At 📍 Kyokyezo, Rubanda District, Slow Food farmers, leaders, and extension officers in a dialogue meeting discussed restoring indigenous seeds and the need for a Community Seed Bank. Councillor Byamukama Baker offered land for indigenous seed multiplication and preservation.

During my visit to the Mau Forest in Nakuru, I expected to taste honey and not to be stung by plants! I tasted honey straight from the comb; warm, golden, and so pure it could make sugar jealous. However, that cute looking stinging Nettle had us dancing like we were auditioning for a music video.

Slow Food Uganda recently trained Ngogwe Earth Market members on principles, leadership & management, using the Earth Market Rules Manual. Farmers shared challenges like pests and explored producing liquid fertilizers. The session strengthened producers' knowledge & commitment to a resilient market.

At Regenerate Africa in Buikwe District, youth from the SFYNUganda gathered for a Good Food Camp to promote food biodiversity and cultural heritage. The day is filled with interactive sessions, innovations, and a biodiversity walk at Nalumuli farm, where regenerative farming meets nature.

Today, we conducted a training needs assessment with 18 members (12M, 6F) of the Busyula Arabica Coffee Slow Food Community in Busyula Village, Manafwa District. We assessed their knowledge and training needs in climate-resilient and agroecological practices to guide future support and development.

On 29th April, 2025, Slow Food Uganda conducted a field visit for Kiziba and Kambibi Community demonstration gardens where farmers have established vegetable nursery beds of nutritious vegetables including amaranths, sukuma, the black night shed, and African bitter berries.

WDSD, our SFYN members, were on the ground sourcing fresh food materials while spreading awareness about food waste! Engaging with vendors, they highlighted the value of reducing food loss and making the most of every ingredient. Small actions lead to big impact starting right at the market stall!
