Noah @smellycandle42.bsky.social · 06/10/2026I've realized this is more or less the relationship between Tasha and Baxter and that's exactly why I love them so much 000

Noah @smellycandle42.bsky.social · 03/10/2026No idea what people are seeing in this blog that makes it so vital to them. Seems to me like a whole lot of words that say almost nothing. 0270
Noah @smellycandle42.bsky.social · 03/10/2026I know a lot of people were shocked to hear that Sega considered abandoning Sonic, but it's not as unprecedented as it sounds. Easy to forget but Street Fighter was pretty well a dormant series through the 2000s up until Street Fighter IV was released in 2008. If Capcom could do it, why not Sega? 100
Noah @smellycandle42.bsky.social · 03/10/2026If I have one bone to pick with Ace Combat 8, it's that some of the missions are just too long. They can feel like they should have been over two objectives ago. Bear in mind this game has a whopping 30 missions. Ace Combat 7 only had 20! 100
Noah @smellycandle42.bsky.social · 01/10/2026"Botched execution" is a terrifying phrase to think about but I'm still hung up on the idea of executing someone for something they were convicted of roughly 30 years ago. 200
Noah @smellycandle42.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Dubious methodology here. Jethro Tull are from Lancashire, not Bedfordshire. Almost feels like counting the Beatles as being from Hamburg. 000
Noah @smellycandle42.bsky.social · 01/10/2026I haven't seen KPop Demon Hunters but I've seen the Monopoly ad so many time it feels like I have 000
Noah @smellycandle42.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Trying to quote Eminem and came up with "shove a gerbil's ass through my tube" 000

Noah @smellycandle42.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Asinine article. Apparently the 27% of kids aged 1-2 are too few to care about, but the 24% of stay-at-home moms are "the electorate". 010

Noah @smellycandle42.bsky.social · 28/09/2026Most discussion of Resident Evil 3 Nemesis vs Resident Evil 3 Remake is severely hampered by being framed incorrectly. People ask "which one is the better way to experience Resident Evil 3?" Not a serious question, frankly. 100
Noah @smellycandle42.bsky.social · 28/09/2026I can never remember what the new Fire Emblem is called. Every time, the best I can come up with is Fire Emblem: Fates Warning, which is definitely not correct 000

Well, I'm more interested in the longest song to chart on the Billboard 100 (I Swear, I Really Wanted to Make a 'Rap' Album but This Is Literally the Way the Wind Blew Me This Time by Andre 3000) 000

Noah @smellycandle42.bsky.social · 19/09/2026Gamers concocted a narrative that Neil Druckmann stole The Last of Us from Bruce Straley to create an easy scapegoat, except they got confused and now Bruce Straley is their scapegoat. Can't make this stuff up. 001
Noah @smellycandle42.bsky.social · 18/09/2026That's cool. I'm also staying as far away from it as possible 020
Noah @smellycandle42.bsky.social · 18/09/2026"Why do gamers think a 7/10 review is negative?" I don't know, but it could be related to how people were saying Insomniac is dead because their newest game has a 77 on Metacritic just last week. 000
Noah @smellycandle42.bsky.social · 18/09/2026James Ellroy is a fascinating figure because he's basically an internet troll who was born long before the internet so he became a novelist instead. Imagine how many potential James Ellroys we've lost to 4chan and Twitter. 000

Noah @smellycandle42.bsky.social · 13/09/2026The way people react to some action games is a great demonstration of how much presentation matters. "I hate how every action game now has experience points and skill trees. I miss old-school action games like Devil May Cry." Buddy, what do you think the Red Orbs were? 110
Noah @smellycandle42.bsky.social · 12/09/2026I really don't get the point of announcing a game several years in advance with a cinematic trailer. If you don't have anything to show, just do a press release. Or, perhaps, don't say anything until you have something to show for it and some certainty that it will actually be released. 100
Noah @smellycandle42.bsky.social · 11/09/2026My 9/11 story isn't really much of a 9/11 story. I was too young to have any first-hand experience of it. But I did have a book about world facts, and one was that the then-tallest building in the world was the Petronas Towers, also called the Petronas Twin Towers. 100
Noah @smellycandle42.bsky.social · 10/09/2026Kind of fascinated by the tendency of some people to refer to Metroid Ravenous as "Metroid 6" despite that not being its title. It's not even like there was some question about its title. It was announced with a title. Not an "Untitled Breath of the Wild sequel" situation here. 100
Noah @smellycandle42.bsky.social · 10/09/2026Pulling out from publishing Physint is the dumbest thing I've seen from Sony in years. Every other bad decision they've made recently at least had some apparent rationale behind it, even if it was callous and shortsighted. But this is unbelievable. 100
Noah @smellycandle42.bsky.social · 09/09/2026Their guest characters didn't work, the next few guest characters also didn't work, but surely these guest characters will finally make the game popular! 000

Noah @smellycandle42.bsky.social · 09/09/2026I guess I'm just naive to the ways of modern AAA game development but I really didn't think games that are as far as a year away would have complete or mostly complete achievement lists. 220
Noah @smellycandle42.bsky.social · 09/09/2026The fact that so much of the backlash to the Ocarina of Time remake is people saying it looks "too realistic" is some of the strongest evidence that there's a crisis of visual literacy in video games. 110
Noah @smellycandle42.bsky.social · 08/09/2026I, personally, am not so keen on a hypothetical Canadian application to the European Union because I do not look forward to the debate about Canada's European character or lack thereof 100
Noah @smellycandle42.bsky.social · 08/09/2026I've had my fun, but at the end of the day, I think I would still take the Ocarina of Time remake style over the Link's Awakening remake style 000
Noah @smellycandle42.bsky.social · 08/09/2026In true Nintendo fashion, they haven't said who is developing the Ocarina of Time remake, right? 100
Noah @smellycandle42.bsky.social · 08/09/2026Buried lead about Ocarina of Time remake is that, nine years after Breath of the Wild, they refuse to back down from putting Link's inventory in a horizontal line 100
