You have to love the California primary setup that got us into this absolute fuckwittery. Ever see the actual primary ballot for governor? Yes, they were all running.

Someone needs to explain to the asshats at the AISI what a black hat sandbox is. JFC. In fact, I’d quite like to see actual serious legal and financial penalties for fucking this sort of thing up. That might focus minds a bit in the AI Wild West
Importantly, this was not a case of a model escaping its secure test environment, or 'sandbox'. As was standard in our cyber testing, we had intentionally permitted internet access, and model-provider cyber classifiers were deliberately disabled - conditions that do not reflect how frontier models are made available to the public.

AP must really want to find the guy who wrote this article way back in, oh wait, June. apnews.com/article/musk...
In addition to establishing a one-million person Martian colony, the company has promised to save humanity by establishing other outposts in space, launch data centers the size of football fields into orbit and outdo rivals Anthropic and OpenAl in the race to make money from artificial intelligence.

Glad to see he’s on the fence about the respective benefits and issues
“"He's like, Where it exists, why aren't we using it everywhere?' And so that drives an impatience from the top of the spectrum that filters down to cabinet members, to civil servants," says the former aide.”

Our swift visitor numbers in Kendal seem pretty good this year. We have dozens most nights - soaring, diving and shrieking. Joyous!

I’m used to bullshit baseball quotes by now but Vitello is definitely All-Star Bullshit Baseball Quote bound if he keeps this absolute world-class nonsense up.
"We're capable of doing anything," manager
Tony Vitello said. "I felt like tonight would have been one of our best wins of the year going into the game if we could have won it.

I shouldn’t be unkind but this quote from one of the startup folk got a very dark laugh from me. This is like being recognized as a very promising orc by Saruman.
“I was primed and ready to be the young, talked-about tech entrepreneur. I'd been nominated as a rising star by the Institute of Directors.

This is an absolutely *glorious* level of entitlement.
This is typical of modern Britain: fare dodgers roam freely while decent, paying passengers are singled out for disgraceful abuse.

The temptation to fully share my thoughts about last night’s game against the White Sox is almost overwhelming… “I thought $20 beers might buy a competent team but apparently not”

From experience, it’s also nearly impossible to get the uphill side door open and the downhill side door closed. 🫣 This is a really fun bit of SF to drive around. If you head down Filbert from Hyde, the road basically plunges to Leavenworth below. It’s one way because the uphill is too steep.
View towards Telegraph Hill from Filbert on Russian Hill. The road plunges immediately after the yellow warning diagonals.

Not an AI guy at all - they’re idiots for letting an AI agent work uncontrolled in the production database. However, the reason this is *such* a clusterfuck is because these guys can’t pull a backup fresher than 3 months old. That’s just amateur hour. Compounded by their freelance AI chum…
“Crane says his company was able to restore data from a three-month-old backup they maintained offsite, but it took more than two days.”
