpable. It’s going to take an all-hands-on-deck effort to recover, clean up the damage and get the community back on its feet.

Visiting with farmers in Lamberton today and their message was clear. Producers need stability and consistency so they can plan for the next season, not more chaotic trade wars and price hikes due to the war in Iran.

Lots of ways to finally help young people afford their first home. 7% mortgage rates (and climbing) thanks to another endless war in the Middle East is not one of them.

It’s not just a question of how long farmers can hunker down and endure high diesel prices. It’s a question of how many farms will go under because it’s just too much.

If it looks like a cage and acts as a cage… it’s a cage. Calling these “calming areas” at Alligator Alcatraz is some dystopian doublespeak.

Apple Tree Dental in Hawley, Minnesota has provided more than 353,000 dental visits to more than 35,000 patients across the Northland. They’ve often been the only provider in the area willing to see patients on Medicaid.

The Blatnik Bridge between Duluth and Superior has reached the end of its useful life after serving us for 65 years. By 2030, it will have been deemed unsafe and decommissioned. But the bridge is the linchpin that connects the bustling, proud cities that make up the Twin Ports.

Tomorrow is the grand opening of the Minnesota State Fair, and it also marks 365 days since the lives of Annunciation School families were irrevocably broken by gun violence. I think about the Annunciation School community all the time.

Small towns and rural communities are seeing a troubling trend of labor and delivery services being cut at rural hospitals. It means when expecting mothers go into labor, they have to drive farther to get the care they need, which can be dangerous for both baby and mom.

The average age of America’s farmer is nearing 60 years old, yet our young farmers tasked with taking over are being boxed out from starting their own operations. How can they be expected to compete with corporate investors buying land?

So great to be in Little Falls, an amazing community in central Minnesota that’s using federal programs to help their small businesses update historic buildings to meet their needs while protecting the history of the town.   Thank you for taking the time to show me around!

A lot of people are surprised to hear that Minnesota produces the fifth most honey in the country. Mann Lake LTD employs about 140 people in Hackensack and is a key supplier for professional honey producers and backyard beekeeping enthusiasts.

First Liam Conejo Ramos. Now Liam Tadeo.   How many five-year-old boys need to be taken by ICE before Republicans will admit to the cruelty of this mass deportation campaign? Where is our humanity? How can we justify putting a five-year-old through this?

In cities, towns and rural communities alike, I hear the same thing:  the dire need for affordable childcare. Parents can’t start jobs because there’s no one to watch the kids. Businesses can’t expand because there’s no one to fill the jobs.

Farmers and ranchers need options. They need choices. They need more than just whatever the four big corporations that control meat processing in this country offer. That’s why the new Farmers Union Processing and Meats facility in Staples matters.

Cuyuna Regional Medical Center (CRMC) is a 25-bed hospital in Crosby with clinics across north-central Minnesota. Patients can access primary and specialty care without having to trek to a big city, and it’s a perfect example of the kind of facility that Minnesotans rely on to stay healthy.

I was able to tour a home being built by Lakes Area Habitat for Humanity in Brainerd as part of a conversation on the housing crisis. Organizations like Lakes Area Habitat are helping solve the housing crisis by building more homes, but tackling skyrocketing insurance costs is the next step.

Minnesotans strongly support protecting the Boundary Waters. We are a mining state, but not this mine in this place. The Trump Administration and Republicans in Congress ignored the science and overturned protections for the Boundary Waters, but the fight continues here at home.

The entirety of the Boundary Waters is being evacuated due to wildfires, led by eight fearless Wilderness Rangers paddling around to campsites.   1,000,000 acres. 2,000 campsites. 4 teams of rangers. 2 rangers per canoe.

ICE agents feel emboldened because they know their higher ups will protect them by lying to the public about what happened. How can we trust any sort of investigation solely done by an agency that does whatever it wants, whenever it wants, with no repercussions? Justice for Lorenzo Salgado Araujo

Karen was the longest serving openly lesbian legislator in the United States. Her time in the Minnesota House spanned nearly forty years from 1980-2019. She played an instrumental role in Minnesota’s transformational law to legalize gay marriage.

In your opinion, what has been the overall impact of the war so far on American interests, at home and abroad? By party identification

(An overwhelming majority of independents and Democrats hold negative views of the war. 1/3 of Republicans have similar views.)

The system regulates the school temperature by harnessing the earth’s natural heat as energy to keep the building warm in the winter + cool in the summer. It’s a cheaper way to heat/cool the school, doesn’t tie them to the ups and downs of a global oil/gas market and is clean, American-made energy.

Do not lose hope.
Do not lose hope.
This fight is not over.
We should all be so proud of the coalition we built to fight this. Tribal Nations. Outdoorsmen. Conservationists. Public lands advocates.
But most importantly, Minnesotans who deeply appreciate what these waters mean to us and our shared obligation to safeguard them for our kids, our grandkids, and every generation thereafter. One day, the shoe will be on the other foot, and they will regret what they did to the Boundary Waters today — because this was a mistake. They've set a new precedent that no public lands are ever truly sate, including those in Montana. Utah. The Dakotas. Idaho.
Republicans privately told me they knew this is wrong, and I wish they had voted their conscience.
Tonight, we take a much-needed rest.
Tomorrow, we figure out what comes next.

Since they’re abusing the Congressional Review Act to get around the filibuster, I am reserving some of my time so I can make closing remarks in the morning before the final vote. Maybe they’ll listen to reason after a night’s sleep. Stay tuned. Save the Boundary Waters.

The Boundary Waters don’t just belong to Minnesotans. They’re the birthright of every single American. Why would we let a foreign mining company ruin them just so they can mine OUR resources, ship them off to China and enrich their shareholders?
Map showing the pollution a proposed copper-nickel mine would have on the Boundary Waters, Voyageurs National Park and Quetico Provincial Park.
